Turning 50 WAS a difficulty for me. Now I'm 76, still working as a museum moderator, I'm a college educated painter as well, raised 4 kids love fashion (RL fan and wearer), my house, my doggy and enjoy life. I had to learn to be independent after the nightmare of a divorce at a age of 68, when my husband left me for a 20 years younger woman, who was inside the group of our good friends. I really enjoy my freedom now, am mentally stronger than ever in my life and am filled with thankfulness.

I like you comments. My partners of 16 years asked me to get my own place to live but we would still see each other. This has been extremely hard and I can't get over feeling rejected...I'm in my early 60s...I'm so sad but trying to move on.We get on well but I don't understand why this happened...we had issues but he won't discuss things

Now that I'm 63, I look back on my 50's and am so glad I'm past that. In my 50's, I felt I still had to get up and go to work every day, dress up and wear makeup, and keep up appearances. But after starting my own business at 60, I dress for my own comfort and get lots of rest, stay hydrated, pamper myself and don't stress out. I feel great because I no longer need to please anyone except myself.

As a retired special educator, mom and grandmother who just turned 68, I treasure getting older. Wrinkles are a minor annoyance! As a cancer patient now in remission, I know that I have more to give and to experience in this world. I have been given each day as a gift to enjoy and choose joy and health! I want to thrive and I look forward to the future, though I have challenges in life as the caregiver for my husband who has Lewy Body Dementia. I have goals - I just registered for my first 5 kilometre fun run since having my two significant surgeries and two rounds of experimental radiation, I take violin lessons and play in a Pops Orchestra, love spending time with my husband, daughters, and grandchildren, and devote myself to issues of human justice! Life is great

This couldn't have come at a better time for me. I am 69, a mother of nine and grandmother of 32 and still working full time, but I'm sitting here bandaged from a double mastectomy two weeks ago. I am 61 and work as a lunch and recess monitor at an elementary school. One of the kindergarten teachers broke her arm and I was asked to be her helper for 8 weeks.I was so hesitant to accept the offer, then I thought about it and said yes. I absolutely loved it! Sometimes change is good! Sadly, this is my last week.

Dear at 74, I’m trying to,too! I am having to make concessions but my New Years resolution this year is to dress better and look “better”. My nod to fashion is to try not to dress in a frumpy way. That being said, when do the old lady clothes come into play? I feel I can wear whatever I want, as long as I am not trying to dress too young.

I love that, Beth - "Aging is a privilege." I always remember a quote from Deepak Chopra: "The past is history, the future is a mystery and this moment is a gift. That is why this moment is called the 'present'." This helps me embrace the today. This was a wonderful inspirational video. Thank you, Beth.

Beth, thank you so much for this video! I’m turning 50 this year. Past two years had been very rough and challenging for me as I entered perimenopause with massive changes in my body and mind. Despite all the negative changes I made one great discovery- I stopped caring about opinions of other people. I no longer rely that much on what the others think about me, instead I am more self confident and rely on my own judgments. I am who I am and I want to feel comfortable with myself- I don’t need to satisfy the expectations of others!

I really enjoyed this video, your spot on. I’m in my late 60s and still put in a lot of effort to staying healthy and dressing well. I started a serious regular exercise and weightlifting routine when I turned 50 and have kept it up. It has made a huge difference. i’ve played the piano since childhood and since retiring, I now have time to really practice and work on difficult pieces and memorize music again. I’m always sad and I hear people say they can’t memorize anymore, can’t do this anymore, can’t do that anymore… We need to all be nicer to ourselves.

Hi Beth…I’m 79 and still take care of my skin, wear make-up each day and style my hair. I go to Silver Sneakers three times a week and trying to eat healthy. Like many my age I have arthritis and don’t feel like going to exercise, but I know I have to continue to maintain stamina and prevent falling. I don’t drink enough water which I should change. I hope those who watch you vlog will take your advice. I’ve played Mahjong for a few years and attend Bible study. I have several friends who I’ve known for years. @@Matrix7Adventures Having good genes will only take you as far as 48-50 tops (or menopause whichever comes sooner). After that, nobody escapes sag. But I never paid attention to horizontal lines. As I said, young people have them, too, so I don't care. I do facial exercises to prevent the vertical bands (caused by weakened platysma muscle). To get rid of the early turkey wattle under the chin, I did a lower facelift. I use LED red light, retin-A and a peptide serum. My neck is not firm like a 20-year-old, but it looks pretty good.

I recently learned a new motivation technique to help me with the hard things: sticking to my nutrition goals and daily exercising. I ask myself, what will my life be like in 5/10 years if I do this? What will my life be like in 5/10 years if I don't do this? When I picture myself hunched over, using a cane to get around, and turning down social activities because I don't have the stamina, it's a powerful motivator. I want to live the picture of being active, energetic and involved.

I didn’t mind being 40, I didn’t even mind being 60. But when I was coming up to 50 I sobbed for weeks. It seemed like the end of everything. I should have sought help but I concealed it from everyone even my poor husband. Now 69, I’ve become more accepting. I’m disabled with back injuries and arthritis, but I still look after my appearance and still love fashion. Getting old is tough but the alternative is tougher still. So I keep on keeping on.

I think no matter what age one is that one concentrates on health of entire body and skin; I do also know that consistency of taking care of the body and skin is very important; I had a person tell me once that most woman quit using a product why too early to see if their skin will response to to it; it also doesn't make a difference of the cost of the product.

Honey, I too am on pain medication and have been for almost 20 years. I have degenerative disc disease, fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis. Those diagnosis translate to a fair amount of daily pain. Daily Pain medication does not HAVE to translate into a poor quality of life. FIND SOMETHING YOU ENJOY DOING. For me it has been my iPad. With this little magic machine, I can keep up with friends and family using Facebook, I can learn new things and have endless hours of entertainment using KZfaq, I CAN ENJOY THE LATEST BESTSELLING books using Audiobooks. I have learned to quilt and to can watching YouTUBE VIDEOS. My list goes on and on. Very often I will cuddle up with a grandchild or even a puppy to watch a movie. These are just a few suggestions from my reduced activity life. You will quickly find your own. If you don’t own a tablet and a good set of cordless earphones, you are truly missing out. If you don’t feel you can afford to buy them yourself, ask for them for Mother’s Day, birthday or Christmas. I use Apple products because the device itself discourages hacking and viruses by clearing everything out when the device is turned off. Where I live, this is a must. Please don’t let yourself feel your life is over just because you have conditions requiring daily pain medication. If the medication was for high blood pressure, you wouldn’t feel that way so don’t let the fact that you are using a narcotic make you feel bad. We have worked hard to get through our lives, we deserve happiness and peace throughout our older years. Rest, use ice packs and warm heating pads as needed, take your meds as ordered, try not to keep adding more and more stuff and DO NOT LET YOUR FAMILY OR ANYONE ELSE MAKE YOU FEEL GUILTY FOR USING PAIN CONTROL . IT IS A TOOL, USE IT CAREFULLY, BUT DO USE IT IF IT IS PRESCRIBED FOR YOU. Good luck to you, feel free to answer me back if you want to!

I thought turning 50 was cool! I had money, no kid responsibility, still young enough to have fun. But 60!, Oh, 60 hit HARD. I turned 60 the same year as covid. So I don't know if it was turning 60 or if it was covid or a double whammy..

Looking for Jesus to go forward it's been the greatest win in my life. We're living with different heath issues and about to leave this world so spirituality it's the must have into our own work more than any other discipline 😊

Do you need to change the colours you wear when your hair turns grey

Yes! Suddenly all your old colors look very different. I wear warm autumn colors with my dyed red hair, but when I wear it naturally white, those colors look horrible!

Honestly, I didn't change one thing when I went gray at 50. And I still wear ALL the colors.

Obrigada 😊❤

Even healthy food is having a negative effect on my body, any type of veggies or fruit , are causing tremendous amount of gas. I have made the decision toceat a thing at work! I rather eat at home and have "the gas concert" at home.

I would definitely take a look at which foods are causing a negative effect. It could be as simple as the process of elimination.

Hi Beth, this was a great video. I've always taken care of myself and also always made the effort to look as good as I can. At 64 I'm still doing it. Sometimes other people or friends of a similar age ask me why do I bother and quote things like " You are getting older so why bother now" I know it's because they just can't be or don't want to be bothered. I agree it's also about attitude too, that goes a long way. Thank you for this inspiring video. Regards Julie ❤

I've always wondered why we think we no longer need to care about our appearance because we're older. Old, young, or in between it matters! Why? Because of YOU. Thanks for sharing!
