If you own a Frigidaire Refrigerator with an interface, there are a lot of hidden codes available to many things on this refrigerator, such as Forced Defrost, Sabbath Mode, Demo Mode, and do all kinds of diagnostic tests through the Service Mode. Additionally, there are error codes that can show up outside of the service mode that can be very problematic, as you may not be able to clear the codes until you find and fix the problem.

I think the first tip fixed mine. We had a bad storm and the power was flickering on and off. I unplugged it for 15 minutes. Thank you! I will try the defrost later.

100%. Thank you! I've gotten to the point of getting a new fridge after 4 years of battle with my Frigidair ice maker. The brand meant something years ago when owned by GM. Have a 50 yr old freezer The darn fill tube to the ice maker freezes up, in my case, drop the Mike. Have been through all the ytube videos, performed them, and now after it quits in a week, a hair dryer in the extended gap between ice maker and top of fridge returns it to normal operation for another week. This is just a plain defect! Will not buy Frigidaire again. Thinking of putting a small pad heater on the fill tube Your vid is great! The problem is you cannot fix a bad design in diagnostic mode. The freezing fill tube IS the design flaw.

Update. The heater idea is working. Google "USB Glove Warmers". Sandwich two 5 watt glove warmers in aluminum foil. Gorilla tape foil/heaters to top wall where fill tube runs to the icemaker. I run about 4 hrs to defrost. Do so at your own risk.

Thank you so much I found a issue with mine. The evaporator fan is defective in off and low speed mode. Only high speed was working and within the numbers of service mode manual

helpful info. would be nice to know how to turn off auto defrost as, if power failure occurs, defrost cycle eats up a lot of power depleting backup energy source for no good reason.

I have water dripping from the ice maker down the chute. Thoughts? Also the fridge side doesn't seem as cold as it should be. I can see a little ice build up at the back of the ice maker from the fridge

I have a top freezer Frigidaire refrigerator I believe somewhere between 18 and 20 ft.³ I’m running it on Solar I’m wondering how much power does the defroster use??? how many watts of power does it use when it defrosts itself once or twice a day??? It’s probably about 10 years old.

Hi, I have a brand new frfc2323as0. The ice maker evaporator coil is cold and below 0degree f, but the main coul never gets cold. Any idea if there is a valve stuck or anything? Tia

Great video, thanks! My evaporator thermistor thermistor appears to be reading incorrectly - code 39 shows 99 degrees. Do you happen to know what part needs replacing? My local shop looked at it and said I needed part 240597203, which I ordered and replaced in the freezer, but I’m starting to think they told me the wrong thing. Not sure if I need a new defrost thermostat or some sort of thermistor other than the one they told me. Been trying to investigate this for weeks, I’d super appreciate the help!

I love it when unplugging is one of the steps, also following a power outage. My heavy fridge is positioned as a built-in with only myself to do it. Impossible. 😑 I have a river of water on the floor and everything has now thawed out. I have - and + buttons, not arrows. No combination gets to diagnostics and I don't have an options button.

I have this exact model, we had a power outage and when the power came back on the lights inside come on but nothing else on the unit will come on. I have been told it was the defrost timer but I havent' been able to locate that on this unit..Could you give me idea of what it could be?? Thanks

The self defrost only takes like 30min automaticly. I actually had a glitch with ours where it would not defrost on its own every 12 hours, and would freeze up solid. After factory resetting the system, it worked fine again.

We just bought a used Frigidaire Gallery 3 door refrigerator, model #GRFS2853AF2, and it started displaying "er t7" on the temperature displays. No one online has a complete list of error codes, but I'm hoping you do, or can at least explain what the code is and how to fix it.

Great video. One of my lights (Water) appears to be burnt out. I've done some research on this and it appears that the entire display panel needs to be replaced to correct this issue. Thoughts?

Great video. Saved for future reference. Do you know if there is a way to increase ice production. I thought there was a way to select like 1x 1.5x or 2x but can’t figure out how to get into that setting. Ice production is slow water filter only 2 months old all other tests good. Temp 38 degrees

Hold both the water & crush buttons for 10 seconds. You will see IC on the left. Press the + button until you have 3 bars then press set.

What’s a ER CE followed by a HI 56? Display completely inoperable, no ice or water dispensing, no lights but freezer freezes and fridge stays cold. I should say, the ER CE only comes on when I unplug and plug the display back in. Otherwise it just says HI 56

I watched your video on the Frigidaire FFHD2250TS on the control panel. My unit keeps getting ice on the condenser and the refrigerator isn't cold. I put a thermometer in and it reads 50 degrees. I installed a new thermostat and that didn't help. Can you help with what is wrong? I checked the damper control and it was open. I closed it and it opened again on its own so I wasn't sure if that was the issue. I can't seem to locate a defrost timer so don't know how to check that? Any ideas?

At the moment, for french door, I like GE's the most. I try to avoid LG and Samsung. Whirlpool makes KitchenAid. The issue is that the more features, the worse its going to be due to way more complexity. Simplicity is better among all brands, if possible. But GE and Bosch are good. Whirlpool are good *if* they don't have in-door water/ice.

@@bensappliancesandjunk good to hear, As we just settled on a ge to replace this notsoFrigidaire. We’ve already had to add insulation weather stripping stuff on back due to ice building up. Now ice makers acting up. Nothing is working so far in fixing. Trying defrost function now.

Do you have any idea why my fridge isn’t showing particular test codes? I am trying to run a diagnostic to see why my fridge isn’t cooling at all. I have scrolled through all of the tests & it doesn’t include 12, 43, and 38. The codes that are related to the fan and condenser

He mentions at 3:49 that not all fridges will have the same tests. Here's a list of tests you may not see on your Frigidaire refrigerator. 1 = compressor 3 = fresh food lighting 9 = freezer lighting 41 = perfect temp drawer 12 = condenser fan 38 = compressor 43 = no information, probably another fan or compressor Hope this helped!

The lights behind my digital numbers died a few years ago and I can only see partial bits of each number, like maybe just the top horizontal line for O, etc. It's very hard to know what's going on or to read any of the numbers. My ice maker stopped working and I can't do the diagnostics bc I can't read the numbers especially when it's displaying weird codes I don't recognize.

I pressed the + - and i can hear the fridge shut down but the DF doesn't show up. It's just a blank screen. Does that mean it's in defrost mode or not?

you have the screen or display turned off. it's turning on. if you turn the control panel lights back on and do it you'll see it.

I have a Kenmore refrigerator and it looks just like the one you shows in the video My problem is that the top of the fridge is not cooling but the freezer is working I already replace the relay inverter board but I keep having the same problem and the same code 5Y EF also I can’t hear the compressor humming or vibrating there is a slight vibration but I think is the fan the compresor is hot don’t know if that is normal if the freezer is working that means the compressor is working too ??? any suggestions will appreciate it

I’ve run the self diagnostic and it cycles through things. Dispense water out front, dispense water in ice tray and dumps, the fan in the back runs and everything seems to work well in diagnostic. When I take it out of diagnostic the ice maker doesn’t do anything. Doesn’t fill with water or make ice and I don’t think the fan runs either. Any ideas?

Check back of icemaker for ice buildup or moisture. Check back behind fridge in icemaker area as well. Also check with a thermostat what temp in icemaker is

I had the same issue, Some how I found out that the top of ice maker box would freeze water lines, which would prevent water from filling ice tray.. my fix was removing the ice container and placing a warm mug of water inside ice box for about 5 min, as soon as supply lines where warm enough surely we heard the tray filling with water noise.. hope it helps!

@@dalor5140 in the diagnostic mode it fills the tray with water and the tray dumps the water, so I don’t think my lines are frozen. I can hear and see the fan running in the back. The ice dispenser arm rotates. Idk if there is a relay or something that went bad?

@@braxman841 I never got anything to work. My filter has said need to replace for a long time and I never did because I didn’t think it was a big deal. One day I ordered a couple new filters and changed it and reset the filter tab on the menu and it started working again! So if yours is like that try resetting the filter button or the actual filter!

Has anyone had the issue with the ice dispenser jamming? I’ve had a technician come out 4x, new ice tray & other mechanisms created, even a new tray. Almost seems like not enough torque from motor, but I’m at my wit’s end. Cannot dispense without it jamming! 🤬

I have to open the freezer and move the tray, sometimes just opening and closing the freezer door makes it work again

@@davidmende4438 Thank you. Turns out it needed a new motor and then had the tech insulate the pipe bringing in the water. It apparently freezes easily, which can limit the water intake for the actual ice maker. So disappointing that this thing is so flimsy and temperamental.
