I feel like you made the right call. Onions sounds like the right move. It is as though Matt's found the perfect formula decades ago, and didn't have to change a thing. Plus, their Lucy looked genuinely juicier.

My FAVORITE videos of Sonny is when Calvin is in them! Most his collab "co hosts" seem uncomfortable by Sonny's dark and cynical/sarcastic humor but Calvin matches him so perfectly. I remember watching sonny and mark weins and mark seemed so out of his element lol

I didn't know these burgers were a thing, as it were. I have been making those for just over 30 years. Not in a food establishment, but at home haha. I must have seen it somewhere way back in the day and just didn't realize I would guess. I also slice an onion, and put that between the patties too.

The idea of putting cheese inside of a meat patty isn't that uncommon. In Germany we are known for - for lack of a better word - pan fried meatballs, called Frikadelle in German. And it isn't that uncommon to put some cheese in the center. People have been doing that before the advent of the internet and globalization. It is even possible that both locations mentioned in the video came up with the idea around the same time independently. The question is who came up with the name first.
