Zac Bailey doesn’t get enough recognition. Might also add that he also loves coming in clutch (2021 Goal After Siren, assist in match winner in Elim final, crisp goal to put Lions in front in Granny). The more said about him, the better.

Gotta say Joe Daniher a little bit robbed for Number 3. Leading goalkicker for a grand final side who has greatly improved his skill in the past 12 months. No heat on Serong though, bloke is great.

Yeah I had Fogarty considered, didn’t worry too much about the honourable mentions just threw in players that popped out.

Why is clayton oliver above walker? You said is was on the 2023 season which walker did way better than oliver,

Yes but I also stated that I would factor in their career success and also their overall ability to get a balanced list, therefore picking clarry was the obvious choice.

@@Yitzzz Fair point, but Oliver is a multiple AA recipient and has won 2 AFL CA MVP awards. Also considering he was imo the best player in the comp last year and overall he’s one of the games best midfielders. So it’s hard to override a player like clarry. That was my thought process behind it.

Surely cooper Sharman over Reilly O’Brien, yes may not have played as much as him yet but look at his influence he has had when he has played, could’ve at least got a honourable mention

Harris got crazy robbed of AA, was easily top 2 best key defenders, he was way more consistant than Moore who fell off heaps in the later bits of the season. They really hate putting Lions players in the AA team it seems

I think jai newcombe is stiff to not even get a mention for number 3, yes a bit biased as a hawks supporter but the blokes an absolute gun no regrets.

I feel Dayne Zorko has been robbed. He should have been the best at 15 but to not even put him on honourable mentions. I know he hasn’t been the best this year but you put Clayton Oliver at the best number 13 saying someone that had a better year but cause of previous years Clayton was better unfair. That’s disrespect not only has Dayne been deserving of a honourable mention but should have been the best even this year. And other years he has made all Australian and a 5 time winner of the Brisbane lions BF. That’s pure disrespect man. But I love your work and keep it up this is just my opinion.

I respect you opinion man and glad you enjoy my stuff, but for the best player at number 15 it’s hard to go past Sam Taylor. He’s pretty much the comps best key defender, also won the b&f in 2022. My selections were based off a balance between the best current players & overall success/ability, so I’m not going with players past their prime (i.e Fyfe, Zorko). Oliver is in his prime at the moment and even though last year he was riddled with injury, he’s off the back of 2 consecutive coaches MVP awards & is ability wise still one of the games best mids.

He's a solid player but there's a bit of a gulf in comparison with Witts given he's the number 1 hit out ruckman in the comp.

That was my mistake, I had Ridley on my list forgot to copy him over onto the graphic. Comparison wise I’d have him over Bedford for sure.

Did consider Fyfe, but the criteria for the sections was picking the best current player, which would obviously be Merrett. If I were picking it on a career wise basis then yeah would be hard to go past Fyfe.
