Tour the INCREDIBLE Powers BMX Museum with the man himself, Chad Powers! This museum has almost every BMX magazine ever printed, the rarest of the BMX videos, bikes ranging from the origin of freestyle BMX to modern day BMX, anAMAZING Profile Racing collection, as well as a super awesome S&M Bikes line up, and so so so much more!
It would take an entire day to go over the museum and talk about every single piece so Chad went over some of the highlights including his first ever BMX bike and this video just scratches the surface. Come check it out for yourself at Powers BMX Shop in Richmond VA!!!
Thank you for choosing to spend your time watching one of my videos!

I'm 48 and still have all my bikes. They are in my parents basement and I haven't even thought of them in over 30 years until I saw this video. Diamond Back formula one, Free Agent mini, Boss, Schwinn Predator, Various GT, Hutch, Skyway. CW Racing scooters. Lots of Redline cranks, dk necks, z-rims never used. I'll be busy next weekend!! Woo-hoo

You can’t beat OLD SKOOL BMX.May be I’m biased as I grew up with BMX in the early to mid 1980s,so I saw it become huge.Virtually everyone I knew had a BMX bike(the most popular bike was the PK RIPPER,so many people I know owned them, especially street riders) but GTs, DIAMOND BACKS, REDLINES, MONGOOSE SUPERGOOSES, RALEIGH BURNERS,were also popular.I love the fact that so many people in their 50s(like myself),60s and even 70s, are riding both 20 and 24 inch BMX bikes.BMX seemed to go through a slump in the late 80s and early 90s, but those that were still racing, freestylin and street riding kept it going when loads had abandoned it for mountain bikes. And now you have the likes of SE, MONGOOSE, RALEIGH, SKYWAY and HUTCH for example who have rereleased 80s BMX bikes.MONGOOSE rereleased the SUPERGOOSE and CALIFORNIA a couple of years back, and they sold out(some ending up on eBay and selling for STUPID prices).I’m waiting for MONGOOSE to rerelease the PRO CLASS in 24 inch as the PRO CLASS was a classic in both 20 and 24 inch and I’ll be buying a 24 inch PRO CLASS.😉

@@derekharrison1582I’ve also noticed over the years the geometry of bmx has changed ever since they moved on from threaded forks where it was easier to raise and lower the stem. Mid school bikes were super heavy and small with the bolt on style stems. They should re release a batch like old school with mag wheels

Totally rad, dude. I agree with the "leave it original" philosophy...clean it up, service it, make it functional and call it a day. Restored bikes are cool too and they're definitely nice to look at but there is just something magical about an old BMX bike in its original condition and the story that it tells.

……growing up in 60’s we were early on what would become BMX and modded our 20” stingrays bars, tires, seat. Reduce weight and remove fenders, chain guard etc…because we were too young for a dirt bikes. We made a moto track that many would come from miles to ride. At almost 65 now I’m still a fan of bmx, skateboarding and surf life. Thanks for the great tour vlog 🤙🏼

Did my heart good when the first bike I saw, in prime viewing position, was the Yamaha Moto-Bike. So sweet! Dad broke the piggy bank and my brother and I both got very special Christmas surprises. They were $120 each in 1974 and a huge splurge for a Greyhound bus driver, but he rode Yamaha and wanted his kids to as well. What a blast!

I'm 42 years old. I loved my 97 Haro group 1 Ti. Had sst orgy gyro on it, Matt Hoffman bars, GT grips, alienation/redline 48 spoke wheels with flip flop rear hub. Rode that bike everywhere. Sadly, it sat in my parents' garage for years, and they just gave it away to some kid. Hope the kid loved it as much as I did. But I still wish I still had my first true Real BMX bike. Have so many stories about riding it. And the story all started after i got hooked because of watching Rad the movie at a friend's house. That movie was our holy grail into bmx

52 yrs old and this was our childhood throughout the early to mid 80s.. We had a couple of BMX stores in our CT town with a couple of tracks that were in made in the woods by local neighborhood kids... It was such a bookmark in all the guys who grew up in this era... Jst to see some of these bikes again brings you right back to one of the best memories growing up... Myself as well as many of the guys I grew up with could walk around this place playing remember when for hours... This is truly a very special place of not only BMX history but as well as a piece of American culture!!

When I was a kid (56 now) a kid in our neighborhood had one of those Yamaha suspension bmx bikes. We all loved to jump it, because it had the suspension, and although it was a tank, it handled pretty good compared to what were were riding, which was mostly junk. This was around 1977/78

Wicked set up, I started with a home made BMX back in 82, before my mum bought me a new Morrison Super X ( New Zealand made ) in 83. Started racing it did pretty well but bike was very heavy so then got a second hand Redline 500a before getting my pride and joy a new Hutch Pro Racer in 84 costing NZ $1100,which I raced until I stopped in 88,I swapped out the 1pce cranks for 3pc profile costing NZ $500 with bear trap pedals. Other bikes I had along the way were a Craig Campbell signature freestyle bike, Mongoose Supergoose and a Pantha 24inch ( NZ made ). Old school 20 inch 80s BMX here in NZ go for good money as they become rarer.

Feel exactly the same about my black chrome edition 95’ or 96’ Diamondback Viper. I picked it out at my local bike shop , Ringling Bikes in Bradenton FL (closed now). I remember they sold Dyno’s and DB and many other brands. But according to the salesman, the DB Viper was better than the Dyno GT. Couldn’t tell you if that was actually true or not but I def felt like I had a cooler bike than most other kids in the neighborhood with there Dyno GT’s.

I'm 54 and I still have my Redline pl20 that I raced in the early 80s. It was my last bike that I raced but I also raced a Paterson A GT and a diamondback

Very cool museum! I have a pair of NOS Dyno high tops that have never been worn (size 10) that are still in the original Dyno box. They probably belong at this museum.

The 4th bike you showed. The 1974 Dan Gurney bike. I just bought back my Dan Gurney Eagle Mono Shock bike that i had at 14. I'm 57 now. So glad to get it back to pass on to my Grandson.

I still have my 1986 GT Pro World Tour. I remember how happy I was to get it from Rockville BMX. I wish that store still existed so I could take my kids there and buy them bikes from the same place I got mine.

That place is amazing I still have my favorite bike from the 90's. It was a Zreonine frame until it snapped the I used a Edlone RL340 frame with Skyway handle bars, Perigrine HP 48 rims and tyres, with a GT seat poll, Tioga crank and odyssey brakes and gyro. She is a classic beast and will always have it.

LOVE IT! Oh man, I haven't seen a Schwinn Scrambler in forever (Ashtabula forks!)! I went from that to a Mongoose nickle-plated classic, but with traditional wheels. My friend Donny had MotoMags. Why didn't I keep those old bikes??? Oh well, time to visit the museum!!!
