I think that a range finder is an essential piece of equipment, not necessarily for "in the moment" use, but more for ranging significant features around your stand/blind, if your stationary, or for developing your ability to confidently estimate range as you stalk, "I think that tree is 10 yards away..." oh look, it's really 11, that is what 11 yards looks like

100% agree. Learning to judge distances it’s critical. Rifle hunting and long range anything… also critical. Shoot they have a lot of great uses outside of hunting.

Every bow is different. I have ilf bows and 3 piece bows with different riser lengths. Different weight limbs. My nock point varies from 3/16ths to 5/8 th of an inch from different bows. I am split vision also to maintain my gap. I set my nock hight to be point on 25 yards.I aim 4 inches low 20 yards and aim 4 inches high 30 yards. I never have my arrow off the deer's chest..

I shoot split. At 20 yards and in my gap is so big its almost impossible to use.

@@rayspackman1885 3/4 the distance from the deers back to the ground?

I really don't see split vision exactly as a specific aiming method. It's just gap shooting with you focusing on the target. In gap shooting you still have to pick a spot to focus on otherwise your consistency will be all over the place. I see split vision as just gap shooting done properly.

That’s one way of looking at it. I find it humorous though when purest chastise a method used by one the for fathers of our sport. Hill went into pretty great depth on this. I agree with your interpretation.

@@EthanPageHunter Yeah it's hilarious how people in archery are so combative. They look down upon any form of aiming and they really don't like a thumb draw despite these methods being as old as time. Funny thing is I find a lot of these "instinctive" guys aren't even shooting instinctive. They were just too lazy to learn proper form so they just fling arrows at targets with no rhyme or reason hoping some of them land on the target which I don't find ethical for hunting what-so-ever.

@@Bowfella interesting,so Howard Hill & Byron Ferguson were just flinging arrows? Have you ever watched the John Schultz videos? Just curious?👍🏹🎯🦌🦃
@Bowfella Жыл бұрын
@@anthonyforfare7223 Well no shit, they did instinctive shooting properly and still displayed proper form such as a good followthrough and alignment. I'm saying most guys that are getting into archery that say they shoot "instinctive" are just saying that because they don't know proper form and are just flinging arrows with no rhyme or reason.

@@Bowfella ok take that crappy attitude and put your arrogance in check I was asking a simple question
