Hello, may I ask, why have you switched your recipe from chalk powder to lime powder, as chalk is more fine than lie powder, which is more gritty?

Great video loved to see all those other works you've made i love the way you sculpt the faces so realistic but with a playfulness idk lol , but i wonder if theres a way to reduce the gluses water contents without creating a film or if they sell a thicker glue hmmm.. . . ill get back to this in the morning lol

Hii, ive been literally dreaming of making your clay, and I did. Its prone to cracking and is not very elastic. Very smooth and gets dry on the surface fast and is very crumbly. I guess it probably is the wrong kinda wood glue? Had no indication of the time to dry so yeah🥹 im gonna run around and buy other glues and hope for the best! Or could it be that I didn't dry the glue enough? Have you had any experience with just using the glue straight up, no drying? Also does this clog your drains? When you're washing out your messy utensils?

Thank you. Could plaster of paris (calcium sulphate aka gypsum ) work? Ill get back to with my results. Great tutorial 🙏
@Melitaart
@Melitaart 5 ай бұрын
No, plaster of Paris hardens if it is mixed with water, while calcium carbonate does not, it dries out as it loses moisture.🤍

I've made everything by your video... My clay was very very dry, don't know why, I followed instructions step by step, but everyrhing kept falling apart while mixing, so I added more water and got exact the same as yours but I'll see if it's gonna work well for modeling... I assume next time I'll put 300 g of powder... Thank you!

Hmm, interesting, it could be that your calcium carbonate was more absorbent than mine, products like minerals (products that aren't manufactured), tend to vary in their properties, it depends on the quarry and the soil, you know. Thanks for sharing ❤

I've store clay for periods of three months, that is the longest it has lasted before I started to notice mold, if I'm not wrong .

If you are living in Toronto, you can try pottery supply house in Oakville, they have calcium carbonate. They do shipping as well.

Thank you so much for sharing your talents. I made your clay. I found in using it it still a little gritty in my hands. What or did I do something wrong/? Also what green paint did you use to paint your sculpture? Do you use regular acrylics? Would love to hear from you. Sorry one more question. Are you using water for smoothing out clay or more oil? I was practicing on creating a face and my clay became wrinkly . Thank you so much

Sorry for repliying so late. Maybe your limestone powder is more absorbent than mine, you could consider adding more glue, but very little, or you could also try adding more oil, half a teaspoon would be more then enogh. Regarding paint, I use acrylics, and they are "very cheap", I always repeat this because I know that if you use a higher quality acrylics you will obtain a better result than me, but with a tigh budget you can get great results as well. Regarding when you see me sculpt, the only thing I use to smooth is water, I usually have a spray at hand and from time to time I spray my sculpture or cover it with a damp cloth so that it allows me to sculpt without drying out too fast.

Can we just mix everything and heat it until it reaches the desired texture?

It probably wont work quite as well that way, but "ultimate paper mache" here on youtube has some great quick recipes too. Hers may not be wuite able to hold the same detail as this clay, but if you're in a hurry, her recipes are faster ! Both seem fantastic honestly

How long do you let the clay dry before you add the teaspoon of vegetable oil?
@Melitaart
@Melitaart 4 ай бұрын
I added the teaspoon of oil right after I finished kneading. I don't wait for the clay to dry, basically once the glue has dried the rest is done in less than 40 minutes.

How long does it takes to dry completely?
@Melitaart
@Melitaart 5 ай бұрын
Sorry for repliying so late😊Well, it will depend on the project you are working on. I work with layers of clay less than 5 millimeters thick, I also try to make my projects hollow and it takes three days to dry completely.

Hello! I love your clay ideas Im just curious how you feel after using limestone calcium carbonate in your clay because usually human contact or if you inhale some of it is hazardous so Im curious if it has that reaction with your clay or not. Because Im thinking of making it. Either was smart idea how your clay is so nice and you used lipids and mineral compounds to make it. Awesome!! :)@@Melitaart

I sincerely give you a suggestion ,try to you avoid adding oill to the clay , because if you add oill to the clay ,the clay will turn yellow or even black over time.
@Melitaart
@Melitaart 9 күн бұрын
Yeah, I know that, for a long time I try to avoid it, now days I try to add as less as possible, but I can't take it off, because it gives the clay a sort of plasticity.
100😭🎉 #thankyou
