But I still wish I could hear him just a tad better. UPDATE: I heard his English has now improved. I understand him a lot better and he is still funny af.

my guess is convenience and to avoid confusion. saying "ump" sounds too much like someone going "ummm..." while saying "ohp" is pretty distinct. also, saying "ay-double you-pee" is more of a mouthful than saying "you-am-pee". At least, that's what I think is the reason.
