After suffering from acne for so many years I finally managed to get rid of it thanks to a medication called benzoyl peroxide. I've used it once before but it wasn't the right way. This time I found some great products, got the desired acne-free skin and I want to share everything I know with you!
For me benzoyl peroxide is hands down the best way to get rid of spots. It works in three ways: it kills the bacteria, it reduces the irritation and it unclogs the pores. So, not only that it gets rid of acne but it also prevents breakouts! In addition I also noticed that my pores got smaller since I started using it.

Yeah if you’re using it the right way (slowly increasing the amount every week) then you won’t experience much irritation ☺️

Hi Nassim, I use 2.5% and it gets rid of the acne. You can start with 2.5% and if it’s not strong enough for you then try 5%. I noticed difference after 2, 3 months of using it. It takes a while but it works.

mai ae The pimples started to disappear after a month.. but my skin was sensitive, dry and red for at least 2 more months.. after 6 months it looked very nice. Good luck with the treatment 💕

Lewis Stanton I first wash my face with acne.org cleanser, then I wait 5 min, then I apply the BP, then I wait 5 min to dry and I apply the moisturizer twice a day. That’s the instructions by acne.org.

Mws Khan no, dear.. you won’t get any results for a week. Benzoyl peroxide needs a least a month to clean your pimples, can be even longer.

Hi, dear. I've been using it for 1 year and a half. The price of benzoyl peroxide is different in the different countries, but in general it's an affordable product. Check the price in any pharmacy in your country.

Hey, so I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out what causes it. I've tested my hormones, everything is fine there, I didn't eat meat for 4 years, I tried to avoid/reduce cow milk.. no difference. Eventually I read on acne.org that in general it's very difficult to find out what causes it as there's no enough data/research on that subject. 😔

It's always a good idea to eat healthy and have a balanced food, not only for your skin but for your overall health too. 😍 However if you're already using benzoyl peroxide.. even if you change your diet you won't be able to understand if the changes you made actually help. For sure stay away from greasy/deep fried food, too much sugar and processed food (like fast food and the crisps), they have no nutritions. In addition drink lots of water and exercise.. that's great for the skin ✨

prince hub official glycolic acid or salicylic acid but you need to be careful how you use them. It’s best to have consultation with a dermatologist.

I have a facewash which has 5% aloe vera extract, 2% salicylic acid and 1% glycolic acid, is this a good facewash for pigmentation or do you have any other suggestions and also is it safe to use near dark circles?

Hash Premium I don’t see why not to use it near the dark circles? What’s the concern? I am not an expert and I also don’t know how bad your hyperpigmentation is so I can’t really give any advise... But I have a feeling that 1, 2% isn’t strong enough to help much.. Usually the ones that make difference are creams/gels that you apply in the evening and you sleep with them. Mine is 10%, I use small amount 2, 3 times in a month. I’m not saying the face wash is bad, just saying you might need something slightly stronger. But as I said.. it’s better if you do your research and if you can speak with doctor.

Hey! A great video! 😌 I have been using benzoyl peroxide for 3 weeks now, I have used it only on the pimples, it definitely helped but benzoyl peroxide left little scars. 😢 So I stopped using it. Can you recommend me somenthing for the scars?

Dermatologist suggested me this cream... But after 6-7 days my skin looked so dull and while applying that more pimple came and it irritate my skin at the chin area... Plz recommend what should i do... I don't have pimple bt there is some pimple scars and i have open pores...

Hi, Akancha. When you first start using it your skin is very dry, irritated, sensitive, red etc after some time (usually around a month or two) your skin get used to it. That’s why it’s recommended to start with a small amount once a day and then to increase the amount as your skin gets used to it. So that explains the irritation on your chin and the dullness. It happens to everyone. Benzoyl Peroxide will help for the large pores, acne, blackheads but it doesn’t help with acne scars, dark and red acne spots.

You mentioned drying as a side effect of using BP, but did you experience any purging in the first few weeks? I try to do some research but ended getting more confused on this part. I'm on my first week and I have several acne appearing so suddenly on areas I usually have them and then disappearing not even after 5 days which is unusual for me. Not sure if it's purging or breaking out :(

Amirah Putra yes, I kept having new pimples for probably 3 months.. they’re saying BP works slowly, so it’s normal to still get pimples.

Amirah Putra I’m not an expert but I remember reading somewhere that it takes few weeks for a pimple to develop.. So if you have started BP a week ago there might be pimples started developing 2 weeks ago and only now they come to the surface. I think give it a little bit more time. It should be alright x

yes, the whole face without of course the area around the eyes. Moisturiser has to be applied 5-10 min after benzoyl peroxide and the moisturiser is mandatory as BP dries the skin a lot. 👍🏼

It really depends how much quantity you use, if it's a little bit and you mix it with your moisturiser then you can use it almost every day. In the winter I use it more often - 2, 3 times a week (when you use GA you really need to avoid the sun, so it's better to be used in the winter), in the summer I barely use it. It really really depends on how strong GA you use. (there's 2%, 5%, 10% etc), if you mix it with your moisturiser or not, on what results you want to achieve, so it's hard to tell. Keep in mind, glycol acid can really damage your skin if you don't know how to use it, so either book an appointment with dermatologist or do your research. Luckily most of the brands that sell GA give detailed information on how to be used.

My dermatologist prescribed benzoyl peroxide as well. Although I didn't see any side effects but my acne got worse after single use only. So I stopped using it. After a couple of weeks, (by that time I had used every possible treatment but nothing worked) I thought of giving it a try again. So I again applied it on my face and the next day, I got new pimples 😭 I was so pissed off that I again threw it away. I started using tea tree oil. Though It was drying up my pimples to some extent but caused too much of redness. So I again stopped using it and bought a new tube of benzoyl peroxide. Again after applying it, I got some pimples. I've applied it twice only. So it's been three days I've stopped using benzoyl peroxide, currently I don't use anything. Just a simple 5% Niacinamide Serum. I think I need some patience and should go back to my beloved peroxide again 😂😭

It takes about two weeks for a pimple to form in your skin, so the pimples that you have now have most probably formed few weeks ago. In general it takes at least a month to see any difference from benzoyl peroxide. In addition you need to be sure that you use it the right way. It works but you have to be patient and use it the right way 🥰

B Swayzee I apply it twice a day. But I think in the beginning only once until you’re skin gets used to the BP. You will need to read the instructions by the brand or your doctor. It might be different with you.

It's best to keep it simple.. Cleanser, BP and moisturiser. You can try adding aloe vera after the moisturiser but if it irritates your skin is best to stop using it.

Khaled Ali try using a 10% sulphur ointment like a face mask for 10 minutes or buy a 10% sulphur soap i got mine from amazon, i’m using acnecide at night and then in the morning using the sulphur soap cause you can’t use them together one after the other so space it out- sulphur helps to fight fungal acne, bacteria and bumps on and under the skin- when i use the soap i leave it on for a few minutes then wash off

What do you mean? You should apply sunscreen when you go outside during the day and avoid unnecessary sun exposure.

amani alm yes, that’s what acne.org advice. Cleanser.. wait 5 min.. BP.. wait 5 min .. moisturizer 🧴 They’ve said the products work better this way. Don’t worry too much it doesn’t have to be exactly 5 min, the idea is that you give your skin some time to absorb the product before you apply the next one. Also I’ve noticed that if I apply the moisturizer straight after the BP I get some redness and burning feeling (even with moisturizers for sensitive skin) if I wait few minutes that doesn’t happen.

At least until you don’t have any pimples but it’s best to keep using it even after that because benzoyl peroxide prevents the formation of pimples as well. If you stop using it your skin will start breaking out again.

hey, Benzoyl Peroxide will only get rid of the acne. There's something else I used for the dark spots, hyperpigmatation, large pores etc .. Hey Nadia beautiful skin. I got hormonal acne and it's been three months now, I got benzac ac gel 5% this week. I put it on. But it burn my face and it gets so dry. I've been using it alone and no moisturizer after use. I usually use tissue oil and nivea moisturizer as a daily routine how can I incorporate all these products together. Hi, dear It's normal that your skin gets dry and irritated by the BP, especially in the beginning. After few months your skin will be less dry and sensitive. However, my personal opinion (and from experience) is that there's no way you can use BP without moisturiser! The moisturiser is as equally important as the BP and it's very very important part of the treatment! I'm also not sure if Nivea is a good option.. It's best to find moisturiser that it's noncomedogenic, perfume free and for dry sensitive skin. There are many options out there, I have tested 3, 4 moisturisers until I found the right one for my skin. Also soaps tend to dry the skin.. Try to find gentle foaming cleanser, without perfume, for sensitive skin (because the BP makes your skin sensitive). The micellar water is great 👍🏼 There's no need to use it everyday. Use it only to remove your makeup at the end of the day. If you don't wear makeup on your skin don't use the micellar water at all, just wash your face with the cleanser morning an evening before applying the BP, then apply the moisturiser. Good luck! ❤️

Regarding the tissue oil.. I'm really not sure. I just had a look in Google and there're mixed reviews. Maybe stop it for few months, see how you skin will react.. try to add it again after some time and again observe how your skin will react. I know for sure that some oils can cause acne.. Jojoba Oil for sure I've heard that doesn't cause acne and moisturise the skin well.

emmanuella moudie I’ve hear jojoba oil is great moisturizer and it’s suitable for acne prone skin. I’m not sure for the Shea butter.. because some of the oils (like coconut oil) clog the pores. Regarding the black soap.. if it’s gentle on your skin, doesn’t dry it and your happy with it, I guess it should be ok.

It happened to me as well .. the first month was a nightmare - itchy, red, peeling, dry skin + it looked like I had tan for some reason 🙈 Maybe try applying moisturizer few times a day.. the more hydrated skin the better.. If the irritation continues more than 3 months then it might be from the moisturizer. I changed 3 moisturizers until I find something that moisturizes my skin and calms it. Ah, also make sure you wait 5 to 15 min for the BP to dry before you apply the moisturizer. I’ve noticed that if I apply it straight after the BP I always get redness.

Hi, Siri. I did PRP (platelet-rich plasma) treatment for the dark circles. It helps a lot but of course it doesn't get rid of them completely as mine are hereditary.. and I had them since I was a kid. I also go to sleep early, exercise and drink lots of water.. that also helps.

yes, it's for oily skin and active pimples, just apply it very gently on the active pimples so you don't irritate them. Regarding the sensitive skin.. I'm not sure to be honest. It's best to buy a tube of benzoyl peroxide from the pharmacy and try a very small amount on your skin.. If it's fine, then try applying a pea size of it once a day - in the evenings only. After few weeks you can increase the amount and start using it twice a day - morning and evening. You definitely have to use moisturiser with it as well.

It shouldn’t be from the BP .. it’s hard for me to say what it is without seeing it. It can be acne, it can be heat rash.. some skin irritation? Google “tiny bumps” and see if yours are the same like the pics, that way you will know roughly what it is.

It's effective only for acne, large spots, blackheads, oily skin.. For the dark brown/red spots left by acne (some call them hyperpigmentation, others - acne scars) you can use glycolic acid or salicylic acid at home. I use glycolic acid, it takes time but it helps.

Lara Matar 100% you need to use moisturizer. I apply the BP then wait 5 min to dry and apply the moisturizer, I never mix it. I believe you shouldn’t mix it. The moisturizer has to be for sensitive skin, without perfume .. I use for dry skin even though I have oily skin type as BP makes my skin quite dry.

Yes change you pillow cases, if at all possible acne is caused by alot of stuff. I'm in my mid 30s and still get acne not bad one here and there every once and a while. It all has to do with stress, I find when I'm in a high stressed environment or around someone stressful I break out. Think positive is the best advice I can give, I know it's not a easy task but good thoughts help.

Hi Mia, the first time a doctor told me to apply it only on the spots.. That didn’t work out so I got frustrated and I did a research online. It turned out that spot treatment doesn’t work for acne-prone skin. The pimples you apply it on will heal but new ones will appear somewhere else. The whole skin (or the whole area) should be treated so you don’t get pimples on first place. Benzoyl Peroxide not only cures the acne but it also penetrates into the pores and prevents the formation of new breakouts. So the second time I used it all over the problem areas (it’s the T-zone for me) and it worked really well. Just keep in mind for spot treatment it’s usually recommended 5 and 10%.. they’re too harsh for applying them all over, so it’s better if you can find 2.5%.

Hi Isuru, your skin gets darker because it will start peeling soon. It also happened to me, after some time your normal skin tone will be back. You have the skincare routine prescribed by a doctor and you stay away from sun, right?

Isuru Nirmal I don’t know what lacto caramin is so I can’t advise you anything but you definitely need to apply sunscreen in the morning and maybe few times during the day if you’re exposed to the sun all day otherwise you can really burn your skin. Sunscreen is a must when you use BP.

Zannat ul Alia I personally apply it on the whole face (more on the forehead and chin because I usually get pimples there and less on my cheeks). It does make your skin dry especially when I first started using it, now it doesn't dry it that much. You need to make sure you apply good moisturizer after the BP to hydrate it. Something without fragrances, for sensitive dry skin. Regarding what the doctor said.. I think you need to follow what she told you strictly.

I started with 5% cause here in our city there are no available 2%. Plus my cleanser is cetaphil, my moisturizer is luxe organic hydro firming mist. In the afternoon I use acne drying lotion to stop the inflammation of my pimples and dry them out easily. Because even though i’m using benzoyl peroxide it still doesn’t dryout my pimples in 3 days.
