The Driftless area is located in northeast Iowa, southeast Minnesota, southwest Wisconsin and northwest Illinois. This area was missed by the glaciers as they receded some 20,000 years ago and now provide miles upon miles of cold, clear trout water that offers a wide variety of waters to fish. The wildlife is simply outstanding and a big part of why I fish this area. The brown trout are naturally reproducing and have been for over a decade. Brook and rainbow trout are stocked in several streams and add variety to the fishing. What I think you will like the best is that array of water...some has to be very carefully fished while other water is much more wide open. If you haven't visited the area then please put this on your list of to-do's as it is one of the most spectacular spots to fish in the midwest. In this video I am able to land a number of nice trout...and in the two days landed about 50 trout in total...mostly on streamers and a few nymphs. For info and help, contact Brian Maliase at the Decorah trout rearing facility... Decorah is also a great little town with anything you would ever need.
