Thank you so much. I’m a first time homebuyer right now still shopping for insurance. I was told to go with citizens since it’s a cheap rate and I’d save, but now I’m rethinking that and going to get a quote from some of the “so-so” companies.

@@SLICE_y0 citizens should only be chosen if you have no other option Remember it's a "state" insurance company backed by the government Nobody should ever rely on the government

After paying for homeowner's insurance in FL for 33 years, and never even making a claim, it made sense to go bare,especially after rates went through the roof. But I'm careful to save the premium amount in a CD,so the repair funds will be readily available "just in case".

Wow have you opened our eyes brother. Florida sucks basically and maybe you just take your chances? We are still very confused as nationwide dropped us after zero claims in 20 years. Now, we keep getting quote from different insurance writers and they are seem to suck. They make it so confusing to homeowners. We get depressed as hell and loaded with stress everyday trying to pick one. Any suggestions, non flood zone, in Sarasota,

It's all zip code sensitive so you just have to call a few agents No other way to do it because not every ins Co will write policies in your area

A homeowner has to find the "best" insurance company that writes policies in your specific zip code. many companies may not write policies in your zip code

I’ve had Universal for 19 years in Fl. I had a new roof in 2018 and the claim process was very easy and quick. They have recently raised my premium by $1,000 a year and changed my $500 hurricane deductible to 2%. I’m skeptical of Kin and Slide which both have better rates. But I’ve been with the worst company all along 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

I could save $1,000 a year with Kin or Slide. I don’t like paying $300 a month for home insurance. Are there any other options?

@@jasondetreich4204 you have to check with your agent on options in your zip code. Depending where you live many companies might not write policies in your zip code

are Banks (mortgage writers) using there companies to write policies ? it used to be they were more than the private market but they are probably cheaper now

They contract with outside insurance companies who specialize in "forced place" insurance

KIN insurance was horrible for me. Premium went from $2400 to $7100 over 3 years. KIN is a virtual black whole. They have no real physical location that you can talk to someone. You just get pasted around on an automated phone system. I can NOT wait to switch

You also LIED about Kin Insurance water damage limits. They have FULL water damage coverage available dude! You ever actually read?!! Wow!

@@melodystaub9763 Every older home in FL has a 10k water damage limit If you have a new house they prob offer full coverage I'm sure Thats easy money for insurance companies since it's unlikely anything happens with new home If you have a new house how about this I will be happy to insure you myself and beat KINs rates Good luck with claims lol They don't have to abide by Florida laws since they from Chicago I love ppl who have no clue trying to call out an expert. Anything else you like?

I do not live in Florida. I am a licensed insurance professional with 35 years experience. I just hate LIES. I also refuse to have anything to do with FL home insurance or MI auto insurance because both states are crazy. Once again, 150 million in profit vs billions paid out in claims. Insurance companies are not ripping anyone off in FL. Earning a few million in profit will not make up for billions paid out in claims. You all want great coverage but don’t want to pay for it.

@@melodystaub9763 ahh so the truth comes out An insurance agent who loves to screw people by your own failure to tell them the lack of coverages insurance companies provide because you guys don't actually know anything about what's in those policies . I see this all the time and we actually have at least 8 current E & O lawsuits against agents like you for not telling ppl they don't have certain coverages. I also see you are not very keen on accounting or have any idea how it works. You do realize that $150 million in profit (as you stated) can be manipulated to be more or less. Based on that $150 M their actual profit I would bet is 10x that number.

This guy is LYING to you. All insurance carriers writing homeowners insurance in Florida only made 150 million in profit in 2023. That is ALL insurance companies combined! In 2022 insurance companies paid out 1.53 Billion in claims. In 2021 they paid out 1.8 Billion. Source: Fortune Magazine, NOT insurance companies. The math doesn’t math dude! You lie!
