Over a year since I first watched and commented on this video and I still think it's one of the best building guides found anywhere online. I think it's the fact that nothing is skipped, even cable management, which in the end is one of the hardest things about building. I know you're mainly an Intel man, but it would be awesome to see a fresh build in the $1200 range. Good time to build.

Damn dude, your build reasoning, quality, and overall physical instructions are so much better than like 95% of the larger names in PC gaming on KZfaq. Micro Center is wise to support you. And so will I with a like and a subscription. Been planning a build for awhile now, researching, trying to learn more, and most of all waiting for prices to drop. Been looking at that 6700 for awhile now, IMO it's the value card out there. That 12gbs of VRAM gives you a lot of freedom.

Very nice build, infact I am building this exact pc at the moment while following this guide. The only difference I made was I got a RX 6700 XT instead of an OC version because I was worried 600 W would not be enough.

I don't think you even understand how good of a guide this is, I love that you show, at least briefly, one of the most important things that no other guides show, cable management. I cannot tell you how many people come into our store a couple days after buying all their components and attempting to build their first PC only to return because they got overwhelmed by cables and proper connections. This is by far the biggest challenge I see for new builders yet no tutorials feature it. First time, consider spending a few extra dollars and going semi or fully modular. It's consistently the biggest pitfall I see for novice builders.

I've been running a 12400F/3060 rig for a few months now, and I'm really loving it. Very lower mid-range parts, but the performance is all I will need for at least 3-4 years. Single core performance is amazing on the 12th gen which always offers great frame timings in games.

FINALLY They finally aded the description marks for the front side panel. If you didnt have the motherboard manual (most likely dont) you will have no idea how to connect it.

I'd get AMD proc for the GPU. SAM makes a difference. Maybe a 5600(x). The 3600mhz ram would be perfect with it as well.

just built the same pc from micro center for 1000$ i got a red devil 6700xt a b550 tuf pro mobo ryzen 5 5600 32 gb of ram and 750 full modular evga psu i and a nzxt510 FLOW came in at 960$ and that was from micro center but going all amd they had 50$ the mobo cpu combo and another 20 off the gpu i love it i think the drivers are more simplified then nvidia at least to me i never owed nvidia but was playing on my buddies for a while but they both are great

Any reason to get one of the new cards over a used 1080ti for $225? This 6700 XT is 12.4 tflops and the 1080ti is only a little slower at 11 tflops

I assembled almost the same system. The ambient LEDs on my motherboard do not light up. Has this happened on your system as well? Is it due to ARGB connection?

My pc worth around 2.5k I prefer pc over consol but a 400-500$ ps5 or xbox ain't that far behind. The only issue with ps5 and xbox is that the ps4 and the xbox one is holding back thoes systems games could look alot better.

You should have at least mention that a Amd R5 5600 with the gigabyte b450m version is almost $100 cheaper at microcenter just think you could have spent $100 more on a GPU. Check out the i5 12400 vs R5 5600 comparsion on Gamer Nexus channel.

Open the fan's case and remove the wire connecting to the led. Dont forget to use electrical tape

This is almost good but as a recommendation for people who may try to follow these part choices in coming weeks/months: at this point it would honestly be best to go for i3 12100F and spend more on psu, get SSD with 3D TLC NAND and go for 32gb RAM. Games are starting to use enough RAM that you have to close programs with 16gb to make space. The Intel's 13th generation locked cpus like 13400F are coming in just couple of months and 3D QLC isn't exactly fastest or most durable flash memory for a main operating system use.

I agree with going with a QLC over a TLC SSD, but I have no problems gaming with 16GB ram while having Steam, GOG Galaxy, and Discord open in the background. Dropping to a 12100 over the 12400 will effect performance more than not having 32GB ram.

Recently I built a new $1000 pc, reused hdd and ssd so those aren't included in the cost but it has an AMD ryzen 5 5600x, 32gb ddr4 ram at 3600 MHz, and a Radeon RX 6600. 650W power supply, a 500 gb m.2 nvme ssd, and a 1tb hdd. Motherboard is an MSI B550-A pro.

You can either get a motherboard that comes with or get a module that you can connect to your motherboard

just get a $700 build (i would suggest 2060/i5 11th gen for gpu n cpu) then the $300 would be for monitor, keyboard n mouse.

Recommending i5 is not ideal when the R5 5600 is cheaper at $130 and it will work on any b450/b550 boards. You can't say the same for b560 boards when they are being throttled. But this is a sponsored video.

Built the pc and overall works great. The only problem is that my CPUs idle temperature sits about 7 degrees Celsius higher than his. Is this a problem or should it be okay?

I ended up going with: CPU: a ryzen 5 5600 (not 5600x) $128.33 MOBO: asrock b550 pro4 $104.99 RAM: 32 GB Teamgroup T-create DDR4 2x16GB 3200MHz for $66.99 GPU: msi ventus 3 fan 3060 ti for $429.99 (i tried to get a two fan for $410, but it sold out) Case: Phanteks Eclipse RGB version cuz RGB WOO $100 (could've gotten the non rgb version for $79.99) Bootdrive: Intel 670p 1 TB nvme 3.0x4 QLC for 59.99 PowerSupply: SuperFlower Leadex III 850W 80+ Gold fully modular for 109.99 (for possible upgradability in the future) Building this as a christmas gift for an uncle. Was contracted by the aunt lol. Let me know what y'all think. I think I plan on giving the 5600 a little overclock.

I feel like the ryzen 5 5600x is a lot better choice than intel here, motherboard same cost and cpu about same price as well. It perform most of the time better or even in most titles, intel performs a little better in some creative work tasks but the video is targeted for gaming. Also it feels wrong pairing intel with amd.

Problem is that AMD AM4 socket is at this point both outdated and basically dead. No new cpus to upgrade to and old feature versions/lack of features. the LGA1700 has better longevity as you can later upgrade to 13th gen. But then it would be wiser to just get i3 12100F at this point.

@@SapphireThunder How many people actually upgrade their CPUs every gen or every other gen? I highly doubt many people do. My 2 computers of the past 15 years, I have never upgraded my cpus, only the GPUs. Had a i7 920 for 7 years and then a i5 6600k for the last 7 years. Majority of my friends do the same, they just upgrade every 5ish years to a completely new system so the "end of a life cycle" doesn't really matter to most imo.

5600 is cheaper at the moment and performs the same as the X version. Newegg is currently has the 5600 for $140.

@@SapphireThunder I've had the ryzen 5 3600 for years now, It's paired up with the rx 6600. I don't think a cpu upgrade is necessary until after 2-3 gens. Current gen Cpu's right now are actually bottlenecked by gpus right now. I wouldn't consider a 13th gen intel nor ryzen 7000 until mobos and ddr5 memeory comes down. I will probably upgrade to a Zen 4 3D cache with b650 and ddr5.

@@jthiel0711 It's not a matter of upgrading every gen or every other gen, it's the matter of having the choice if needed. i3 12100F already isn't far off from 12400F or 5600 in performance. And the LGA1700 has support for PCI-E 5.0 and most recent implementation of Resizable BAR feature. With LGA1700 you have option for a cpu like i5 13400F or i7 13700T/F which would be far faster than anything you can have on AM4 with newer feature support.

Nice build. But personally I think I would have gone b550/Ryzen 5 5600 and taken advantage of SAM with the 6700 XT. I know that the b660 board will handle the 13600 when it comes out, but I highly doubt that Ryzen 5000 CPUs are going to hold back any modern GPU for quite a few years down the road. Especially if AMD decides to make "new" CPUs on the AM4 platform with 3d v-cache (ie 5600x3d or 5950x3d). I'm pretty sure I heard a rumor somewhere that that was a possibility in the near future, and also people at AMD hinted that they might keep AM4 around for the more budget oriented builders while targeting AM5 for more enthusiast builders.

Secondly, 3060ti may be found on the used market for $250-300 (refer to prices on marketplaces such as eBay and reddit's r/hardwareswap)

@@Tater1 the only 3060tis you're gonna get at those prices are ones being pulled from crypto farms, and most likely the cheaper ones are ones that were got at the beginning of the GPU shortage and were used to mine crypto 24/7/365 for the last 2 years straight.

I personally would buy a used HP pavilion tp01 with 5700g, 32gb ram and 512 nvme for about $450 and add a used rx6800 for about $400 and crush it. Just saying.

Man. Laptops have been killing it. For $1100, you get a laptop with a 140w 3070 (so, a desktop 3060ti and with tuning within 15% of a desktop 3070), a i7 12700h (within 10% of a desktop i7 12700), 16gb ddr5 ram and a 500gb nvme. Seems like a better deal than this computer.

@@meisterm5562 I bought a $300 gtx 1650 one. Might not sound impressive, but considering its India where there's heavy taxes, its pretty good. I upgraded its ram to 16gb and storage to 1tb + 500gb ssd. Used those parts from my old laptop.

I do not like the 6700xt. Given the flooded second hand GPU market rn, you can likely buy a 3070 or a 3070ti for around that price second hand
