Nearly every homeowner's insurance policy includes coverage for sudden and accidental loss, which is exactly what water damage from a running faucet is considered to be. It doesn't matter whether or not it was your own fault or that of a small child playing on his or her own. Is this accurate?
@theclaimsquadpublicadjusters
@theclaimsquadpublicadjusters 17 күн бұрын
If the faucet was left on accidentally they will likely not cover it . There has to be something that causes the water loss like a breakage, crack, when referencing loss from a plumbing, AC, or fire protective system. If the faucet was leaking because there was a crack somewhere then yes it will be covered. You will have to show what was repaired by a plumber. Policy will not cover your own neglect whether that was known or unknown neglect by you, a dog, friend or family member

Any mitigation company without an Assignment of Benefits shouldn't be trusted. AOBs are a necessary layer of protection for these companies to make sure that customers don't have legal grounds to run off with money gained as a function of your estimate and work. That in tandem with lien rights are the ONLY protections these contractors have to make sure they get paid. Even then they many times aren't effective enough. AOBs also streamline payment so that financial institutions don't behave as middle managers delaying payment to a degree that sometimes causes liens to be filed. It also prevents a customer's personal financial situation from impacting the payment of insurance money to the contractor. This advice honestly only applies if you are a customer who wants to commit fraud or make profit on your claim. Both of which are unethical.
@lowfatlatte0

lol, the mitigation bill is the mitigation bill. I have seen an insurance company take deductible out of mitigation check before. This advice may be slightly too broad. A public adjuster pretending to be a roofing expert is not illegal, but should be. A roofing company doesn’t dispute anything but damage, assuming the roofing companies whole emphasis is restoration of properties be it residential or commercial. The only thing public adjusters provide is an exalted and inflated price for the repairs, thereby ensuring a claim that should take a week to resolves takes a year. This of course assuming the PA doesn’t bring in his attorney , which in that case takes minimum 4 years. Not to mention there is no more funds to restore the property because the attorney has taken 40% and the PA has taken his 10% plus. Give me a break. Don’t be afraid to bring in a roofing company.

The gentleman is 100% correct about how to report an insurance claim. Also never say the words "rot" or "mold" when making a claim. If you are filing a claim for wind or hail damage be certain to know the dates that high winds or hail were recorded in your area so that you can have the accurate date of loss when filing. I am a huge fan of public adjusters as they have done more to keep the insurance industry honest than most any other entity. VERY IMPORTANT! 1. Never sign a PA contract that removes you, the insured homeowner as a payee. Make it so the PA can't endorse the insurance proceed check without your approval and signature. Most PA firms will do it this way anyways. 2. Also be certain to negotiate in advance in the contract with the public adjuster on how and if additional fees are handled separately for extraordinary expenses above and beyond the normal costs of doing business, such as expert witness fees and expenses, engineer and inspection fees. If they have to employ special services it is more than likely necessary. Just follow the PA's advice but be certain to know how these services are paid out. 3. Negotiate the PA payment percentage lower as the claim amount gets larger. In my opinion, you should never ever pay more than 20% for a public adjuster or you will risk not having enough money left to actually repair the covered damages. 4. Never pay a public adjuster money upfront and in fact in most states I believe this to be illegal anyways. 5. Your public adjuster should get $0 dollars if he or she doesn't get you an insurance award. Be sure the contract stipulates that. 6. Often it is better to seek help from a public adjuster after you have received the insurance company offer and have already consulted with a reputable contractor. At that point if you and your contractor feel that the insurance company was unfair with their offered claim settlement, simply hire the public adjuster at that time. They can certainly make the difference in receiving a correct and fair payout. 7. Remember, if you choose to hire the PA and sign a contract with them before you see what the insurance company is willing to offer in settlement, you will still be on the hook to pay the public adjuster and forfeit 10% to 20% of your available rebuild money.

Boy you insurance claim adjusters really have no clue on how things are done. I'm literally scratching my head on all your points. The insured is always on the check Not surprising you didn't know that A PA contract can't omit the insureds name from the check lol Your other points don't even have a place, ignore state laws that PAs have to abide by, and seems to be far off point to PA contracts You insurance claim guys should worry about paying claims. For the drywall it would be the Association responsible. Any personal items you should put thru your own insurance. If it's not that much it might not even be worth filing a claim. Try to work out with him the personal items would be my suggestion.

@@theclaimsquadpublicadjusters oh ok, thanks Mike. I'm trying to help me sister get this situation resolved with no avail. When you don't know how to handle crooked insurance companies you can get messed up.

Florida public adjusters are some of the lowest class of people around. Pawns of a criminal plaintiff attorney insurance fraud scheme based on laws that are now changed. In several states, public adjusters are completely banned due to the conflict of interest to induce fraud

Wow have you opened our eyes brother. Florida sucks basically and maybe you just take your chances? We are still very confused as nationwide dropped us after zero claims in 20 years. Now, we keep getting quote from different insurance writers and they are seem to suck. They make it so confusing to homeowners. We get depressed as hell and loaded with stress everyday trying to pick one. Any suggestions, non flood zone, in Sarasota,
