I love this pick and a bit of research reveals.... On the RAS grades, Mims ranked 57 out of 1377 OT from 1987 to 2024 - the past 37 years! He did not allow a single QB sack in ANY of his college snaps he played.. He grades elite..... any draft pick is a roll of the dice, no matter who it is.. We are going big and protecting Joe Cool...... We will address the other areas of need in the rest of the draft...... LOVE IT

Mims could be really good - next year. For a team that is all in supposedly I wanted a more impactful player this year. But my top 5 players were obviously top players to 11-12 other teams before us so we lose. The ego win against the Browns in the last game solidly hurt us here.

they could have gotten bowers, fuaga, or murphy if they lost in week 18 smh.

Injuries happen, if your a bengals fan youd know we already lost a SB because of o line injuries

i dont get what bengals see in pollack, i got a feeling this might be the last season we have pollack unless trent or mims makes him look good....hope we get some competition in later rounds at guard to put volson on his heels and maybe put in the extra work to do better
@isambo4002 ай бұрын
The Brown family doesn’t cut people before their contract is up. Pollack is clearly a failure. All of out O linemen will regress until he is gone.

There r still solid corners in free agency & we still gonna have 12-14 million to spend after signing rookies & keeping money to sign players late off-season or in-season

Think of the terms that are getting thrown around about Mims like "he's raw!" & "he's a project!" These are totally false labels to attach to Mims. Projects & raw players have traits & abilities that "could" translate to being good NFL players but they also have lots of BAD tape that you can point to & say "he needs to correct this & this & this, & IF he does he might be a good player..." This is NOT the case with Mims. He just needs to stay healthy. He may only have played 8 games but he put out consistently good tape, game after game that he played in, snap after snap, vs very good defensive competition. He has nothing but GOOD tape. "Raw" players & projects have bad tape with lots of obvious flaws that need to be corrected. The tools & potential are there with raw projects, but the tape isn't always good With Mims, his tape is ALWAYS good! Show me one snap where he looked bad out of 8 games. Just one! If he's a bust, he will be an injury bust, not a "this guy can't play OT at all" bust. Easily worth the risk at 18. Top 10 tools & tape. Was he the safest pick at 18? Nope. He was the biggest swing for the fences they could have made, & I'm ok with that at 18, especially for an OT that grades out very highly as a pass blocker & still is OK vs the run & will only get better with more reps.

Mims has a ton of upside. Can be a stud

Like the pick but imagine if we didn’t win all those games in the back end of the year just to miss the playoffs… would’ve been sitting at 13 with alot of options

I love how the raiders picked brock bowers even though they drafted michael mayer last year in the early 2nd round😂I swear, the raiders picked him to make sure the bengals didn't get him😂😂😂😂you could tell brock bowers doesn't even want to be with them. he should be with the bengals, a team that he can win a superbowl with.😂😂

I’m not a fan of mims, everyone has a hard on because he’s 6’8 or big. That doesn’t mean you’ll be good. We always waste first round picks on guys that need to be “developed”. How about we pick a guy who’s ready! No more “projects” in the first round please.
@marcusdrumm48812 ай бұрын
I wanted Newton; I still do. We passed on the top CB and the 2nd DT to take the 5th OT. We tagged Tee to win now and then drafted a 1st rounder we hope won't see the field this year.
@johnbach23802 ай бұрын
That 2nd dt didn't even go first round. 😂

Mims will see the field this year on heavy packages barring injury. He'll see even more playing time if Brown goes down with an injury as he usually does. The teams backup OT's are liabilities and Burrow can't go down again with an injury. Protecting the teams $275,000,000 investment is job one.

They drafted heavy on defense for 2 drafts why draft DB's and not use them
@johnwillson28462 ай бұрын
I expected this to be the pick but I am not happy. When watching the draft and the commentators first words out their mouths is this guy is massive it’s a concern. They didn’t talk about his skill set right off the bat. He is massive with an injury history and a small sample size. Why pick on potential at this spot? When they could’ve gotten more depth on the D line, a pass rusher to replace Trey if he hangs up his cleats or a stud wide out to replace Tee.
@ineergee53212 ай бұрын
Byron Murphy and Jonny newton are both 3t tackles they play the same spot as bj hill and rankins we would never have drafted one of them at 18 makes no sense people don’t realize they wouldn’t replace di reader. And also mims has a year to sit and develop behind Orlando and Trent and hopefully he’s ready to make a impact next year solid pick

Terrible pick for a team trying to win a Super Bowl this season. He might not even see the field unless they plug him in at LG
@FIRSTSTOPBENGALS2 ай бұрын
Trent brown hasn’t lasted a full season in some time. If he goes down this year, you need someone to replace him. Mims is better than Jackson carman. You have to have depth at the O line position.
@0831fabian2 ай бұрын
Casual. He won’t ever play gaurd for us. At the very least he will be an elite swing tackle this season and dominate in the jumbo set. Or he will fill in for Trent brown if he can’t finish this season. RT of the future
@Topchahta2 ай бұрын
How is it a smart pick smh
@johe60602 ай бұрын
It's not. They are in win now and they just drafted a guy who likely won't even see the field AGAIN,
@FIRSTSTOPBENGALS2 ай бұрын
It’s a smart pick for the future. Not the right now. But if Trent brown goes down, which based on his history it would say he will. You need a guy to start at the RT position. Which mims can do.
