You are very passionate about your vinyl Ben. In 1975 I had a Pioneer Stereo System that I loved. I stored all of my albums in my parents basement and retrieved them after 40 years. Your videos have been a great help to me. You have convinced me to buy a shop vac for the drying process. I've been blow drying up to this point but I'm not sure that all of the impurities are being lifted out of the grooves. Congrats and keep posting!

Excellent! Not even the brush is able to break the water's surface tension. I use Kodak Photo-Flo 200, it works great.

Actually I have another short video that shows my homebrew fluid with photoflo surficant vs the tergikleen and the tergikleen is actually still way better… might post it as a short 😀

@@BensAudioCave Hi Ben. Great video as always. I have been using a homebrew cleaning mixture for a while with great results too. A different surfactant though. I make it in 32 Oz Bottles. My Formula... 24 Oz. of Quality Distilled Water 8 Oz of 99.9 ISO Alcohol 10 Drops of Triton X-100 Surfactant. Fluid is applied with a squeeze bottle and Discwasher D4 Brush. No damage to brush or film left on records. Just nice and clean. If I get a used record that is not as clean as I like, I will run it through my Spin Clean first using 4 capfuls of my Homebrew fluid above with distilled water in the Spin Clean reservoir. That gets it in shape for putting on the turntable and giving it a once over with my system. Happy Cleaning!

@@AudioGuyBrian I have been wondering about the triton x100… might have to give it a try but I have a LOT of tergikleen… LOLz 😂

@@BensAudioCave Same with my X-100. At that many drops per quart I probably have enough to make 1,000 gallons! LOL

Great video! I'd love to see a brand-new LP (never played) cleaned with the paint pad and a before/after microscope view of the grooves. I'm almost sold on this method after reading many people that have nothing but good things to say about it!

Really enjoyed this video! I am trying to figure out how to clean records at a reasonable cost. I think you are on to something.
@BensAudioCave

Well tergikleen is a good solution and cheap… distilled water is pretty cheap… paint pads… also cheap… AT 6012 brush for rinse is cheap… gruv glide (what I use heavily diluted for staticide) is reasonable and the vinyl vac 33 surely is as well as a $19 shop vac… so for about the cost of 3 new records you could have a complete vacuum setup… I specialize in cheap LOLz 😂

I had a microscope like that. What some ppl don't know is if you move it to within just barely touching whatever the surface is, you can refocus it and get a WAY closer image.

You should adjust the settings because all you can see is the top surface of the record but nothing in the grooves

That microscope is awesome. Very unique vinyl cleaning videos you are making with it. I really need to buy some cleaning products for my records. I have none other than my cleaning wipes meant for my glasses which seemingly work well but I may be doing more damage than good? My small collection these days is only about 50 lps, 90 percent of which are represses. Gone are the days when I had an Original Mono Blue Verve label and sticker over the torso art copy of the Velvet Underground and Nico which I got for 25 bucks at Half Price Books in the 90s! I regret the day I got rid of all my records for that one record. Anyway, do you recommend and starter cleaning brush or kit?

@@BensAudioCave I'll check it out. Just started seeing your videos and they are really cool. I'm 47 yo. I've had records mostly in than off since I was really into Beatles records in the late 70s and early 80s. I was an odd kid who was fascinated with records while others were into Star Wars and other stuff. I just started buying LPS again, I have had a lot of dj vinyl since 2000 when I got into that noise, after the first stimulus check when I got a copy of Pink Floyd The Wall; subsequently the noisiest record I've ever owned! It sounded great when I first played it. Sounds like a campfire now. I even tried the Wood glue trick on disc one to no avail.

I have some older lp's and after several deep cleans, rinse and then run it in a ultrasonic cleaner i can still see alot of glass like refective stuff in grooves looking under a micrscope also still show tiny white specks deep in groove is that normal or defect in the vinyl?thanks

Hello. I'm from Poland, currently living in Germany. Thanks for the great video. I have a question. Do you use any devices to enhance the sound from old vinyl records? There are computer programs like iZotope RX7 that can remove cracks and hisses from records. Are there devices that utilize artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the sound? Regards.
