i got my sheraton today. the nicest looking, sounding, and playing guitar i’ve ever played, and i’ve run the gamut from strats and teles to les pauls to rickenbackers. it’s just an incredible instrument

Hi Trystero, I'm really interested in the Sheraton, but none of the shops have any in stock, you have to order it. So....I see that you have played /owned Starts and Les Pauls, and I was hoping you could shed some light on the neck shape of the Anniversary Sheraton. In the video he commented that it was thin. Would you describe it as a Gibson fat /rounded 50's or a 60's slim taper? I have the Joe Bonamassa 335 and really like the neck, which feels to me like an "in between" a Gibson fat/slim. I have owned a Sheraton II before and found the neck to be really wide and thin front to back (comparing to a LP Standard). I just don't like ultra skinny/narrow necks.

got its type, it's too heavy. The plastic shell they cover them in, and the 5-ply less-dried wood, makes them heavier than a good one.

I bought a Wilshire, made in Indonesia on Ebay. Quite like the one I had in 1969. I changed the volume pots to audio taper and rewired the circuit so in dual pickup mode you could turn one pickup down all the way or change the tone without affecting the other. In 1969 I had to trade guitars to try other ones. That year I had a short horn Danelectro 1 pickup, a Wilshire with 2 Melody Maker pickups, a Wilshire with mini humbuckers a Jazzmaster and settled on a Stratocaster. I barely paid rent but I was a playing fool.

Love the channel but Epiphone does currently make a Wilshire, Crestwood, and Coronet ranging from $449 to $599...might be another option for less money

You are 100% correct. There are definite differences in the body shape, headstock, and features obviously but yes, I missed that. With the Gibson USA pickups and hardshell case, plus the limited edition factor I think $899/$999 is still a great value for the 150th versions.

The ZEPHYR is my favorite but, I will probably buy the Crestwood Custom...it sounds the best to me and is more reasonably priced ...too bad the Sheraton is so heavy. Thank you for the awesome demo and review guys !

Terrific demo! - all the different tones on display, and your playing/improv is great. I have the Wilshire, it's everything you say it is. I love the thin neck and total fret access on these. I want the Crestwood next, to make a perfect pair. Truth told, I want them all! 😁

I bought the Sheraton yesterday after watching reviews and playing it for an hour in the store. The price was really hard to swallow but it is an Epiphone original model, not an Epiphone version of a Gibson, and the feel, sound/tone and build quality is absolutely stellar. I have a Gibson 335 (2011) and a Gibson Trini Lopez (2022 release by the Custom Shop), and without question this Epiphone sits right up there equally with them in terms of tone, build quality and playability. Far above Epiphones other similar "standard" offerings (which are very good btw). IME Gibson QC has been below Epiphones for a while now.

I have several gibsons and I picked up the 58 Korina explorer and Jerry Cantrell Wino Epiphone models. These are amazing guitars that I have put more time on then my actual Gibsons. Epiphone is putting out fire.

I love the Epiphones made within the last five years. I have several plus two from 1966. I’m planning on buying a Newport too. I love the Crestwood. I have the 150th anniversary in Coral plus I have a white one with the bikini logo. Both play well but I give the coral one the edge. I doubt blindfolded I could easily tell them apart. I had a Coronet that I gifted to my nephew. Awesome guitar. The guitar that started my love affair with the recent PacRim guitars is my casino coupe. Just he right size and sound. I did change most of the parts but that was to make it moe unique and my personality stamp. From 1966 I have a casino and Howard Roberts. All guitars are well set up and without issues.

Great review JOHN! 👍 Partial to the Crestwood Custom. I have and play an original 1969 in Polaris White that was bought for me as a kid. It has a rosewood fretboard. There is no coil spring in the original Trem-tone, and a third strap button is on the back of the body near the neck. The guitar, case, and a Gretsch 6150 amp were $350.00 new. Would like to grab the new Crestwood Custom as a new meets old, but a grand seems like a lot! Like that it has Gibson mini pups and a hard shell case. Gotta think this one out!😉

I love mini humbuckers there is definitely a guitar in my future with them. Any thoughts on the Riviera with minis and the frequensator compares to this new Sheraton?
@patrickschrepel7471
@patrickschrepel7471 11 ай бұрын
I played a Riviera at the Gibson Garage in Nashville and wasn’t impressed with the way it felt in the left hand. I also had the black Emily Wolfe and had a similar issue. I bought the new Sheraton with the Frequensator and the neck feels as good as any Gibson I’ve owned/played. It is now the only electric I still own. I don’t know if this anniversary red Sheraton has the same neck on it. It sounds like it might be thinner, which I think would be a mistake.

I have enough variety in guitars that, while visually appealing they don't cover any ground my current stable can already do. For me the one that I'd spring for even though my D'Angellico DC fills the bill sonically, would be an Epiphone model of the Dave Grohl/Trini Lopez 335. The White Wolf model is drop dead gorgeous and a real possibility if they don't. But as an unabashed DG fanboy I want the model to have that DG as part of the model nomenclature

This guy is talking nonsense. I’ve tried all these guitars & without doubt the Sheraton beats all of them with superior sound quality & you are getting Gibson deluxe pick up’s. The guitar sounds awesome. With the quality of a Gibson made guitar, when Gibson really cared about quality control. And what’s this Lame-o complaining about the weight? Are all of you desk monkey pencil pushers these days, not able to handle 9lb weights or more. For crying out loud, the heavier the better & higher quality guitar. I would have bought that Sheraton then & there, but it was already reserved & sold & now hard to get.
