can you compare this to the AGV k5s I had that helmet and i crashed but i have been seeing a lot of people online selling that K6 i ride a Hayabusa i need that stabilization at high speeds i had a scorpion exo r710 and scorpion exo r2000 and the exo 710 was very unstable at about 130mph and the r2000 was amazing but i cant find that helmet anymore. I layed down my bussa and i had on the Agv k5S on I didn't feel anything I slide 15 feet until i flipped up over the curb but what happen was that the shield to the AGV K5s flew off as soon as i hit the ground. I loved the protection of the helmet because i didn't even feel it when i hit the ground at over 35 mph but i didn't like that shield coming off. it was night time and all i can think about was if i ran off the road into a marsh or maybe some trees would i still have my eyes. help me out is theK6 good for high speed riding

Wind noise is probably what makes you feel most fatigued on long rides but I wouldn't get overly worried about the helmets noise factor, as a good set of ear plugs is the most underrated riding equipment I can think of.

I would say it is the only option to use ear-plugs. All helmets have to much wind noise to ride with out. Maybe if you drop most of the safety, and get a plastic helmet, you can make it with out.

There is a flaw in the K6 that I haven't noticed mentioned by anyone. If you ride with the pinlock visor the top 1/4 to 1/2 inch of the pinlock WILL get scratched on the inside. The added thickness of the dual layer pinlock means the inside layer of plastic touches the gasket for more of the visors motion. This results in scratches on the inside of the pinlock insert from any trace amounts of dust/dirt on the gasket (accumulated while riding visor up). This happened to a friend of mine and we couldn't figure it out, then a few months later I noticed it on mine. Only way to avoid this is never open and close your visor while the pinlock is in or don't use the pinlock. As a summer helmet without the pinlock it's still a fantastic helmet

I'd stress fitment over what's best. AGV, Arai, Icon, and Shark helmets don't fit my head shape but Bell, HJC, and Shoei do. Or I'm just part of the unlucky 20% that can't wear every helmet brand.

The nice thing about the market right now is that there are very similar options at each price point for different head shapes. I’d love to see a “how each helmet fits at $XXX”. The Shoei RF1400 and AGV K6 are both excellent at similar price points. But fit differences are crucial. The K6 doesn’t fit me, the RF1400 is like a second skull.
@pastorfred3460
@pastorfred3460 2 жыл бұрын
If you are a LONG oval like me, none of these are options...the Arai Signet Q or the newer Signet X are my only options in premium helmets and for budget, the Icon Airflite is nice too. I'm a large in both. But with the Airflite, I install a 2X helmet liner and XL cheek pads to make it work but with those changes, it is very comfortable and fits well. All the Airflite helmet liners and cheek pads are interchangeable for all shell sizes. The standard way to measure without taking into consideration head shape will leave you frustrated...just a word of advice for new riders. Thanks Revzilla for keeping us supplied and informed!!!!!

I have the AGV K6, and it is a great helmet. The only downside it has is that it doesn't really flow air at all. In the fall/winter it's an amazing helmet, I don't even need a balaclava to keep my head warm. But in the Summer there is no airflow. You can crack the visor and lock it which is nice, but then the air kind of flows right up my nose and gets fatiguing after a while. I've added an Arai Defiant X to my collection to serve as a summer helmet. The two together make a formidable 4 season line up. I would recommend the AGV K6 though, it's an amazing helmet for the price. For the next iteration of the K6 I'd like to see AGV work on the ventilation, other than that the helmet is almost perfect.

One question, when you did your wind testing did you included moving your head round at speed. I had to try several helmet until I found the Arai Quantum X. I got the Sedici Strada II Primo and man, its my favorite helmet ever. I've gone through 7 helmets in the past 10 years and it fits me so perfectly, never fogs up and fit comfortably for such a low price. I tend to ride all 4 season and its been through 20F degree weather to 105F scorching hot weather, and a downpour during my 300 mile trip to Lake George, NY. Only thing I hate about it though is wind noise, its not really the loudest helmet I have, but its noticablly annoying on my long trips, I ride a naked bike so the wind is really hitting my face. I found out that the noise is coming in from under the neck collar. If I wear a thick collar or a balaclava, the noise is gone. I love that its also Snell rated so I can use it for my autox and road course tracks in my car, which is the main reason why I bought this helmet, its dual use. My last duel use helmet was my Bell Vortex and Bell Star

Looking back at my first helmet purchase which was a fly racing full face. I wish I would have just saved my money and put it towards a shoei. After riding with my first helmet for about 6 months, I started to understand that wind noise and weight will wear you out. I got a shoei rf-sr and it was a huge step in the right direction. I bought the AGV Pista GP RR Futuro Forgiato and the Icon Airflite Space Force from Revzilla in April of this year. The Icon is subpar. I wore it a few times and will probably never wear it again. I'll give it to a buddy soon I guess. The AGV is incredible. It's actuality unbelievable how nice that helmet is. I'm not that impressed with the weight, probably because I wear an XL, but it's extremely comfortable to wear for long periods, feels safe, and looks stunning. The visor scratches easily compared to other tinted visors I've had on other helmets. Wind nose hasn't been tested because I wear earplugs. Visibility is great. The small things are impressive too, such as the Titanium Double D retention system and adjustable lining. The customer service at Revzilla is a reason I'll keep doing business with them.

I bought a drag racing helmet a couple of years ago from HJC and was impressed with quality and comfort. I recently bought HJC's Alpha 11 Pro helmet for my (new) motorcycle and it does NOT disappoint! Plenty of airflow, super light and comfortable, great visibility and an awesome graphic to get drivers' attention.

I like the K6 but unfortunately it doesnt have an inner tinted flip down visor. Modular helmets concern me because the face relies on 2 pivot pins to take a front on impact. Not so sure they would survive too well.
@patrickmchugh8039
@patrickmchugh8039 2 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind that if you are concerned with front on impacts - that adding a drop down sunvisor adds a real compromise to the forehead for impacts. Since that gap of space for the sunvisor is larger and not filled w/ EPS, it causes a large crush zone for the helmet's shell. That is one of the main reasons that you can't have a SNELL helmet w/ a drop down sun visor.

My liner start falling apart 3 months in and now I need to replace it and I can't. Called HJC in Anaheim and they do not have any and they told me to go to cycle gear. I have two big issues with the xd4. One it has an odd shape that I cannot find a size that fits my head, either its floppy and loose at 2xl, or painful on my forehead at xl. That however is a me issue. The big problem with the XD4 is adventure touring is a really bad place for Arai and their puritanical stance on safety. They dont like drop down sun shields because they create a structural weakness (competitors still get ECE certs with these, so its not impossible they are just unwilling. Likewise they have the attitude that comm units are unsafe luxuries and make no steps to accommodate them. Arai makes excellent helmets, their engineering and construction are top notch. The XD4 just seems to miss the point.
