I don't think we're ever going to see a series like BB or BCS again. Seriously, the care and craftsmanship put into every single shot of this universe has been astonishing. Sad to see it all end but let's be real nothing can last forever and I'm glad they went out on top.

IMO they should recut and rearrange alot of the scenes and episodes from this season. Imagine if we'd have gotten some of the time machine stuff earlier on in the season and let us sit on it for a while or if they had put the stuff with Gene and Jeff earlier. Overall the pacing this season has been all over the place and often grinds the show to a halt. But nonetheless, great show

Jimmy’s biggest regret was letting his brother die. But more then just that was letting his brother down by proving him right in everything. I despise chuck for what he did to Jimmy, but sadly he was right about him. Jimmy used the law as a game and created Saul Goodman and just whipped his ass with the law. He had multiple chances with Davis and main and elder law, but chuck said it best “he can’t help himself”. But after hearing about Kim confessing and possibly losing everything he decided to rid of Saul and become Jimmy again❤️🥲. Him confessing and taking the 86 years is something chuck would of been proud of. Taking real responsibility for what he has done. “My brother is not a bad person. He has a good heart”-chuck. That def came into light after all these years of build up and development. Jimmy is the true main character of this universe. The one who started it all finished it all. The 🐐 of TV protagonist
@SquatLight55
@SquatLight55 2 жыл бұрын
I think his biggest regret was less so letting Chuck die, but more so ignoring Chuck’s last attempt to really bond with Jimmy. He wanted Jimmy to stay so they could just talk about their shared interest: the law. Fixing his relationship with Chuck would’ve saved him all the trouble.

The brilliant writers managed to create a dedicated cult following so strong that even when they wanted to DESTROY Jimmy/Saul/Gene, they did it in such a way that they, the writers, don't cause friction or disdain from their follower audience towards them. GENIUS: How to do it without alienating the audience? They can't destroy him directly, so......they make him destroy himself! That there is just a stroke of creative genius. Not only destroy him in the present, but also in the past. They try all sorts of time-machine tricks to even go as far as to destroy him in our eyes in the past. Even if it means Gene breaking character completely. Even if it means Saul senselessly throwing a meager 7 year sentence out of the window & get what is practically a life sentence just to see Kim. They just can't do it themselves so to speak; so they get Saul to do it to himself.

I felt the finale stuck the landing beautifully. We now have a trinity of perfect character endings for me. Walt won, admitted to his selfish desires, while ultimately destroying everyone around him with his toxicity. Jesse was imprisoned by Walt from day 1 and even literally imprisoned by Todd. Ultimately, he was set free to have a better life. Finally, Saul saved Kim, admitted to his flaws and gave up the tricks to save his ex wife which saved his soul as Jimmy again. All three different but satisfying closing chapters in their own ways. Also, what's beautiful to me is all three characters got what they deserved. I'm gonna miss this franchise but I'll treasure having lives through it

Walt didn’t really win. Even with giving the money his family is forever scarred mentally and cannot live normal lives. Constantly have to look over their shoulder and will be denied certain freedoms. They will forever be shamed by the public because of Walt. It’s like a win and a half in my opinion if that makes sense.

The perfect ending would’ve been Saul taking the 7 years. Im sorry but I’m not trying to hear about him freeing himself whilst taking a 86 year sentence. I just don’t see how this was a better option. The finale was great all around I loved it but deeply hated that choice. I wanted a spin-off of Saul in jail for the next 7 years helping inmates with their cases with crazy prison moments sprinkled in. Or maybe even a Netflix movie to cap off the whole trial and the BB universe called America vs Saul Goodman.

I JUST WATCHED THE FINALE !!! And OMG !!! It was just perfect !!!! Kinda predictable but in a good way because let’s be honest, there was no another way for the character to end up ! To kill him, would’ve been unnecessary and ridiculous, make an ambiguous finale would not be satisfying so obviously make him be arrested BUT one thing I didn’t expect: the confession !! The redemption of the character!! It was perfect for the finale!!! I’m still struggling between which is better breaking bad or better call saul, my dad prefers BCS lol but i simply LOVE BOTH OF THEM EQUALLY!! 10/10 for this series finale and 10/10 for the show overall!! Unfortunately i didn’t watch it since 2015 but I really love it and it’s pretty much enough to say I’m a huge fan of breaking bad universe overall !!!! Nice video!! This felt like the perfect ending for this series. I only started watching the first 5 seasons on Netflix a few months ago and it very quickly became my favorite series of all time. The final scene between Jimmy and Kim actually brought a tear to my eye. Sharing a cigarette while leaning against the wall just like their first interaction in season 1 was beautiful. Plus him doing the finger guns that Kim did previously in the show felt like a true goodbye to 2 of my favorite fictional characters of all time. I get the feeling, and it's more or less confirmed, that he will actually have a pretty easy time in prison. I imagine he probably helped a lot of the people's friends or family at some point and they all seem to respect him. Great video! Now I need rewatch Breaking Bad because I imagine that I will see a lot of things in a new light now.

In my opinion, this ending was probably the only moment in the whole show where everything actually just worked the way it should. Its weird to say that, but just about every moment in BCS and definitely BB, you feel something bad was gonna happend or every little detail was a lead up to a big mess. But in this ending I felt that this warm satisfaction where all the tension was gone where there is no conflict no more hiding, that even in prison, he was free. I think even without the flashy and grand ending that BB had, this one was still very satisfying.

Masterpiece is the only word to describe the finale. The scene with Saul and Mike where they discuss the time machine was perfect. Saul was who he always wanted to be and prioritised money over everything. He belonged in that world. Mike had regrets about the way his life had turned out and wishes he could go back and turn down the bribe. He doesn't belong in the world but accepts responsibility and knows he's in it until the end.

It was also interesting to see how old Pinkman was looking and sounding. Who knows, maybe they did a lot of work to get him back into the role and fitting so well so maybe it would’ve been a lot worse. And again you can only work with what you have. But it seems like he could’ve done something with his voice to make it Sound more like he used to. Or they could have done something with his face. I know they didn’t want to get into de aging. So that makes sense. But maybe they could’ve made an exception for him. Or done something different with make up. The first time I saw him on this show, I didn’t even recognize him. And then I saw Walter White walk into the RV so I had to skip back and watch it again to realize it was Jesse. But I think the Chuck flashback was done really well. And the desert scene. I really liked how they bounced around and I thought that was pretty awesome. Just imagining how they needed to do his hair and set those scenes up again for Jimmy and everything. I thought that was pretty awesome. Unless it was all recorded back then, but I kind of doubt it but you never know. I also think it’s jarring to have entire episodes black-and-white but I think they were kind of committed to that design choice so they had no other way to go with it. Maybe they knew that from the beginning.

Love this finale not as much as Felina but still great way to end a fantastic series. Bob and Rhea deserve Emmy Nominations and hopefully win for Season 6 Part 1 or aleast Part 2. Love seeing Marie, Walt, Mike, Chuck and they made sense with the story. Love this finale season and ended things in this universe nicely and my favorite episode is Plan And Execution incredible episode and the closest to Ozymandias i seen. This and Better Call Saul are next level television and i'll love to see more but if this is the end they went out with a bang. I felt we'd gone full GOT a few episodes from the end with Jimmy/Gene breaking fully bad. He was never really a bad, bad guy & his actions as Gene felt disconnected. I can appreciate how brilliant this show & BB is but him falling on his sword was deeply unsatisfactory. We don't want to see him behind bars for 86 years. The two Black & white episodes (Somewhat out of Character) were created to make you accept the final outcome. Take those two episodes away & we'd likely be less accepting of him going away for life.

Loved the finale and series - and much like your journey to Infinity War, your BB and BCS content has been a tremendous blessing as I endured the wait for the finale! I was expecting a bittersweet ending, and that's what we got. I actually think in the end the two episode detour with Gene really worked for me - not having Kim around or knowing what was happening with her made us as the audience really feel her absence keenly - as Jimmy did. But I understand your feelings that they could have edited that differently to maybe play better, and I'm glad to hear the ending was as satisfying for you as it was for me! What exceptionally well written series these were.

Yeah ngl if they either started the second part of the season with Genes episode “nippy” and then finished the rest in the continuity probably would’ve helped with the pacing, obv maybe change some little scenes here and there but overall would’ve made the second part a little more energetic and climatic

I just finished it, and when the episodes became black-and-white, I felt like it was just dragged out and unnecessary. I think earlier in the show, people said that it was a slow show, but I never noticed it, because I feel like it held my interest and kept me intrigued. There were so many times in the season where I was thinking, I get it! They didn’t need to dwell on scenes, because we understood the point. There were no twists or anything. Like when a scene started, we already knew what was happening. We didn’t need a montage, and we didn’t need to see him going through the guys house robbing it. Unless there was some profound, meaning that I didn’t get to those scenes. For me it was a little jarring having the different timelines. I really wasn’t interested in what happened after breaking bad, but I guess like you said, that’s one way to give the show, a conclusion rather than just leading up to the beginning of breaking bad. Although I think they could have probably found a cool way to make it come together, where it only ends at the beginning of breaking bad. But I guess this way we get more closure to the series since this show came out after breaking bad, they have a unique opportunity to portray that. The fact that there was a big courthouse scene at the end, I feel like that was a good way to do a finale. But at the same time it didn’t even come close to being as epic as the famous chuck Court scene. They really needed to top that. And I don’t really think they did. Although they are really started focusing on Jim and Kim for the show, so it makes sense they would finish out with that dynamic. I don’t know. Something about it just didn’t hit for me. Not like the rest of the show did. But they had to find a way to wrap it up so I guess they did it in a pretty good way. I didn’t even realize until this season, that the black-and-white scenes were supposed to be after breaking bad. I don’t know if I was supposed to get that ahead of time or what or maybe they had other hints. But when I first was watching the show, I was really confused about the Cinnabon scenes now I really want to just watch a compilation of the black-and-white scenes. Oh yeah, that’s another example of when I thought the black-and-white scenes were dragged out. Like I get he is distracting them with Cinnabon‘s. I don’t know why we needed to see that so much. And I get that the dude was stealing from them. I mean I feel like they kind of show Jimmy being more evil like Walter White so I guess that’s important there. But overall I wasn’t the biggest fan. It felt like they just started killing off characters to end the show but you know, they had to have a conclusion somehow.

I also think it seems weird how Jimmy suddenly wants to do the Noble thing and be held accountable. I guess Kim was supposed to be the trigger for that, so maybe it just shows that he still really likes her. But it just seems weird for him to go completely out of character. Even being honest about his brother for once. I mean that kind of cognitive dissonance doesn’t just happen.

It would be a better ending if, when Kim came into the cell to offer a cigarette, they smoked it, but it was mutually decided beforehand that they would commit suicide by smoking a toxic cigarette. If that's the ending they wrote, it could have been better so far. Because we all know they both love each other so they can't live with that... Do you like it, reader?

I feel like a lot of shows have the tendency to want to shock or twist their audiences right at the end so they can leave off on some spectacular note that everyone remembers and talks about forever. The problem with that is that if it doesn't work, it feels like it tarnishes the whole series. It's a huge gamble in that way. With Breaking Bad, it really did FEEL like it needed some big massacre or huge send off, so that's what we got. With Better Call Saul, we didn't need any of that. They just needed to resolve the story and the characters' arcs and send them off properly. It might not go down as some "greatest finale of all time" or even one of the most MEMORABLE finales, but it respected the characters and the plot to simply give it a fitting end...and that's what matters most. It did them all justice (no pun intended).

I thought they stuck the landing although I would have written a different one. Best ending ever for any show imho was "The Americans", with BB up there as a very close second. I didn't expect Gene to get caught- thought he had a big enough head start to get away and get vacuumed, but that's not the direction the writers wanted to go. So be it. Jimmy's love and respect for Kim was enough for him to reverse course and accept full punishment and gain a new kind of freedom in prison, and somewhat restore their relationship.

Watching BCS had filled a void in my life that desperately needed to be filled. It's more than just a TV show. It's a reflection of life itself and it shows the grey area of life. It's not that you are just a hero or a villain. You can reflect on your life, look back upon the mistakes and correct it. Did Jimmy fully redeem himself? IDK maybe but he is headed down that path. It's not easy to just fuck up your own life when you're one of the most clever criminal lawyers around but that's what Saul did. He basically said goodbye to liberty in 7 years and I actually think he even took the better deal because his life inside prison is pretty good as Saul is already known and his charisma keeps helping him with the inmates. I will truly miss this show, it has been way too good.

Ngl the sudden shift from Fun & Games to Nippy was a mistake for me. If I was writing the show I probably would’ve made a shorter final season that focused solely on the post-Breaking Bad timeline - put the Gene flashbacks from Seasons 1-5 in there (probably make them all their own episode) in there and flesh out some of the BB flashbacks we got. These last episodes were undoubtedly great but especially coming off the rest of Season 6 it wasn’t half jarring.

Also, while I can agree that these last few episodes function as an epilogue to Breaking Bad, I very much don't think that they were an epilogue to Better Call Saul. An epilogue is going to take place after the main conflict has been resolved, and that definitely wasn't the case yet until the final episode here. The central conflict of this story was *Jimmy vs himself* - and much like Chuck relapsed hard into his worst tendencies right before the end, Jimmy (as Gene) does too. It isn't until that final episode that we see Jimmy finally choose the right thing, own up to his mistakes, and finally face his grief over what happened to his brother. The bus/prison parts feel more like the BCS epilogue, but even those resolve some loose ends with Kim.

I loved the whole series and every single episode and i think the nature/nurture paradigm was perfectly executed until the very last episode. I guess i am one of the few people who, despite agreeing with every analysis of this final episode, still felt that the execution was kind of rushed and confusing. I get what Peter Gould and everyone else was trying to say but to me, but it felt like Saul's final pang back into Jimmy happened way too quickly and wasn't handled sufficiently because in prison he was still comfortably going by the name Saul after denying it before and being so peculiar about being called Jimmy again... Again, this can all be explained but i just thought i couldn't be as celebratory as everyone else when he couldn't make his apologies before he heard about Kim's. Again, he only adapted to another person whose approval he craved. Before, he was a ruthless son of a bitch and loved it but when it was just about his persona...again, i guess *why* he did. It, but after all of BB i guess it was too little too late for me

Did not think the finale was anything special. Just reiterated past themes and presented nothing new. The cameo's were forced. The ending was quite obvious if you were following the "Gene Saga." He was screaming he is ready to get caught when he almost got caught burglarizing the cancer patients house. When he went up stairs you see him break his focus and start pouring himself a drink with a smile on his face.
