@@cloud6501 but he still knows it well, yes there are many things he doesn't understand too. But he knows the things he talks about well. I never said he was a master in every aspect he talks about, I doubt he would say that too. But my point still stands that he knows them well enough to simplify them so others can understand too. You can't assume everyone has the same understanding of a topic that you possess. You see my point ?

JP saved my life twice. First through diet. Autoimmune disorders were causing me severe mental distress, and I learned of the carnivore diet from JP which rectified that. And his book and lectures helped me find purpose in life, before then I had lived a self destructive lifestyle because I saw no future. He gifted me ambition, and that helps me better myself every day. How do you thanks someone that rescues you from misery twice, and you haven't even met them.

I was suffering from rheumatoid arthritis in my cervical spine for almost 20 years (since about 15 years old) with no help from doctors. I just started a carnivore diet a couple weeks ago out of desperation. I never understood until now just how much my pain controlled and limited me. For the first time in almost 20 years I have drive. For the first time in almost 20 years I don't have to wrestle myself into doing something good for me and my family. On the personality scale I manifest in the single digits for Consientiousness, so this pain has been the greatest struggle in my life. And now the pain is gone. Thankyou.

But, much like the Left's wanton (and reckless) use of the race card, if someone ACTUALLY LISTENS to what Dr. Peterson says, it's very evident he is VERY pro-women. Shapiro is no giant or wise man. He has a small, cynical view of the world and he analyzes everything about life with that sort of disdain. He markets a dated conservatism to a naive audience that still buy into almost all of the establishment tropes, at the end of the day he is nothing more than a salesman and will not take a stand on any issue that could actually hurt his business model. Peterson has a truly unique balance of effective communication and depth that have made him something special. He’s no perfect genius, but he is the father figure that many people needed a few years ago.

@@johannes6760 I used to feel that way, but I feel like he is becoming a net negative force. Groups like The Daily Wire and PragerU are pushing the sort of pre-Trump conservatism that entertained people like Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio for president, which should tell you just how unviable that is. Ben just cares about economics and foreign policy, his engagement with social issues seems to go no deeper than him just finding woke ideology to be irrational and weird. Even worse, he actively engages in cancel culture despite being one of its primary critics. He’s incredibly intelligent and knows exactly what he is doing, he’s enriching himself at the expense of the country and, at most, hoping he can return things back to 2008 or something. The absolute worst of the worst. Michael Knowles is pretty cool though.

He wanted to raise me as a traditional man of faith and value, after his death I was introduced to bad ideas culminating in college rejecting everything my upbringing stood for, then a nihilistic life after college that consisted of work and having “fun”. Then in my late 30s I watched JP’s interview with Cathy Newman, read his book and binge watched and listened to I think everything from him that’s public. Need to have Ben release the footage from the various angles so we can see how many times they had to edit out someone pulling up a chair or someone trying to nonchalantly lean their chair back to hear better, or someone feverishly taking notes in the background...

Me too! According to a lot of different personality typing systems, I have a much more masculine temperament than most women, and that includes being high in Trait Disagreeableness. It makes it really hard to interact with most other women who are high in Trait Agreeableness. As @Sean Byers said, Trait Disagreeableness must be tempered with discretion and kindness… But still. It makes us very different than the majority of women’s temperaments.

@seanbyers6736 2 жыл бұрын
@@milo_thatch_incarnate I would also add that “disagreeableness” is great when it comes to being mamma bear or not tolerating someone bad mouthing your husband or something. What’s interesting is how nuanced Christian marriage (i.e. relationship) advice actually is. On the one hand, it lays out a certain patriarchal structure (hang with me, here...) with the man/husband as the head. But the temptation to tyranny/abuse of strength is tempered by the admonition to essentially lead by sacrificing yourself for the good of your family in imitation of Christ. On the flip side, it admonishes women to be submissive to their husbands (i.e. accept their authority and support them). Sounds kinda mewling and whimpy until... It says that iron sharpens iron. So basically, it’s equal dignity, different roles, male headship, female support, but support doesn’t mean “without challenge”, all nestled under the command to “love one another as I have loved you”. It’s beautiful. It’s perfect. But not always easy.
@milo_thatch_incarnate
@milo_thatch_incarnate 2 жыл бұрын
@@seanbyers6736 Very well said. I completely agree. It took me a WHILE to agree to all of that, because as I said, I'm naturally a Trait Disagreeable, smart, strong, independent, business-minded woman. I work WELL on my own. But _really studying_ Proverbs 31 largely led to my wholehearted acceptance of God's originally designed gender roles, because the "woman after God's own heart" of Proverbs 31 is a business woman herself! Her husband is recognized and praised at the gates of the city BECAUSE of the strong, industrious woman everyone knows has his back and runs his household. And I love that.

I am a mother of 5 young children and it is such a joy to hear you both ruminate on what has become such a wellspring of delight-perhaps even the deepest joy I have come to know in my life- which is the submission of my heart to the femininity I was created for. It is a constant struggle against our society (as evidenced by every grocery store comment we receive). I do actually believe the feminine “divine” has been on display quite clearly all along in Ruth, Abigail, the Proverbs 31 woman..with Mary clearly stating it “behold the handmaiden of the Lord; let it be done to me as you say” and even in Mr. Darcy and Caroline Bingley’s description of an accomplished woman “I rather wonder now of you knowing any.” The feminine divine is always industrious, diligent and flourishing in her submission. So interesting and beautiful! Thank you for sharing your brilliant ideas with us!

Ironic considering you're telling her to "life her life however you see fit", but also telling her to stop talking about herself and her own personal perspectives. So, which is it? Are you telling her to "life her life however..." she sees fit, or does she have to not talk about herself, her opinions, or her feelings because you feel that it SOMEHOW pushes other people down?

Now twenty five years later we are still happily married, still best friends, and we still enjoy eachother's company. So for anyone that cares. I’ve struggled with dating all my life. I grew up in a household with an abusive mother and drunken stepdad, so it made me timid and shy. It used to drive me up the wall, with all this love I had to give, and I would have loved to have had a woman to share it with, but life doesn’t seem to roll that way for me. So instead of letting it continue to depress me, I decided to love myself, so to speak. Not in a narcissistic kind of way, I can’t really explain it, but I enjoy “being with myself, by myself” I can’t fully explain it, but it keeps me sane, and I’m not in the same boat as others who stay depressed and in a slump because they can’t get a girlfriend.

Let me tell you, young women. I was never the mother type, though I had kids and did my best by them. Still do. A career is not fulfilling in itself. Climbing ladders gets old. Long hours get tiring. I’m in healthcare, and more and more I see how empty the lives of the childless become in the later years. There’s no guarantee your kids will look out for you down the road, lot of that has to do with your love and nurturing. But I guarantee you without kids, MO ONE will look out for you in those late years. You may have friends but they may be in worse shape than you. Societies that work well are built on people giving a damn about each other. Trust the government to take care of you? Ha ha ha. Look at how they took care of the boots on the ground military, the indigenous Americans, the people in nursing homes. Be careful, the selfishness you sow today is your harvest tomorrow.

It took me decades to understand that making money meant nothing, everything you’ve done is forgotten within a decade of your dying if not sooner. Jobs replace you and someone fills your spot seamlessly, as if you never existed. The things you bought grow dusty and passé with time. Only in your kids and grandkids do you exist as something tangible for generations. I wish someone had told me this when I was being frustrated at motherhood. When I felt like my life was hijacked by the very miracle that only women can perform, though only with a man’s help. Men cannot be women, ever. How dare they assume they can be the carriers and nurturers of life. They have a role, a dad is an awesome figure in our lives. Why are women content to accept this societal demand that we step down for gender identification? I care not who you feel you are, be what you feel. But you will never carry the ability to grow life. True, some women can’t, but that’s recognized as not normal, and so many friends of mine have grieved that they weren’t able to conceive. I know I’m going on about this, but truth came slowly to me. I hope it doesn’t to others.

I'm a woman in my 50s and, when I was younger, I was definitely treated as lower in society than the men around me. So for my whole life, I've fought for equality with men and the ability to do and be what ever I wanted. But along the way, I also fell for the myth that these differences were because women chose to be mothers which made them lesser than men. "I'm just a stay at home mum" was something I heard far too often in a disparaging way. Thanks to these 2 men, I've had my eyes open to how much I'd been led down the wrong path. Motherhood is the ultimate role for women, not the least valuable role. It's too late for me to have kids, and I definitely don't regret that as I've had an amazing life without them. But I do now look at life very differently and am helping all the young women I know to question societal rules and open their hearts to find the truth that resonates for them. Thank you.

There is no ultimate role for women…or for men. I find this line of thinking particularly bothersome coming from those that insists we treat people as individuals, and not judge them as members of groups based on immutable characteristics. If it’s “racist” to assume a man is a criminal because he is black (13% of population), Then what would you call a person telling 50% of the population that their ultimate role in life is to become a breeder? Maybe that’s true for you, or even true for most women…but certainly not all. The best thing we can do is to treat women as individuals, and let them make their own decisions…which thankfully, is the current status quo (barring Texas, and Mississippi).

@@anolisa1939 I agree. But you forget men have roles too. In your world, no one has roles and society is messed up with nothing that is conducive to human growth. I agree that everyone should have a choice. And they already have.

@@anolisa1939 This is interesting and like Ben mentions in the video, the woman is called in Hebrew ezer (helper/there is even a “deliverer” aspect to it as God is usually Israel’s ezer in a time of need ) kenegdo (his opposite/or his match). Adam names the animals and finds not a ezer kenegdo, so he makes one from him. God had to make a match equal to him to be his partner, as everything else was unfit. Genesis 1 even calls the man AND the woman made in the image of God. It is the unity of man and woman that more accurately reflect God. Together they rule over creation as God’s stewards, the man has his own strengths but so does the woman. She reflects God in a way man can’t, and is why God even compares his love and loyalty to Israel to a mother who will not leave her new born child. Women image God in ways men can’t but it’s the pair that better reflect him and rule correctly. Like a yin and yang. Think of parenting, a child needs both the mothers nurturing ability (generally) with the father’s strength and leadership for healthy development. That’s only the beginning in Genesis 1 & 2 but it doesn’t stop as Genesis 3 reveals another aspect of their symbiotic rule of the earth. In ch. 1 God tells humanity to “be fruitful and multiply”. This does not mean to only have babies. Their job as God’s imagers were/are to rule over creation under God’s wisdom. The man’s “fruitfulness” was his labor, working the ground. The woman’s “fruitfulness” was her ability to bear children. Not saying this was all men and women are good for but this is a general picture of the couple living in symbiosis spreading the garden, which was their calling (spreading God’s rule to the ends of the earth). This is clear as when man and woman sin by eating the fruit, they cover themselves up (intimacy lost), and are cursed. The curses are to the woman: PAIN in child bearing and a desire to rule her husband (so a power struggle from then on) And to the man: ground is cursed because of him and he will work the ground in PAIN. Notice the hindrance to be fruitful in their respective fields (pain to be fruitful to both). Their sin hindered their ultimate calling, and their relationship took a blow. I’ma just stop now but there’s so much.

Honestly, I'm fairly new to religion and Mr. Shaprio's break down of the bible is always so entertaining. I loved that section of his Podcast back in the day. If that type of series was created, I'd buy a 3 years subscription to DW lol

Read the Bible. Read the Bible. Read the Bible. Once you get familiar with it and comfortable with it, you will be able to better see and avoid people who are trying to trick you. People checked to see if Paul was teaching correctly by checking what he said with the Bible (Acts 17:11). God's word is truth. His word stands. Lean on Him to teach you.

Love it. I've heard Jordan Peterson speak in lecture on his ideas for hours and hours on end.. and a lot of what he's saying here I have heard many times. It's truly impressive that you can just give him a different environment and good conversation with another formidable mind; and he'll just go on to deliver another perspective building on what he already knows - resolute and focused. "It's the market" - brilliant.

That's actually amazing that the Hebrew name for Eve indicates an adversarial relationship. I've lately been thinking about whether some women I admire are "out of my league." The conclusion I came to was that I shouldn't think of it that way, but instead let those women motivate me to strive for higher achievements as our relationship grows. "Eve" is not just a cute, sexy wallflower. She will challenge you. It will not be easy, but in the end, you'll be a better person for it.
