This video has earned a like from me. Some books take hours to get a simple point across for extra pages. This one did it very efficiently. Each section got right to the point, explained each concept, provided a brief explanation, then moved on. Excellent!

As an naturally inclined introvert the "small interactions" skill has been a game changer for me. There are so many opportunities during my day for these and I used to avoid them. Then you kinda build on those bit by bit..day by day and you build a very valuable skill.

I’ve tried a few of these ways of talking to people- most of them fall flat, ... it seems as if most people don’t want to be bothered or they act as if you’re inconveniencing them or there’s some “ reason “ you’re trying to talk to them- or whereas in the past, it was considered sweet or endearing that you tried to talk to them- Now you’re considered “lame”

@@RussellEricNewton We should start a movement to break this nasty cycle- I don’t quite know how it started (I’m sure social media has a lot to do with it) but somehow it needs to turn around because if it continues to grow it’ll be like an ugly, lonely societal cancer. It feels really cold and empty. It doesn’t have to be this way!

Good idea to learn to access your situation , you are right this can be bothersome. See sometimes it's not just what we say but what our body language says . But one thing is for certain a genuine smile can change someone's day . A smile is the most important tool we have . I can remember folks use to give the greeting of the day more . Just this simple thing creates common courtesy in other areas . Ones approach doesn't need to be nuclear keep it simple and remember you are not looking to.lach onto someone . Just as he speaks of the conversation with someone on the same Isle . I give the greeting of the day but to Walk up to someone and just start asking questions . I don't see myself doing that unless I have a question about something I'm looking for . And you always have to weigh personalities in there , yes even ours . So we read many things different approaches and take a little from here and there . But absolutes are in all things , then comes style

Making small talk with baristas, waiters, shop assistants and other people in similar positions is super rude. Imagine you have to serve hundreds of people a day. Imagine everyone asks you how is your day going. Jesus Christ.

In some cases, I am sure you are correct, and in other cases, I am sure Patrick is correct. A person has to "read the room" and apply strategies as appropriate. There aren't any blanket solutions to any social skills, are there?

@@anatorres-ym8ke You are a rare exception. Most cashiers don't care about "shooting shit", they just want to earn their living and go home. By forcing your small talk on them for your selfish reasons, you are abusing their unfortunate position. They are doing very hard labor for pennies, often are abused by their supervisors, and now they have to be friendly to every person who uses them as a free "practice target"? Tell me about being antisocial
