sorry but some really good paint brands are under the student grade section so can you specify because some people might think that they have to buy paint that they really can not afford like winsor and newton cotman are student paints but are amazing thanks I love your content

The Shinhan Watercolor Set that you suggest may be student grade but it’s soooooo nice to use! The color is beautifully vibrant, the paint is so smooth and silky, it re-wets amazingly and it’s so darn affordable! I have a LOT of brands of watercolor as a beginner and these are my faves right next to the Mission Gold Set. I’m a true beginner and a supply purchasing junky...the Shinhan Set is really nice!

The shinhan watercolor is beauuuuutiful! It’s the best for the price for sure! The colors are stunning and the go down like professional paint, sooooo pretty!

You said don’t buy student grade and then showed student grade paints. I think you meant don’t buy craft watercolor like crayola? Artist and professional grade are usually more expensive and just because they say “professional” doesn’t actually make them professional grade. Just clearing that up because beginners might be confused.

Thank you so much! I'm just starting because I'm only 12, but In would just love to use watercolors! How do you mix non-muddy colors? Also, for starting, can I use my mixed media sketchbook?

Mixing only 2-3 colors to create your desired color is the best way to keep your colors bright and not muddy. I like to also use layers of colors one on top of the other! You can use a mixed media sketchbook for studies and experimenting but it is probably 90lb paper. Unless the paper is 140lb I wouldn’t use it for finished work. Practice makes perfect!
