I agree with your assessment. I landed on the griffin plan A for guns I'm not worried about being fast on and off. I like their muzzle device options-and they look better than any others to me. I use the YHM kurz for cans that I need to come on and off fast.

On an AR platform if your upper/barrel comes with the old standard A2 flash hider, you can subtract a couple ounces from that overall total since you're removing it.

Idk if anyone else has said this but there are a few different companies making muzzle devices to fit the plan b. Q says if you use the different muzzle devices with their stuff you void the warranty. If you don’t care about that or are just using a plan b mount you have multiple options for brakes or flash hiders. I have a few from a company called rearden mfg and liberty precision.

The YHM won’t fit under a hand guard sounds like (have to be able to get to the lock). Not that you should put a hand guard past the muzzle. But people do.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the keymo does extend the length of your suppressor, however if you are using a keymo muzzle device you can pin and weld to a 13.9 and be legal length, and then because the suppressor mounts further back you’d actually have a shorter overall length than a 14.5 pin and weld with a different system.
@TheOVprodigy3 ай бұрын
I have a 13.9 pin and welded with a keymo, looking to get my first suppressor soon and I’m pretty much just stuck with the keymo adapter so I’m looking for the positive. I don’t love the price or weight but I’m hoping the length is negated by the barrel it’s on

Funny I have silencerco ASR. Considering everything else. Even though it's not much different or better. Thinking about switching all to yhm. Because of weight cost simplicity.

@screes6203 жыл бұрын
So if i need a flash hider that is at least 1.5" long to pin/weld to the end of a 14.5" barrel, then would the standard YHM Phantom QD mount be the best? It seems like it would weigh less than the deadair keymo.
@PracticallySquared13 жыл бұрын
If it meets your lengths then sure. 👍
@freedomlover4253 жыл бұрын
Check out the Griffin Hammer Comp & Plan A, the new Dead Air Xeno, there are others that should meet the length and be lighter than the Keymo.
@grif54472 жыл бұрын
The YHM mounts have a mechanical part on them that can wear out and requires removal of the mount from the barrel to service. If you don't plan on removing the suppressor a lot it might hold up but if it does break it will be an expensive repair that might get even more expensive halfway through just to replace a spring.
@LinkSF13 жыл бұрын
How do I know if the YHM mount is compatible with, say, the thunderbeast ultra 7? I know the threads have to match, but can I assume that the 3 port muzzle break will just fit inside the can?
@PracticallySquared13 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure the ultra 7 is either a direct thread or their QD. I'm not sure that it has the proper threads for the "omega style" mounts like the yhm

I wonder how much difference kurz makes in terms of sound comparing to direct thread or yhm stock mount.

I haven't formally tested it but I can tell you it's negligible enough that my ear can't tell a link of difference. Probably 1-2 db

If you have to find the teardrop first.. is that really "QD"? What about in the dark? I don't really see much difference in those 2 systems compared to the taper mount systems, besides the fact that the locking system on those might be slightly more secure but they are all pretty securely fastened anyways no matter how you look at it..
@PracticallySquared12 жыл бұрын
You can find the teardrop without looking, however there's options so choose what you like. Enjoy man!

Great videos man. I’ve been debating on swapping out all of my Griffin Tapers and Plan A’s. I really like the Xeno and Plan B / Rearden. I did get Keymo to try out but it’s way too heavy and long. Great adapter but I enjoy short and light cans. Keymo isn’t great at that. Decisions decisions.

@@PracticallySquared1 I watched it. Great review. Looks like an awesome system. I do wish the wrench flat area on the adapter was half as wide. I get why they did it but I love how short Plan A and B’s are.
@PracticallySquared12 жыл бұрын
@@jjsemperfi thanks for the praise! Glad you enjoy. I could 100% understand the size. The only thing I'll say is it not only to be able to get a Cresent wrench on there but also big enough to allow larger muzzle devices. In cans like the nomad the blast baffles kinda close so they needed to make it longer to allow use of normal sized muzzle devices. The mini flash hiders other company's offer tend to not really work. I know the guys at DA are flash hider fans so I'm sure that played a part. The slight length looks like more of a deal then it really is. On the gun it doesent make much of a difference.
@PracticallySquared12 жыл бұрын
@@jjsemperfi I really should update this video as I've kinda came to more conclusions on these. Plan a I do not like at all. Some people claim success eith it but I've used a few and unfortunately had nothing but stuck muzzle devices. As far as plan b it works but I HATE spanner wrenches. I wish they would've put flats on there. Lastly comparing it to xeno a little, I loooove the left hand xeno thread. I have had several mount unscrew from the can when taking them out. For 1.375x24 cans the left hand thread on is about the best thing I've seen and I'm borderline at the point where it's all I'd honestly recommend. Sorry for the book lol

The dead air is a lot like the maad Mount everyone hated because cans would go flying down range. Let’s be real the maad Mount was fine user error sent those cans down range. Maad came before dead air. Maad is heavy though like the dead air.
@PracticallySquared12 жыл бұрын
Are you sure your not getting Madd and asr confused? Madd mount was the mount that would sieze on the muzzle device. It wasn't user error, it was a piss poor design. My best buddy has a saker with Madd and it had to go back to silemcerco twice before they upgraded him to asr for free. The mount was poorly designed and rushed to market. Fun fact Mike pappas before leaving silencerco was involved in the Madd and warned them it wasn't ready and the other higher ups decided it was.. the rest is history. The Maadd mount is the litteral worst mount ever made. Even silencerco fan boys will admit it.. keymo is pretty much polar opposite, it gets so much love.. ASR is the mount people use improperly and send cans downrange... Keymo is heavy, but doesn't have anywhere nearly the amount of problems. It's literally a taper that keys on and ratchets down. Works great, I've never heard of anybody launching a can or really having any issues... unlike asr theres no secondary collar to fiddle wity so you can install 1 handed and tuck it under a rail. Also its virtually impossible to install improperly and send downrange. That's like complete opposites. I respect your comment but couldn't disagree any more.

@PracticallySquared12 жыл бұрын
It's a phrase, takes a minute to install... I didn't actually mean 60 seconds, the point more so is that they take longer then something like a true QD like Keymo or YHM... that said I've come around a little on the taper mounts. I have a video out on xeno and it's what I've used in my nomad ever since it came out. I'm really due to redo my mount video as I have used a bunch more mounts in many situations and feel I could make a better video and explain more. Stay tuned. Thanks for the comment.
