Options are like sports. There is an option strategy out there for everyone! Since starting my options career I have tried many out to see what is the best options strategy for beginners in my opinion. After doing Spreads, Iron Condors, The Poor Mans Covered Call, and LEAPS options, the best for beginners is the Wheel Strategy. The wheel uses cash secure puts and covered calls to collect premium from the buyer of the option.
In this video I will talk about why I love the wheel strategy, why is is great for beginners looking to trade options and a new investing challenge I started with @jjbuckner on the Fidelity Brokerage!

Great video as always. Do you normally set limit order or market order when executing your order? If limit order, what bid price are you comfortable with when selling CSP or CC to not selling it for cheap? Thanks

Generally set a limit.. That price depends on the trade, the spread, and how much im willing to give up

Yeah that happens. A lot things have to go well on the buy side of things! Good luck with the wheel.. Look into the Poor Mans Covered Call and LEAPS next time you get the itch to buy

Still learning and very curious, I’ve watched all your options videos - any particular/strategic reason why you started with AAPL CCs vs AAPL CCPs?

Yes. The day I wanted to make the trade was a Green Day so the premiums for CC's were higher than the premiums of CSP. I go into this in detail in the next episode of the average money podcast. Nice. Love the vid. Can you explain why you selected VUG however? Isn’t that an ETF? And will your main wheel strategy come from AAPL right now? Primarily doing leaps with AAPL but want to get back into the wheel. Any suggestions besides Apple. Dont have 14k right now available 😅

@@BradFinn Absolutely! There are not many fidelity trade videos on here and it would really help me a lot. Also Fidelity has different levels for options trading so I can't do many of the trades that I would like at my level 3

@@BradFinn "funny" enough i did not know either up until now, i got the message after a trade yesterday when i sold 100 shares on a loss which i bought in the morning and sold in the evening. My guess it is something about the settle period. As i tried to sell it on a small loss as i had a option coverin that loss but this rule 201 triggered and made my trade delay on the stock causing a bigger loss:( I was really angry as i timed the 2 trades perfectly and this ruined it. Apperantly for no reason then this rule. And my option was a covered call on the stock but i sold the option first and then the stocks so should not be in any way short selling what this SEC 201 rule implies... Dont even have a margin account to support any short selling and if i would to try to sell a call without shares it would not let me , so strange this happened....

As far as fidelity goes you can't do anything with puts at options level 1. only covered calls +rolling and buy writes

I understand that if you sell a call or put you earn a premium and seemingly if you buy a call or put you pay a premium, but I don't understand why anybody would buy a call or put since you can just place a limit order for the stock you want to buy or sell, for free. Not sure what other differences there are between buying calls and put and selling calls and put, besides earning or paying a premium.?

I believe doing the poor man's covered call give leverage, provide downside protection, better diversification,less capital intensive and generate better ROI than the wheel strategy.

Why does it take level 3 to do poor man covered call as he said in video? I'm not even knowing what level 3 is, I looked at Schwab, I have level 1 ( whatever that means).

level 3 is usually spreads. multiple things happening in each contract. more risk

I failed my very first option pick. I scrapped up $654 and bought EXPR. It’s now a dead cat, and I haven’t sold a weekly call for 2 weeks now. Disappointing.

@@BradFinn essentially selling premium with high iv stocks about 45 days out and closing out when it hits like 50 percent profit and rolling out the losing positions until they eventually become winners. And basically using lots of small trades.
