Best of the Worst is BACK! After an embarrassing Halloween booze fest, we decide to stack up the old black spine tapes and play a game of Junka™! Heaven and help us!! This time legendary Hollyweird celebrity Milwaukee Culkin appears from behind a wooden thing. When he's in town he's known as Milwaukee Milwaukee Culkin Culkin (legal name change). What’s Junka™ you ask? Well I’m glad you didn’t. Junka™ is a game where we stack up tapes in rows of 7 or 8 or something like that. I think 7. I don't care. And then pull tapes out, replacing them on the top of the pile with a spray painted tape. We used to use Nukie tapes until we put them all in a wood chipper. Now they is dust. Rich “The Barf Bag” Evans joins Mr. McCulkin in a pointless battle of tapes, wits, and skills that's certain to be more difficult than Celebrity Jeopardy! While the last winner was Tim, he wasn’t around so we had Rich Evans battle Milwaukee. Milwaukee came prepared though. Bolstered by a healthy dose of Ego and anti-shaky hand medication, Milwaukee plans to defeat Rich “The Diaper Clown” Evans in this battle, thus forcing the gang (including himself) to watch ALL the tapes he was pulled out of them Junka™ pile. This is, of course, after the pile has fallen and a winner is declared. This game doesn't make any cents! A new feature will also be added to Junka™ it’s called Poach-a-Pick™. This exciting new feature allows the winner to choose tapes from the loser’s pile for added misery! Ow! My Bladder! This spine-tingling episode also stars Jay “The Creep” Bauman and Mike “Lardo Boozer” Stoklasa as he eyes up the prize of the day: more beer to soak into his brain during the screening and subsequent discussions. You see, Mike once had a sweatshirt that said “I’m just here for the boos” with a photograph of a ghost on it. While a delicious pun indeed, this shirt harbored the terrible truth that Mike is truly just there “for the booze”. Mike films with the camera as does Jay and then makes the jokes, but really he’s there to consume so much alcohol he has to be carried up the stairs to his bedroom by several fire fighters. Jay also gets carried up to his bedroom by several fire fighters, but that’s for a totally different reason. Can Rich “The Adult Toddler” Evans defeat Mack is Back with the Hacks Culkin? I mean Milwaukee Culkin? I don’t know. You tell me when the first segment of the video is over. I know the answer already. I put my bets on Rich "The Man-Ape" Evans. While he appears oafish and dumb, this kid does have skills with his hands, cock, and sharp mental focus. MaClunken Culkin has that star-power though, which may intimidate a mentally decrepit witless circus freak like Evans (46-year old toddler). Now, the thing with Junka™ is that while the pile is large and we do watch EVERY tape we doesn't always place them on the table to talk about. Only the best are selected. This is the danger with watching a bunch of rando tapes. However, these boys are professionals and can usually talk about anything. They power through their injuries. Rich's back hurts him 24/7. Jay just wants to be home watching weirdo movies with his cats. Mike drinks to forget and Magulkin Milwagon McCulkin counts the seconds down to when he can return to the warmth of Los Angeles where he doesn't have to smell the rotting stench of failure bellowing from three mid-west losers.

I learned via a comment a few years ago responding to my explanation of how absence of evidence can be evidence of absence and using a Rhino in my bathroom as the example, I open the door, see the room intact and lacking any pachyderms, and it is evidence that there is not a rhinoceros. It turns out that Pachyderm is now obsolete and its former members now occupy several distinct clades. Ironically, I had intended to use an elephant as the example, switched to rhino, and kept the word Pachyderm from when it was an elephant. I was still correctly incorrect as Rhinos were also formerly Pachys but I got there by accident.

The mammoth cave one is hilarious because, as a kentucky resident, we’re absolutely terrible at sales as a regional culture. We’re too honest, pessimistic, and aren’t thirsty for every dollar we can squeeze out of someone. For the average person selling something on the side here, we will absolutely tell you exactly what’s wrong with it, complain a little bit about the problems we had, and point out whatever imagined difficulties the customer might have. I’ve definitely talked exactly like the guy in the video for some ceiling fans, furniture, and exercise equipment. “oh yeah this one’s hard to get up the stairs” instead of “sturdy, solid construction!”.

That mastodon video is absolutely what happens when a governmental or industry promotional grant is awarded to whomever writes the best application for it. It's very easy to imagine the chain of folks in office cubicles approving descriptions and checking in with progress meetings and no one has any real clue what they're doing or any soul to anything being done, but checkboxes are being checked and feedback is being incorporated and then at the end of the project you end up with something having been made and that is considered a success.

In the mastodon animation there was a blond woman in a bikini at the beginning - the girl and the mouse were separate characters. I worked as an animator at a studio around 1990 and we made a video for some tourism promotion group from NYC that featured anthropomorphic squirrels...and a talking statue of liberty. The main squirrel's name was Yorky - we were given written descriptions of the characters, their voicework and the script; we designed everything and animated it. Like Mastodons, it was about as well written and self aware as might be expected of any Rotary Club or Masonic Lodge, although we joked that it was a tax dodge for the mob, there's no way they would be that out of touch - Yorky wore a straw hat unironically. I hope this is not available, anywhere. But yeah, contrary to common sense you can pay an exorbitant amount of money to have an animated short made for no goddamned good reason. Things just happen.

Honestly for all the Rich-bullying they do (especially Mike), I do find it weirdly heartwarming that Mike decided in editing to give Rich that 2 minutes of victory that he honestly fully earned. A friend giving his friend the little recognition he could afford before going back into the running gag, acknowledging his near victory over a no-win scenario. Which, putting it that way (originally unintentionally when I first considered it) it feels poetic that the two long-time Star Trek fans would show their friendship through one almost legitimately overcoming his real life Kobayashi Maru.

I don't think I'll ever learn how to build a haunted house at this rate
@0neDoomedSpaceMarine
@0neDoomedSpaceMarine 7 ай бұрын
*Step 1:* Build house. If it has two floors and has some big windows with an overlook to the surrounding neighborhood, that's really good (it'll get kid's imaginations going), but it's not mandatory. *Step 2:* Let it just sit and get ravaged by weather and wind for 10-20 years with minimal maintenance. Don't let it get TOO damaged, you don't want it burning down or collapsing, or you'll have to start over, and if it gets infested with pests like rats, the county will want to tear it down, so you gotta prevent that as well. Otherwise, you want it to get really shabby looking, peeled paint, greying wood, unmowed lawn, etc. Leaving an old run down car to just rust in the driveway also helps. *Step 3:* If a murder just happens to happen in the house, that may or may not induce an actual haunting (haven't tried), but either way it will create a spooky perception of the house, which is what you want. Legally risky, so spreading rumors about murder or evil cult rituals is much less likely to land you in trouble. If crackheads and drunks start squatting in your haunted house, it will create a _completely_ different perception of it, so you need to chase them out. Optionally just dressing as a sheet ghost can work, but crackheads are skittish and unpredictable, so threatening them with a gun (or any kind of half decent weapon, like a hatchet or crowbar) is usually more reliable. Home Owner's Associations _really_ hate me.

My favourite thing about Rich is when he makes a joke he really likes he laughs while trying to repeat it. It always makes me happy

He'll quietly repeat about 70% of the joke while laughing to himself. Insanely powerful old man behavior.

The Mammoth Cave is perfect. It starts with a serious but energetic tone and immeaditly cuts to a bored and sad man discribing the most unimpressive set of things, which itself already is funny, but then escalates to the serious but energetic voice now describing nonsensical things in the worst way possible for a sale, making you ask yourself "is this really happening or I just finally realize I'm crazy?". Perfect timing. I love you Mammoth Cave VHS. I'm bringing Mammoth Cave home.

why was the tape even produced? I suspect it was a demo reel for a cameraman or editor, which only makes me wonder what he rejected
