I spent 30 years in the Kempo system. I believe there are variations in what is called a horse stance across systems. We would tilt the pelvis under (flatten the back) which it doesn't look like you are doing. I can't do the pelvis-under variation due to possible arthritis in the right hip. I don't recall what the point of the pelvis under position was, but it looks like I can still get benefit from the more relaxed pelvis position, so maybe I'll bring that back into my routine. Thanks!

Happy 2024. Thank you for all the videos, advice, and caring you've provided over the years. I have a question about this exercise, I tried it and it puts some seriously heavy strain on my knee ( meniscus root tear, extrusion repair surgery) am I flexing my knee out wrong, not pointing my toes correctly (I understand the horse stance, jujitsu and former barrel racer) or should I do a different exercise to strengthen my knee before I attempt this leg strengthener? Thank you for all you do, I really appreciate all of you!
@BobandBrad

You may need to modify your toe and knee position so it doesn't hurt and over time work toward the noted stance. It really depends on how your knee joints are after surgery. I wish you well. Be patient, please. Brad

Also what would you suggest to handle or treat or just cope with with lower back problems. I can achieve a similar position to what you are showing (and feel a good burn in the quads)....but tutorials from other channels say to go much deeper.....something which is very uncomfortable for me, and I think even unattainable at my age and flexibility limitations.

I have had osteo arthritis of the left knee for about 15 years, and for the most part, the more I walk, do stairs, squats and the horse stance I never have any issues. Occasionally I will start to feel discomfort, and then I take turmeric and black pepper mixed in water for a few days and it clears up. I realize this will not work for everyone but it is worth trying.
