Going purely by age and experience, an MBA seems like a better choice. But we've seen (and worked) with mature candidates who've chosen MS too, though that number is substantially lower. No country is a 'safe' bet, including India. When you're leaving a stable job, you're simultaneously embracing all the risks that come with job hunting. When you're outside India, those risks get amplified.

Assuming you're referring to the Asia School of Business, we don't have any first hand information about the program. So you'll have to rely on your initial research that prompted you to apply there - hopefully there were aspects beyond costs too. Also, don't include MIT in the decision, as the collab would give you no added advantage over ASB's independent brand value in the market. Btw, there is a wide range of programs between 15L and 1 Cr. So you don't have to settle for either extreme. What GMAT score did you apply with? Didn't consider programs in Europe?

Europe is a good choice for folks who're around 30. Bschools there attract a more mature mix of students, as the program duration is lesser (usually 1 year). A high GMAT / GRE is always helpful, but it is not a cover-up for a career gap. In your case, the gap is quite significant, so don't rush into an MBA before you're clear about where you want to take your career. The average experience in most American MBA programs is around 5 years. That makes 2 years too less. On the 3-year degree query, we have a detailed video on how to apply with 15 years of education. The specialty rankings are a bit of an iffy thing actually. For industries such as consulting and banking, there are clear feeder programs. But for other sectors, you'd be better off aiming for any good, reputed program and then doing all you can (on your own) to reach out to potential recruiters, even if they don't have a long, formal recruitment history at the bschool. After AI (Artificial Intelligence) what is the scope/future of MBA grads, I guess all the work would be replaced by some AI tool in future. What do you suggest?
@MBACrystalBall
@MBACrystalBall Жыл бұрын
If you consider the kind of jobs that are getting replaced by AI, you'll see a trend. They're mostly roles that involve grunge work that's monotonous, time-consuming and voluminous. Management challenges don't generally fit into those buckets, which makes them more complicated to define as a sequence of steps that have a clear input and clear output. Two questions for you: What role are you in currently? What makes it complex?

In most cases, bschools do not ask for documentation to prove what you've claimed. Unless they have reason to suspect that the candidate hasn't been completely honest. Several bschools also hire third parties to carry out background checks on the candidates. If what you say is true, you have nothing to worry about. This is how it usually is for any role that one starts off with. Mainland Europe has been a tough market to crack for international students, with visa policies as well as cultural/language hurdles. But he tide has turned in the UK from last year, with the new policy on more favourable student work visas. Ireland is quite favourable too, but the number of MBA opportunities isn't as high as it is in the UK. What experience do you have? And what industry/role are you targetting?

@@MBACrystalBall I am a recent law graduate, as of now I will be working as a corporate lawyer for atleast 2-3 years before I go for the MBA. Post MBA, I am aiming for a career in fintech (open banking etc). So both career and location change is the aim.

Many European programs are shorter in duration (typically 1 year) and attract a relatively older student cohort. So 2-3 years would be on the lower side for those programs. Are you dropping USA from the list for the same reason - visa challenges?

INSEAD is not a country...yet! But with passionate fans like you, it could very well be just a matter of time before it becomes one :-)

Australia attracts thousands of international students, but other than a handful business schools, many of the universities there don't exactly fit the global quality standards. In fact, this years Global 100 MBA Rankings published by the Financial Times, there's just one bschool (AGSM) that makes the list. We have a video on MBA in Australia where we explain what's happening there.
