I feel like the monsters being explicitly supernatural in this game opens up some really nice design spaces that Monster Hunter can't explicitly explore because they make a token effort to root their monsters' powers in explicable natural phenomena or biology.

Something I definitely love about Wild Hearts is the respect the hunters have for the kemono. Makes me wish that Rise’s voice lines were more like this instead of telling the monsters that they’re gonna rip them a new one.

There is a Quest where we have to hunt a Nargacuga because some guy wants to make shoes out of it. Or another Quest where we have to kill three Monsters simply because they are to loud. Respect is a word the Guild in Monster Hunter doesn't know.^^

Maybe the Kemonos in Wild Hearts are considered to be gods by the people, while the monsters in Monster Hunter are basically animals to be hunted for sport.

Considering other things about Tanuki involving sheer SIZE it might make sense. Also a reference to Gaara and Shukaku from Naruto? Tanuki with sand manipulation?

Gotta say that my favorite bit was unlocking the launcher and just getting flung across the zone. Also Gritdog might be more raccoon dog, aka Tanuki, rather than prairie dog, but it could be both.

The Grit Dog is suppose to be a Raccoon Dog aka Tanuki, thus the reason for the belly drum attack it has.

That mountain doesn't have deviljho's chin, it has Zorah Magdaros' chin. It's literally a walking mountain that you have to setup to attack or it destroys your home that just happens to be in its path.

Only annoyance i have with the flash of inspiration...its not guaranteed even if all requirements are met from the beginning. I went through THREE Gritdogs before the game bothered giving me my elemental lantern (and yes this is AFTER I dealt with Spineglider for the Glider Karakuri)

@@ericbrig the issue is I solo hunt myself as a way to push myself to be better instead of using the revival of online to brute force things. This includes my hunts of Kemono around my current story progression. Heck my Dreadclaw hunts took several full hunts to bother with giving me the fireworks flash of insight

8:15 I'm going to be honest: at a glance I didn't see the rock monkey but instead I thought I saw Shukaku from the naruto series (I got bored and recently binge watched most of the series until the availability of naruto shippuden became too much of a pain). does anyone see that in the features? I really love that the WILD HEARTS hunters respect Kemono's, you can really feel that the hunters and takes their job seriously, unlike in Rise Hunters who trash talks and disrespect the MONSTERS their hunting, it makes me root for the MONSTERS instead, seeing the people in Kamura village just laughing at the rampage event makes them all look insane.

@@MatthewTheEmperor no i was agreeing with you. My point is that the situation is different in MH than Wild hearts. Overly aggressive monsters attack Caravans on sight and elder dragons destroying villages in a instant. In that situation why would I respect the monsters?
