I love what you do Sean, I said to a psychologist once that I like making old things new again. Car's of course. "Let's explore that" was the response. "No, no , no" I said "Nothing to explore there, I just love doing it". Watching you is like I'm watching myself and I smile the entire time I'm viewing, like I do when I'm working on my Calais. You affirm why I need to do what you do, and why it makes me so happy. Thank you

Gotta be honest… the very first video I watched on your channel was the one when you got the Ralliart. Having worked at Mitsubishi at that time when those were being built it’s great to see you getting it back to its former glory. Keep up the great work and I will keep watching.. such a shame they never did and AWD Ralliart

16:30 The money shot!!! Your attention to detail is fantastic and doesn't devolve into a plethora of minutiae and the music is very suitable for this work. 5 stars! But those red Gauges! If you need to replace the steering rack, get one from a TL or TW . Mitsubishi improved the rack in the Ralliart and then used it in the later magnas 👍

Mate I hate to be critical as I really enjoy what you do, but the is a reason they make steering wheel pullers and by doing what you did you can inadvertently damage the column. How so, well the mechanism that provides the ability to collapse relies on an inner and out sleeve for the steering shaft, this inner and outer sleeve are held in place by an engineered resin (or welds in older cars) that is designed to break under load in and accident, hammering and pulling in the steering wheel as you did can cause this resin (or weld in older cars) to fracture or possibly break. A fracture will mean the possibility of failure in the steering when the resin breaks. The type of failure is dependent on the how the column is designed but that the minimum in the inner and outer shafts become disconnected though a brakeage of the resin holding things together, you should expect something between a bit of play to a total failure i.e. wheel spins like an arcade game with no restriction at all. While the you may get away with wrenching on the wheel and/or using a hammer on new cars, over time the connection between resin holding it all in place will age with the stress of steering the car and this can cause a degradation of the join itself, meaning the likelihood of causing damage increases with the age of the car and it is the worst kind of damage, as you cannot see until it fails. Look, the likely hood that you did any damage is still low as the Magna will have a resin rather the welds and it holds up better to damage than the welds did in the past but still it’s better to be safe than sorry and invest in a puller for the next time you do this. Mainly I am commenting on this as I don't what other's to see this and think it is ok to start wrenching and hammering on a steering wheel with abandoned as they will cause damage and possibly affect the safe operation of their car.

looks mint! the steering wheels really finishes it off, this was the same with my BA XR6 Turbo, interior was mint but the wheel (factory chucky FPV wheel) was worn and peeling and it brought the whole interior down, after the re-trim the whole interior looked mint, the red wheel will really finish this off, but the silver still looks awesome!

When I changed the steering wheel on my AUXR8 many years ago I was fortunate enough to have a neighbour who loaned me a puller to get the old wheel off... made a world of difference. Other fun part with the AU was that you needed a special five point torx bit to remove the air bag. Luckily I was able to borrow one of those as well! I'm loving this build. One thing I'll recommend when it comes to airbags though: always put them facing up when you remove them from a car. Tht way, in the extremely unlikely event they go off, the bag will inflate harmlessly (if alarmingly) up into the air. If they're put face down and they go off it'll launch itself, and whatever happens to be on top of it, into the stratosphere. Also: best way to remove steering wheel if you don't have a steering wheel puller is a combination of the pulling you were doing and banging around the edges of it with your hands like you're playing an aggressive set of bongo drums. It rocks it just enough from side to side that it loosens off its seat and makes pulling it off so much easier.
