Okay, this is the absolute TRIUMPH of this game. I mentioned earlier how Wild Hearts had way more latitude to do monster designs because of the explicit supernatural elements, but the Celestial Dragon takes full advantage of that fact. It's so beautifully naturalistic in its first few stages despite its seasonal powers, and then it absolutely earns its "Celestial" moniker in its final stage. I can't get over this.

The fact that this thing just casually changes the seasons in its area is just so badass. Imagine if something like alatreon could do that as well. It would make the fight so much better

Alatreon very much changes the environment around it in its fight. It just doesnt go through all seasons cuz... why would it.

Dont all of the ice kemono do that though? I mean yeah the dragons is more intense and cooler but the ice monsters all (to my knowledge) change the season to winter of wherever they are

For those confused the story pretty much says that the dragon/man was supposed to die and reincarnate at some point but didn't (most likly from just not wanting to) so used the butterflys to take celestial thread from others and give it to itself to put off death. How divine is actually was who knows but might have been something between.

The fact that the final boss was both a dragon and a snake simultaneously is some very satisfying payoff for all the bits you did throughout the playthrough.

Between Wild Hearts and Monster Hunter's final bosses, you gotta appreciate its parallels with Fatalis. Both evoke a cultural image of a simplistic classical dragon, one serpent divine and the other infernal, but whilst Fatalis is intensely dedicated to a single element and is associated with irreperable destruction, the Celestial Dragon utilisies a wide array of elemental powers and emphasizes the cycle of life through its alterations of weather/seasons. Ironic to think then that the Celestial Dragon is the more insidious of the two, deliberately culling man and kemono alike to harvest an uproar of souls, whereas Fatalis contented itself with simply seizing and defending territory.

Indeed. Fatalis, if you take the lore of MH into account, still holds a grudge against humanity for the whole Ancient Dragon War stuff, which is kind of justified when you look into how far the ancient humans went to hunt and dominate monsters in nature. The Celestial Dragon's just a dick for no reason. And AGAIN, it's ironic as you said, because Eastern dragons are usually depicted as divine, elemental, and for the most part, rational beings, while western dragons are the ones that are unthinking beasts of destruction. With the Final bosses of Wild Hearts and Monster hunter, it seems that the tropes have flipped

I think the celestial dragon was so mad because of the war thas going on between the Humans. They Forced Kemono to leave there natural habit and i think they killed a lot of them too in the Process. He was Mad because he Protects the Cycle of Life and for him maybe the Humans were like a Pest that destroys it, so he used the Rain as Befor to reset the Cycle and bring the balance back. Thats why in the End Uses a Human Like form( Celestial Being to test the Humas if they can overcome themselfe to restor the Balance of nature and prove that not all humans are bad and they can life with natur rather against it. And Sorry for my bad English its not my main language.

Literally just defeated the dragon and then afterwards I had to defeat the True FINAL BOSS!! Celestial Dragon is definitely not TECHNICALLY difficult to fight, but yeah Limited resources is an issue.

Not sure how, but the first time I fought the dragon I killed it before it went into winter phase. I was using bow volley + box jump attacks and it just kept falling over. I've never been able to repeat it though.

clicking both forward and reverse button at the same time(you need to let go the reverse as soon as u see the a blue light flashing) on dragon roller will speed up your rolling and aim precisely on where you're going to~ try it guys it's funn~

I would consider Volitive be the Master Rank of this game, but the only unique items is the Keystones for the Deeply Volitive hunts and orbs for the layer armors.

It’s really good. Josh was just using wrong the whole play through. You’re supposed to attack while charging to build the gauge faster. Incorporating basic karakuri into your attacks with nodachi while charging is a game changer. I’d recommend watching a speed run to see it shine

That dragon was very difficult to solo with katana the 1st time. I also feel like the final area is poorly optimized. There are no rocks or trees to replenish your Karakuri if you run out and you can't craft thread shrines, and the single tree you can use to replenish your healing has a very long cooldown.

I gotta admit in terms of Visuals and thematic direction this one beats Iceborn Fatalis by a mile. The run through the 4 Seasons while also representing Birth and Death with its 2 other forms is just goddamn amazing. 10/10 boss

I have a theory that the celestial being is what was making your hunter in pain with the seed, I believe the seed had like a dark aura with it corruption if you will and fighting the celestial being cured you and are there healthy again. Like this comment if you agree
