Went to a Les Paul celebration in Cleveland on November 15, 2008 which included a virtual who's who of guitarists who all played their own songs with Les before the final segment which included all guest and Les. The funny part was the Ventures with their Mosrite guitars, James Burton with his pink paisley Telecaster, Billy Gibbons, Slash, Steve Lukather, Jennifer Warnes, Richie Sambora, and on and on were there to honor Les. He had a long segment of him playing with his jazz band. On August 13, 2009 Les passed away which made our evening in Cleveland that much more special.

Fun to hear folks with genuine regard for one another going at it. Damaged arm, arthritis and north of 90 and he still brings it.

His idol was Django Reinhardt and he could play pretty insane stuff for a guy with only 2 fingers on his fret hand!

All Your Love, a great Otis Rush rumba blues. Being from Chicago, I was lucky enough to use Otis Rushs' backline when he was not gigging. And, Otis Rush also kicked my ass on the pool table when he would break between sets when I would go see him play. Mercury Blues was one of many songs my guitar guru taught me when I was a younger. Nice set by Steve. Steve owned a big space in my music selection over the years. Les is the best. These cuts are great. Thanks for posting. Lou Pallo, OMG what a great part of the quartet.

The Steve Miller Blues Band, Filmore West in San Francisco, must have been '66 or '67. Great times with good friends! Super to see Miller and Les Paul, two greats, jam!

Look out!! The gangsters back. I'm gonna trade in my old horse for a brand new Cadillac. I'm gonna play some blues, 'cause I know you like that, Gonja get real loose and do the jump back Jack. When I walk into the bar girls from near and far say I'm the ganster. STEVIE GUITAR MILLER. One of the very best there ever was, ever is, ever will be!

Saw Steve Miller last July (Peter Frampton was the opener) 40 years after I last saw him live. He looked and sounded like he was still enjoying what he is doing. That older concert was a few years after I got to meet Les Paul. He had family in my home town.

Not all guitar players carry picks. Somewhere around 1965 I decided I wasn't going to rely on if I had a little piece of plastic with me to be able to play. I play with my fingers. But I do quite often carry a slide in my pocket even when I'm not carrying a guitar.. just in case.

Ya know when you are able to give a bird to the guy who invented the guitar, sounds and recording apparatus stuff you use...you have a special relationship with him. These two are so dam hilarious together! This one of the series is by far the most comfortable. Most guitar legends from Betts to Walsh and May to Slash...they, at the start, are a little star struck and tongue tied. These videos need to be archived in the Smithsonian asap.

Great stuff,.....Steve's, highly underrated!
@tumeninodes88706 жыл бұрын
what is it with people making statements regarding so many music icons as being "underrated"? Please explain how Steve Miller is "underrated" It's equivalent to saying "Elvis was highly underrated" Now, if you were to say "In today's shitshow music industry, Steve Miller and so many other music icons are unknown or unrecognized by people who grew up with no idea of what "real music" is"... you would be correct I remember going to see Steve Miller in the 90's (can't even remember the exact year). A car of young kids pulls up, the only reason they were there was because of the song The Joker, with the line I'm a midnight toker... The show was great, aside from the keyboard player breaking into a rap during The Joker.... lot's of boos from us older fans

I wonder what Andrés Segovia thought of picks...... Sand Paper, my Dunlop has something like that, braille dots. Been using it for 15 years, the same pick. If they were relying on me to keep the industry alive I let them down.

Les Paul invented the solid body electric guitar. He made the first guitar pickup out of phonograph needles. He also invented sound on sound recording. (overdubbing) He had too many other inventions to name, but is almost solely responsible for the modern recording industry.
@zigzagwanderer95316 жыл бұрын
I didn't see it as insults, but as the way two very close longtime friends would communicate, using a lot of inside joke/story references we're not privy to.
