In this video, we’re going to talk about the best foods for the keto flu.
The keto flu isn’t quite like having influenza-it doesn’t involve an infection or virus. Instead, it is the result of low electrolytes while your body adapting to ketosis.
Symptoms of the keto flu include:
• Lethargy
• Weakness
• Aches
• Brain fog
• Nausea
• Headaches
The best remedies for the keto flu are:
• Salty foods (add sea salt!)
• Bone broth
• Foods high in potassium
• Greens + sea salt
• Avocado + sea salt
In summary, the cause of the keto flu is a deficiency or imbalance of electrolytes, including sodium and potassium.
When you first start Healthy Keto and intermittent fasting, one to two of your meals should include a large salad or other vegetables with sea salt. This will help replenish your potassium and sodium.
Avocados with sea salt are one of my favorite things to have for low potassium and sodium.
Give these tips a try, and let me know how they work for you in the comments below.

I think a significant part of keto flu and fasting by day 4 is the body aches and pains of oxalate detox as one has just dropped most or all of their typical diet-sourced oxalate, and now the body is detoxing it. That aches/hurts all over!

I noticed that I started feeling nausea and weakness after several weeks in with no issues. In retrospect, it was when I went from eating a great big salad to having a small side salad. I made the change because I was getting so full I didn't want to have my protein. I have also been forgetting to add my nutritional yeast flakes to my salad. I was also eating later than I had been, so I wanted that full feeling mostly gone before bed. I do OMAD so I'm going to try putting a short break between my salad and protein or maybe add the protein (and my nutritional yeast and pink salt) to my salad when it makes sense, so I can stay within my 1-hour window. I'm down 41 lbs in 11 weeks with a long road still ahead, so I want to keep this train moving! Thanks, Dr. Berg - your videos seem to always be so timely for me 😊

It contains 280mg of potassium for a whole bottle. It’s better than most other brands of this kind but you would have to take about 15 bottles a day to reach only the minimum level for potassium. And they add 7g of sugar per bottle. It’s way cheaper to have a bottle of water with a few scoops of Dr Berg’s electrolytes in. And there’s no sugar added.

My story is that I practiced retention for a year and a half (starting in 2019) because I thought sexual type activities generated fatigue and anxiety (and worse). It was actually my diet (perhaps in combination with those sexual acts they seemed to have drawbacks), so in 2020 I said "I'm coming back to the world of climaxing", and I've been back and forth on it since then, never quite sure if I'm on the right track. As it turns out, when I'm off sugar, I get energized part of the time by climax or stimulation, but when I've indulged, the activity generates aches and pains and sinuses and anxiety. That's how I see things at the moment, and it took a lot of confusing results from practicing these activities over the past 9 months, to finally see what was needed and what wasn't! I think you call the condition post orgasmic illness syndrome, but like I said, my diet plays a huge role as well. That and avoiding excess stimulation to more than twice a day, that didn't benefit me much the times I tried it!
@caseyburnet
@caseyburnet 2 жыл бұрын
@armoured-bicycle Yeah, during the time I was abstinent from orgasm, I also picked up edging after about 8 months. The results were super energy, confidence, and social skills enhancements. But as you said, the metabolism boosting aspect of it is a huge benefit also, and going back to it today I see it's like drinking one or two cups of coffee. Weight loss, energy, better skin. It's like it enhances all aspects of health!

@armoured-bicycle It's as I said, I saw drawbacks in my state of health and made a connection with orgasms. They may or may not be a source of some physical and psychological issues I experienced. The diet might have been to blame also. Anyways, edging provides me with the weight loss and energy boosts I need, and it's immediate. I think it's useful for muscle building also, but I've only been back into it consistently for under a week. I've only ever done it properly (the right amount) for 1-2 week periods...

Hello Dr. Berg, Could you make a detailed video on seborrheic rashes? I have been suffering from red, dry, flaky and every like 3 days days very itchy and irritated skin. It first started around my nose and eyebrows. Then it moved to my forehead, hairline, scalp, back of the head and now its around my facial hair. I have seen a dermatologist and he prescribed me a shampoo and cream. I feel like they have an on and off function. Sometimes they help and sometimes they dont. I can't wvwn point out what causes it. I eat 90% of the time really healthy. Do I need to drink more water? I really dont know anymore. I COULD REALLY NEED YOUR ADVICE AND GUIDANCE.

Lacking potassium. Dr Berg’s electrolytes is the cheapest solution by far. And it has all the key minerals & trace minerals. If one has enough potassium, hunger decreases and foods costs decrease. Also I would at least make the milk into kefir in order to remove the carbs.

you have to avoid sugar and carbs because they raise blood sugars and then demand insulin to bring them down..so by keto the need for insulin goes down...berberine also helps with insulin resistancia

Question: I don’t get any of the symptoms mentioned, but 2 days in my heart rate jumps up 20bpm (until I consume enough carbs to pull out of ketosis). I upped my magnesium intake a few months ago when my Apple Watch notified me of atrial fibrillation (confirmed at the hospital - they gave me an Mg infusion and kept me overnight), and all minerals (K, Mg, Na, etc.) now look to be in the normal range as far as standard lab results indicate… do you have any idea as to what may be going on? It’s interfering with even simple exercise (disc golf - out of breath a couple of holes in)…

@@healthyketoexperiment7964 Yes - I reviewed them when I first noticed the high heart rate when first starting Keto back in March (noticing the high heart rate when I was in bed and measuring 100+ bpm w/ my watch). None of his videos seems to match up with what I’ve experienced over the last 6 months - only high heart rate 2+ days after cutting out carbs, and back to normal when I put back in carbs. I have Dr. Berg’s electrolyte powder, which I use prior to any disc golf (walking with periodic throws). 16oz w/ electrolyte + a healthy pinch of Celtic salt before hand, and another 32oz made the same way during. It doesn’t matter. I do multiple ECGs on my watch daily and only had the 1 afib late May, but a bunch of high heart rate warnings. I track all meals and generally do 11-14g net carbs while on keto, w/ 6/18 IF
