Best BFS Catch so far! New Species! Golden Perch!

Today we go fishing for Perch and YellowBelly with a new budget ultralight BFS rod, the Mavllos Ultima Bass..This was a really quick session but I was lucky enough to land a new species and a pretty good one at that. If you know where to cast it can make your sessions alot more efficient.

Yea definitely. Now I need to upgrade it! They are often caught a few inches bigger than this one.

Thanks, pretty happy to get one quickly into my journey to get my first. Reasonable size too and was there about 10 minutes. I got that first and the reddie after but I edited it around so that the best was last.

Yes very happy because I caught it within less than 10mins of fishing. I've had 3 sessions before this trying to get one at various spots and really wanted to get one this year. So happy to tick it off the list.

That day I threw a 1/16 and 1/8 jighead and plastic, for that I'd say it doesn't cast any better than anything else. I have figured out you need to have the brakes high and the tension low on the Acura. It free spools very well so I'd imagine it's the best value reel for sub 2g

@@19ZOLTAN18 yea I also have another Soloking reel, the BMC100. I just tested that the other day and had the same issues, was bombing long casts with the long rod but as soon as I dropped the brakes below 4 the spool would blow up

Hey mate! Nice fish you got there. Just wondering, where did you purchase the sembo 117 air ? Also, I lost a spring washer for my Seasir commando, will I be able to contact seasir and order the part?

The sembo is no longer available. I think they were receiving too many complaints and refund requests so they stopped selling it. The commando, I haven't dealt with seasir directly so unable to say but it's definitely worth a try. Do you mean the clip that holds in the bearing on the palm side plate? You can search for circlip kits on AliExpress, I'm sure you'll find one that suits.

You don't wanna know....in this video I was actually using the 10lb braid from Kmart. I had it in my stash for a long time and thought I would test it out. It's a bit thick for 10lb but does the job.

@@19ZOLTAN18 it's not the platypus Pulse is it? I had alot of problem with that on spinning reels. Never have wind knot issues but I did with that braid. On my Silver Feather I have Varivas Super Trout Finesse x4 in .08 gou. Thats my favourite

@@yep.fishing yeah the pulse x8. I have J-braid expedition on my UL spinning so i tried it on my BFS and was getting line digging and knots. So I tried something thicker but cheaper. I guess I’m still a noob at baitcasting and I most likely over spooled it. I might give it another go with less line. ITs recommended 85m pe#1. Thats what the pulse x8 is. The J-braid expedition says its pe#0.8 but its 0.10mm so I guess its a pe#0.4? I did see a video you posted that they lie about diameter but it’s definitely very thin braid!

Check the J Braid Expedition video from the Line Laboratory and you'll find out what the diameter is. Even if they didn't test the #1.0 they will say what percentage thicker it is compared to the claimed diameter so you'll have a fair idea. That's good line from what I've heard. Yea if lines are below .10mm they can become a problem. I used Atomic Linez 12lb which is apparently .07mm but tested at .1 I believe (I submitted it to the lab) but I still find that a bit on the thin side. I like something about .12-.14mm and usually 75m. I split a 150m spool in half.
