Hello everyone, here's the BEST and EASIEST way to change your Honda civic (any generation , 6th , 7th , 8th , 9th or 10th) brake pads and rotors (discs) It is very very simple to do, takes less than an hour and half for the front and rear. Garages will quote you around 300$ to 400$ or either the FRONT or the rear (including parts & labours of course).
The instruction also applies or is very similar for every Honda or Acura including Accord, CRV, Ridgeline , Pilot, Oddysey , MDX , RDX , TLX , ILX , TSX , TL , RL , RLX and so on. Every Honda or Acura is engineered very similarly (Just different parts). Simple & Easy to work on , no crazy Triple Square like for Audi or Porsche or Volkswagen.

Yesssss Doesn’t matter how ‘old’ it is, rust knows no age… ALWAYS take brake cleaner and a wire brush or metal whiz wheel if you have one and clean hub and caliper bracket (all mounting surfaces)

Some rotors are designed with curved vanes. If you have that type there is a left and right based on the curve of the vanes. They aren't necessarily installed with the slot towards the front of the car.

@@graystripe393 The manual impact driver with Philips bit is way better option than any JIS hand screwdriver for screws that sit in rotor for some time. He got them removed even without penetrating oil. Try this with all praised JIS screwdriver. Good luck.

Just an FYI dude... the slot on the rotor is to wipe the pad and stop "glossing" between the pad and rotor. The drilled holes are for the out-gassing and cooling.

Do you have to worry about the on board computer on the rear rotors replacement
@MTLJack
@MTLJack 3 жыл бұрын
Good question! The answer is no. The only time you have to worry about the on-board computer is when you have a "digital" or "electronic" handbrake. Also, Honda / Acura does not have any brake pad wear sensors. They aren't like the audi / bmw / benz where you have to change the sensor after the light is on. It is a simple button instead of a emergency brake lever which you pull manually.

they are there to hold the rotors during manufacturing. There's 3 ways to remove them : use a manual impact driver with a number 2 socket and punch it , use a grinder to cut it off or use a dremel with a bit to break it off.
