The only gripe I have with this reel is the weight, but that goes with the size of the reel kzfaq.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I brought this salmon fishing up in Oswego, NY. I coupled it with a Cabela's Whuppin Stick. I had no problem pulling in a 14lb salmon. I will probably use this for surf fishing this summer and downgrade to a 3500 series Battle II next salmon season to save my wrists. All of the operations are butter smooth and the bail is nice and thick and has a solid flip to it. Everything about this reel is sturdy and strong. The drag system held up to the salmon and was also super smooth. I did use a scale to set the drag properly before going out to the river and this worked out tremendously. A bunch of other guys on the river would hook up and snap almost immediately. Just because you have a good drag system doesn't do anything if you don't set it correctly.

Used Shimano , Penn , daiwa , st croix and so many other rods throughout 32 years of fishing. All these other companies warranties are such a hassle to get a rod replaced , the rods are only covered for a limited amount of time , and some of the fees are ridiculous. Plus most of their customer service is nightmare My favorite rod company is bull bay rods Their customer service is top notch , lifetime warranty is amazing. Plus they are based right here in Lakeland Florida Their warranty is great because you don't need proof of purchase to get your rod repaired or replaced. As long as you keep the pieces of the rod , you can get it fixed / replaced. If it's a manufacturing issue it's free. If it's an user error depending on model the fee is only $40 or $60 for a new rod.

@@ReelinTension yeah , I got tired of the bs with all these companies. Switched and no longer those issues. Ive only had 2 issues with bull bay. One was fixed in mins , the other was fixed in less then 24 hours. Both free too I have all their rods but the banshee is definitely my favorite 7'10 6-12. Have it paired with a 3000 sustain. But I just got a few tac x rods and they may take the #1 spot. But wanna use them a few more times

I've fished around 40 different spinning rods that are advertised as being inshore rods. They ranged from $75 to $400. The rod that I always come back to is the Falcon XG 7' medium action rod. The rod is a nice balance of lightweight, tough, decent backbone, good ergonomics, nice handle length and for the price, a good all around stick. My TFO and Shimano rods are lighter, but considerably more fragile and expensive if something goes wrong. I have a couple of Penn rods that are decent, but the action doesn't load up as well on casts.

Great tips for rod length, actions and powers for inshore fishing! As an experienced inshore and nearshore fisherman, I have completely moved away from buying or ordering name brand store bought rods, not that I don't think they have decent quality as I have owned and still own Shimano and Daiwa rods mainly for nearshore grouper fishing, but if you can afford it or befriend a custom rod builder like I have, going the custom rod route is so much better, I use MHX rod blanks which have a transferable lifetime warranty which you can get in many different prices, lengths, actions, and powers, and then you can get the exact guides and components you want, which all said and done for the rods I have built would cost 2 to 3 times as much trying to find something similar that a "name brand" builds which you can never find exactly the way I have custom rods built from a "name brand" rod company. I have custom rods from 6'6" for my daughter, and rods in all different lengths from 7' to 7'6" in different actions and powers for different applications for myself, similar to the applications what Captain CA talks about in this video. I'm telling you, if you can afford it go the custom rod route and get exactly what you want! Learn how

Choice of rod becomes tricky when traveling. Far fewer inshore rods are available in two-piece configurations. A standard SUV can only haul one piece rods with an overhead rack. ( Hanging them out the window isn't an option on the Interstate. ) The length and action suggestions make sense. Do I *really* need a new rod now? No ... but it doesn't hurt to be prepared for the Fall.

So I bought a Vanford C3000XG this week and tonight I ordered the Teramar XX TXESX70M going to use Trilene or Ande 10b mono to 8lb v2 superslick in moonshine to 20lb inshore seagaur leader. Did I make a pairing mistake or am I good?. Planning on throwing paddle tails, 17mr's and and spoons with this setup.

Tell me I'm wrong, anyone else keep telling non fishing people that you need a rod/reel for every lure lol out there to cover all your lures you keep in your tackle box. I just need rods and maybe reels to match for the lures I have. But have started to go back to my roots of finnesse fishing being rods with 3000 size reels for medium to medium light rods 10-15 lb braid for 1/4oz maybe 3/8oz max because that's all I used growing up and learned how to fish for large fish on that style fishing and love it. My largest rod/reel I have is a 12ft surf rod with a penn warfare with 30lb lb and 50lb leader. And everything else max is a medium heavy for throwing small to medium pin fish and that's it.

Shimano used to have a lifetime warranty on rods, but not anymore as is mentioned here. One way to help with warranty is to establish a good relationship with your local tackle store rather than buying everything online. I had two Shimano rods replaced instantly off the shelf by the owner. I’ve owned probably a dozen Shimano rods (now mostly offshore) and my overall experience has been positive. My best setup last year was a 6000 gosa on a 7’ med light trevala (multiple 30 lb kingfish and a 40 lb cobia plus gaffer dolphin). I think they offer good value for the performance you get.
@HondoTrailside
@HondoTrailside Жыл бұрын
The problem with lifetime guarantees is that you end up subsidizing the guy who is drunk and backs his trailer over his rod canon, etc... If there was something wrong with the rod, and you paid premium dollar for it you should get replacements. But whether it is fishing or some other activity, people have also learned how to abuse gear in terms of what it was designed for, and then put that cost on the rest of us.

Hey buddy, I understand you fish from a boat and your rods are generally one piece and almost all 7'5 feet fast action rods. I fish only from shore and my rods are generally fast action and range from 8 to 14 feet depending on the condition of the bank. The sizes of the reels I use are between 2000 and 4500 and for long distance casting is 8000. Yes, I agree with your ideas. I never limit my arsenal by saying that one or two pieces of equipment will do the same job for me. Nobody can say that "I am a professional angler" (you cannot become a professional in hunting or fishing, every experience teaches something and a learner is not a professional but only can be an apprentice) and nobody can say a few fishing poles are enough for fishing. I have been fishing for 50 years and I am still not a professional. Greetings from Turkiye and I wish you many trophy fishing.

I completely understand the sponsor staff relationship and have been and still am a dedicated Shimano user (reels exclusively but no longer rods). What you are privileged to that we, the end users are not is discounts or free rods when they fail, and they will fail as do all rods. Where you could help is letting Shimano know they are severely lacking in the customer service area. We pay good money for a rod that breaks as a result of damage incurred during shipping to/or at the retailer and is covered under warranty but the cost is on the customer to return the entire rod to Shimano. So not only are you covering the expense of the initial purchase but also covering shipping back to Shimano. This makes Shimano rods much less appealing and competitive with other rods. This is exactly why I moved away from G-Loomis. I apologize for the lengthy reply, but Shimano will not listen to their customers (and I am not alone) maybe they will listen to their Prostaff. Very informative video as usual.

Just like Aaron check out bull bay rods. I used Shimano, daiwa , Penn , st croix , and so on. I have been using them now 6 years now and are by far the best rods imo. The customer service from bull bay is top notch , lifetime warranty , and based right here in Lakeland Florida. If anything manufacturing wise happens to the rod they will fix or replace it for free. If something happens to your rod outside of a manufacturer defect. ( I.e. user error slam door on rod , dog eats it , stock rod into fan and so on ) depending on model it's either $40 or $60 for it to get fixed or replaced
