I use a can of compressed air to blow off excess debris before I start the cleaning process. I do this turned away from my cleaning station and low to the floor so I'm keeping my cleaning station as clean as I can. After I do the wet-clean, I use a hairdryer on low to quickly dry the record on both sides and then sleeve it asap. I feel that this immediate sleeving keeps the record cleaner as it does not allow time for it to attract dust in the air. My collection is about one thousand lp's now and they are pristinely clean. Love your content.

Thanks for your videos. I've stumbled upon the same method that you have. Combining the mofi brush with paint pad. I use paint pad with the handle so i can use it angled. Also, i ALWAYS Do a dry vac before wetting. I figure why wet all that crap into the grooves? I do a quick dry vac on both sides, then the wet cleaning. Happy listening!

I also use a paint edger pad with the Vinyl Vac solution, vac off, then 2 distilled water rinses.

I bet that Paint Edging Pad would fit perfectly on a 1/4 sheet Sanding Block available at the same hardware store in the sandpaper isle.

Absolutely brilliant. I’m going to save my money and use paint pads. Thank you so much.

They really have worked way better and don't go mushy after a few records! Thanks for watching!

Great video Ben. I also use a SHUR-LINE HANDI PAINTER and it does the job! My solution is the LASERMEDIA VNC-8 or sometimes the AUDIO TECHNICA AT634a. I do not vacuum dry however. I use a GIOTTOS ROCKET AIR BLASTER (takes a lot longer than a vacuum but I'm poor). Please give me your home brew cleaning solution ingredients and quantities of each part. Both of my cleaning solutions are excellent but very expensive. Thanks.

I think if you used a microscope after each cleaning, you could really see how well each one works. Great videos

I use a Record Doctor VI for cleaning but I do have a couple albums I might try the paint pads on as I still get some pops and clicks. If that doesn’t work it’s probably just the record. I use a sticky roller for general dust now and if I feel dirt or dust has gotten down in the grooves then it’s back to the Record Doctor. I only dust the acrylic platter with a carbon fiber brush.

Try the paint pads but also look at the detergent you are using… also static wise I squirt a trace amount of gruv glide in my rinse water and it seems to work well… if I might ask what kind of cart are you using?
@quikspecv4d
@quikspecv4d 2 жыл бұрын
@@BensAudioCave I’ll check out the gruv guide. I’m using a 2M Bronze cartridge. I’m currently using a Furutech DeStat III to control static currently.

@@quikspecv4d I own a 2M Black and several other carts… I will tell you my 2M finds surface noise like none other… even in pristine pressings… my Shure M97xe with vivid line is a little better… I don’t know if it’s the shape or what by my AT PTG33II microline is the best cart for surface noise I own… so depending on your table; you might want to try a microline when replacement time comes… if you have a lightweight arm the OC9’s come in around a compliance of 25 which is similar to the 22 of your Bronze… the 33 series is around 18… the moving magnets are all 18ish BUT the 740ml is a bit heavier which can make compliance work better… kind of did a whole video about that dance on this channel 😀

I have a VPI machine but I don't lije repcing the felt pads so always pre clean.Yer with Dishwasher,,the MoFi etc.I really liked my Allsop Orbtrac they stopped making it and the cost of the pads was a drag..But this as long as the fibers don't scratch is a great idea.What isn't is to use a Magic Eraser!!!!Some numb-sculls report great results but don't realize in addition to polishing down the scratched they are removing the groves!!!*I do use the Magic Eraser along with Ono gel to clean my stylus.BTW I have buddy who has a $4K automated Ultrasonic but says it works with the VOI machine which he kept.So Ultrasonic and Vacuums according to him provide different benefits.This was good I'll check to see if you have hoe brew recopies for cleaning liquids

When using a stiff pad like that you are basically burnishing the peaks. The eventual outcome is records looking dull. It happens over time. You can clean a record with pretty much anything. The record will always look good the first few times. Wear will show over time. Just like with ultra sonic cleaners. You don't see the damage it's doing till it's to late.

You are reaching and if you are cleaning them you are doing them here and there. No proof to your statement. Using a ultrasonic cleaner damages record too.

Well I could possibly do a before and after but lets just say they get the job done well... The biggest tell tale sign is the stylus cleanliness afterward and these get in there better than any brush I have used
