1. Heartworms
If you care about your pets, this one might be hard to wrap your head around. Did you know your pet can get worms in their heart?! Disgusting isn’t it? Well that’s not even the half of it.
Heartworm is a disease caused by parasitic worms. It can result in lung disease, organ damage and heart failure. The worms enter the body through mosquito bites. As the infection spreads into the animal, larvae from the mosquito begin to grow within the heart. From here, they can spread to the lungs and blood vessels.
2. Much like humans, animals need checkups. If your dog is in good health, you are recommended to take them in once a year for an annual physical exam.
A puppy should have their first medical exam pretty much right after you get them. During this exam, the vet will check their health and make sure they are free of parasites. Throughout their years, they need to be taken in for certain types of checkups.
3. This one’s pretty obvious, but it still needs to be mentioned. If your dog is not eating properly, it can be life threatening. There are plenty of poor-quality dog foods out on the market that your animal should stay away from.
There is no one feeding schedule for dogs. When and how much you feed them often depends on several different factors. Regardless, veterinarians recommend that you feed your dog at least twice a day. If your dog has some sort of condition, it may require a special feeding schedule.

My dog died 3 days after giving birth to her puppies😭 she was beaten up by people at night but we couldn't find out who it was. It was so cruel ,she was part of my family for 10 years,she was so innocent and loving. It hurts to say goodbye 💔 but I know that she is in a safer place now✨🥺

@@Skinny_Pimp It was during night time actually she went out alone for a walk when we were sleeping and during the morning around 3-4 am we could hear her baby puppies whining. They were so hungry so we went n check up on them and see that their mom did not return home last night so we went out looking for her and found her near our house laying cold with blood coming out of her snot and mouth💔, we believe that she was hit with something hard😢

Me and my sister found a puppy near a bus stop nearby our house who was crying badly. When we got near her, she had an open wound in her back and it had worms in it. SO many worms and bad smell was coming as the wound was open. We took her to the hospital and the doctor treated her. Now she lives in our home and a part of the family. So active, so joyful and my love. We're glad we have her.

@@ashleymandigo4406 It's usually best to desensitize the dog to the toothbrush and toothpaste when they are young, but it's still possible to do with older dogs! You should do some research on how to desensitize dogs to teeth brushing. And don't forget that dogs require a special dog toothpaste. NEVER use human toothpaste on dogs.

So I had I dog 3 years ago and we gave her away cause she caused us a ton of trouble sadly but the year she came back at night running a few Kms! and when she came back she was skinny had new allergies infections wouldn’t stop scratching and we took care of her so much that now she looks like a new Dog :)

I had a old farm dog lived for 20 years, best dog I ever had, never had a vaccination, never had a vet visit, ate dead animals, that she caught or found l , and ate all table scraps , got hurt a few times, I treated her myself. Very healthy till she completely wore out. Dog was there for me everyday of its life,

@Mila 1228 when my dog got its third vaccine he got very injured by it. He was tired and sad and upset. We thought he would die but he still lives to this day! Dog vaccines can be very dangerous

@@obnoxiousnamegaming5715 you do need to make sure ur pets are getting the needed vaccines. Ur pet might had a disease going on at the time of the vaccine that the vet in question didn't notice. This could've weakened the immunesystem. I was in vet school for a year (didn't finish it) and one of the things i learned is that you shouldn't vaccinate a sick animal. You're basically injecting a disease anyway.

I've been reminding my mom a lot to brush our dogs teeth but she keeps forgetting, so I showed her this video and our sweet little baby labby is doing better! She was born with diseases and almost died multiple times, so now we pay even MORE attention to her to keep her safe. My dog's name is Beatrix (bee-uh-tricks)

My dog died because she licked oil from the ground and we had her for. 11 years she kept throwing up. It was too late to save her life. She passed away. But now I know she is in a much better safe place rest in peace. If you can hear me, I'll miss you so much. 😥😥😥😥😥😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🙏

My dog past away last week, he died at the age of 18! He was so loved! Nobody, except the veterinarian, close family and friends that knew him, believe us when we say it he died after so many years. I wish it was more! The vet says he lived that long because we loved him and gave him excellent care. I really miss him!

FYI: If you have a small dog, please be careful with dog bones and treats in general. I gave my dogs the Greenies dog treats for months. One day, I went to the restroom, while they were eating them. I came back and realized my dog was choking. I thought she was playing. But, I saw hair on my bed. I started the Heimlich maneuver on her. It took me like five minutes or more, to get it up. I’d hit her in the back then go back to H.M. My legs were like jelly, I was so nervous. I’ve probably said this here before. But, I try to warn people everywhere I go. After that, I break up all of their treats, no matter how small they come. Even though this particular treat was larger, as it got down to about an inch, is where she choked on it. It still gives me chills to think about it.

One thing that absolutely petrified me as a dog owner was an incident that happened a year ago. Her nail got caught the a loose string on the couch to the point were her back right paw and her from left paw were bleeding uncontrollably. Had to take her to the vet for emergency care. Luckily they were able to remove the nails completely. She was such a good girl, have had her for 8 years now and that was one incident that scared me..

Just to share, my fathers from France (chef). His mother had dogs all his life, he said they would live in their late teens, longevity was great. My wife and I got our first dog (Beagle). We had no clue what we were doing, Anyways he had so many allergic issues as a puppy many vet visits etc. My parent visited, my dad said.... Son, your grandmother would feed her dogs well, chicken rice & veggies, bone broth etc. At first I thought that was overboard, but we figured worth a try and started that in 2010. Hes now 13 and still full of wild energy like a puppy. His fur coat is healthy and he can easily to 5 miles walk a day. Just saying. ❤️ thanks pops💪🏽🐶

Whatever I eat, I give the same to my dog. Homecooked food and scarcely fast food when I eat. We have dry food for my dog as well but we don't force him to eat it.

All my moms dogs made it to 17 - 20 by pretty much only feeding cooked chicken, boiled beef, raw tripe, cooked beef liver, baked chicken gizzard, high quality kibbles from organic pet store. She would also change and clean water bowls twice a day

I just wanted to share this because it's really important when owning a dog. Grapes and raisins are POISON for them. A single one can kill them, and once they start showing any symptoms after eating them, it's too late. My dog is 3 now, but when she was a puppy, my dad gave her some raisins. Even though both of my parents owned dogs when they were kids, they didn't even know that dogs couldn't eat these. I was ten years old and I knew that these were poisonous so I started freaking out, my dad called the vet immediately and they took her there to make her throw up. Thankfully the vet is really close to our house and we made it in time; the vet said that I saved her life. I think this story is really important because it is surprising how many dog owners have no idea about this, I'm so happy I was able to save my dog but I want to make sure that this doesn't happen to anyone else.

my dog who is 4 years old recently had a bone stuck somewhere in his body and couldint go , so we took him to the vet and they got the bone taken out we also realized that our dog can not eat big bones or his life would be in trouble . We decided to only give him small bones and he has been doing much better we got him a brother asswell and hes very happy !

My parents already had dogs (Poodles) when I was born. The one became blind around when I was born. He died when I was in kindergarten, not sure how old he was but he was Atleast 12. The other dog required a lot of special care. She was blind in one eye, allergic to almost everything, had to have multiple leg surgeries, and SHE WAS ALLERGIC TO PEOPLE. It was insane and had to go to the vet every 3 months, sometimes even more often. Because of all these problems and her meds she was constantly scratching and extra hungry. But she beat the odds and lived a shocking 14 or more years. Considering all her problems that is amazing having an average poodle lifespan.

This video was very informative. I recently had to have my dog spayed and neutered because she developed pyometra. Basically, it is a virus that a dog can get when going into heat. A nasty bacteria got up inside of her and stopped her from eating. She was drinking so much water, trying to get rid of what was inside her. She had 70lbs of puss buildup inside of her before her surgery. She is now doing better after her surgery. Now that I learned about the importance of vaccines in a dog, I will be getting those up to date pretty soon.

Hi, My buddy"Joey" is a Patterdale Terrier I adopted him when he was 6 months old. He loves to run, He runs beside me while I am riding my bike. I made a mistake, I was having Joey run at full speed on concrete and pavement while his bones were still developing this can lead to painful issues and early arthritis. Joey was lucky and I changed up the routine to running on sand, dirt and grass and waited till Joey was over a year old before letting him "Slow run" on hard surfaces, (Joey is 6 now and very healthy) which by the way manicures his nails.

a month or 2 ago we lost our dog that we had for 12 years, she was adopted and returned 3 time then she found us, but she died of cancer at 13 and we all miss her it has been so hard for us

Don’t let puppies alone in your back yard. They will eat everything! Wait till they get older and get ALL their shots/heart worm/flea and tick meds before you let them out in the back without a leash. The disease stays in your yard.

One time my dog 3 month puppy old had puppy-strangles that we found through 2 lumps in her neck so we went to the vet and they told us that she had puppy-strangles, but she was put on antibiotics and she got better

My 7month old puppy passed away last Thursday, heartbreaking 😭. He was recovering from Parvo and passed away in the night. I could have been a better mom and understood all the signs and learnt more about how to raise them. I will do better, hope you are at a better place and no more in pain. ❤️❤️❤️

Please vaccinate your pups against these diseases, as early as 8 weeks its not exspensive and dont forget the boosters.

I give my dog heart worm medicine every month she is perfectly healthy we also take her out for 3 walks a day she loves eating so we give her 2-3 meals a day she got all her vaccinations and we brush her teeth 3-4 times a week she is not even one year yet and she can already sit speak stay and lay down!

@@whiteflowers_ yup ! my puppy got hers from her vet, i forgot the name of it but mine is a big tablet that helps prevent 3 things ! heartworm, maybe parvovirus but i forget, and lyme disease :] just ask your vet if there is any medication you could get for you dog and they should tell you about it ! also, never buy any treat or medication for dogs on amazon. my vet made sure to tell us this before giving us ours, bc most companies on there try and advertise those types of medication but you should never trust them. :(

@@whiteflowers_ Some medication needs to be prescribed but not all. If you know when to give the medication and what medication to give many can be done by the owner. Most dog breeders take care of it them selves.

My dog is kennel training. He does make messes and he wont go normally outside. Im training him now and its stressful but im doing my best. He does pretty good at following directions!!

Do not let him know when you're disappointed but over praise when he does right. Too often people only stress the negative but dogs NEED to know when they do right. He will learn, just need time and consistency.

We’re blessed with a great dog and we have had the means to take care of him as this video describes. He is incredibly smart. He runs the bases with the kids during ball games, with his rules of taking them out by the legs while running. His biggest threat is supposed do gooders trying to “rescue” dognapp him. Suggested protocol to help an animal in need, pull into the driveway on the same side of the road as the animal and knock on the door, or notify authorities. He is big and beautiful. He will not go in the road until they bait or lure him. He has been in our family since he was 9 weeks old and going on 8 years now. Sure, you can lock a dog up and teach it to do nothing. Not as much of a life for such. 100lb hound dogs need to run, swim and stretch out in the shade sometimes. Enable a dog to live life to its fullest and you and the dog will be rewarded exponentially. Had to get into my rant of our threat. Video is right on. Our vet calls “doggy treats” junk food they don’t need. Our dog enjoys raw carrots for his treat.

When it comes to feeding we have 2 bowls, 1 for my big dog and 1 for my 3 littles, always full so they can eat throughout the day whenever they feel like it

my parents got 2 dogs and they were cute at the time i was not born so then when i was born they were 7 or 4 years old so when i saw them im like I GOT A NEW PUPPY!!!! i was so exited until years passed by and one dog was blind one could not walk so one of them got through machine died in a better place now the other one also happened to be the same so i got home from school one day and they were gone i could not find them i got worried so my parents told me what happened i bursted into tears!! cried for like 7 hours!

There was a bird on the road somewhere and it had an injured wing so me and my family and sister took it to a place where injured birds go to feel better, so my dad took it inside and got back in the car and I said “I hope that the bird feels better” 😢

I remember having a pigeon as a pet, I named him Spot, and on top of his neck were some shimmering black feathers that reflected green light in the sun. He had lots of spots around his body too, however we released him because he belonged in the wild

I lost my dog brandy last week when they told us she had a bad heart and the first thing I asked was how did we miss it are there any symptoms but there’s nothing I could do and I miss her I said that to say this when you don’t know what’s wrong and your dog dies it hurts but when it can be prevented I can’t imagine so just listen to your vet ☮️

U are the best my dad grew up on a farm and had a lot of animals that caused trouble that made my dad not like animals a whole lot I will show my family a lot of ur videos to help us also I have two dog's and 3 Sasha is one of the cats and my dogs are Zoey and galager sasha is sneezing and coughing more than usual Zoey has something strange going on one of her legs are not working properly and she has trouble waking, getting up she can't even get on the couches and galager is pretty much fin but he has a growth in his eye and on his chest is a big bald lump we can't get our pets to the doctor right now because the veterans are busy we have to wait a week and hake a two week appointment I hope my pet's are able to be saved in time

I had a Husky and her name was skaya and one day she was playing in the garden and she knew that if she knocked it she would get in trouble and she did that and the thing was a big pole that held up a huge tent and then she had to go back to the place where I got her. It was soooooooo sad I couldn't sleep that night. But maybe she is with a better family now but she probably can't fit in with the rest because of are ways.

I got my dog Sunday evening we had 3 walks or real walks and played fetch a lot so she’s having exercise, monday was her getting use to the place. Tomorrow we are getting her groomed and I’m going to buy her more toys and some treats.

Kinda useful....except sadly my dog passed away 2 years ago by some cancer despite trying our best to do what was needed.....none of the mentioned on the video happened but he was 11 year old stray....none the less it was amazing having him around while it lasted

I mean, I haven't had any weird pets but if this counts, then it counts. I once had a spider as a pet from my backyard fence. I kept it in a box with breathing holes (of course) but one day, I put it back on the fence. It lasted about 3-ish days.

I have a unique 9 month old baby named Meme. She has a twin. The mom went into labor almost 2 weeks early. Meme is underdeveloped. She was born without eyeballs and has a deformed bottom jaw. She has to have dental surgery now because of the massive overbite and deformed bottom jaw preventing her from being able to close her mouth all the way. She can't chew food properly like other dogs. She's currently on mild pain meds, prescribed by her vet, until we can get her in for her surgery. It's pricey. Meme has been to the vet about a dozen times already for medical issues and vaccinations. We love her like our own child. I truly believe that she has only survived this long because of the amount of love that surrounds her. Does anyone please have advice that will help guide us in getting Meme all the treatment that she deserves and needs in order to survive and live a normal happy "pain free" life???

Pray to God I have a dashund puppy 5 months she had some skin disease I tried giving medicine didn't work I prayed to God one night then next morning it's gone the disease was white patch's and bald skin so pray to God I will pray for your puppy

Everytime I pray over her and God helps her everytime. I know he loves his creation. She's definitely unique and I know God allowed her to be her, just the way she is because he already planned on taking care of all her needs, just like he does all of the birds in the air.... THANK YOU... THAT MEANS MORE THAN ANY OTHER ADVICE!!!! BLESS YOU

Please pray for my Abby. She had an emergency spleen removal Friday. Not sure why, but since surgery she is unable to use her back legs. Should know within 2 days if the spleen tumor that ruptured was cancerous or benign. I’ve been praying and crying a lot lately. I can deal with the legs, but God please don’t let her have cancer.

my dog died of myiasis, i was away for a month and we had the neighbor take care of our dogs, and they live in our garage since my grandparents didn't want the dogs inside the house while we were away since they will poop everywhere, so after a month we came back, everything seemed normal at first but when my grandma fed them dinner my dog had a small worm that seemed to drop out of her mouth, my grandma thought it was a worm that she got from our garden since our dogs like to sleep in the garden most of the time, but after 2 days my dog seemed weaker when we had it checked at the vet they found out that worms from flies have been living in her skin, i almost puked when i saw it, the vets had to manually remove the worms and they couldn't test her more because their lab was under maintenance, they managed to remove most of it, the remaining ones are buried deep into her skin, she only manage to live 2 more days then she died a bit painful. i couldn't take care of her since i was in college and i live in a dorm. i was devastated when i heard the news from my grandma, that dog was the first ever dog that i had that always followed me, we have a lot of dogs but that dog was mine. she always greets me when i come home, she always follows me wherever i go, she was with me since i was 13-14. i am now 20

Also vet visits don't have to be super expensive. Check your area to see if they have the mobile vet. Some pet stores have mobile vets come and give your pups a combo of vaccines for $50-$60 or ask your vet if they have an insurance plan. Just a heads up in case someone didn't know. I have a dog with allergies, skin condition, and digestive issues so vet visits became costly, so had to do my research. Take care of your furry friends ❤🧡💜💚

Yes! :) My family goes to Tractor Supply that has vaccine plans for less and are more affordable but my kitten and other cats are still getting what they need. Obviously for spaying/neutering it be different, but once the vaccine portion is done and they’ll only need boosters then we’ll find a vet let’s costly that can do check ups. (Tractor Supply still does them, but you have to ask. They typically still look at your pet’s skin and etc in case there is a concern you missed)

You can also get a supplement to put in your pets water that helps prevent bacteria growth as well.
