People always say MGP changed their name to Ross and Squibb... Ross and Squibb is the distillery owned by MGP. MGP still exists -they are the parent company, and they manufacture much more than just spirits.

For Penelope, I wouldn't get anything below a 100 Proof as it seems they are not good with the watered down stuff, but any Barrel Strength (four grain) or toasted (above 100 proof) are good as well with a decent price point (50 to 60). I totally understand the work time, which is not great with KZfaq time 🤣. I'm just very grateful you always watch my videos when you can 🥰. I dont know if its you or bourbon in general. It seems a lot of people are getting burned out on it right now. I dont know if it’s because of the sky high prices of some products, some disappointing new releases or general burn out. What do you think the reason is?

@@GLENBECKHAM Hey Glen. I think people are getting more "picky" with both Bourbon and KZfaq videos as there are so many choices now. With the change of distributor by Buffalo Trace, it seems they are more available in places you didn't see them before (small stores, grocery stores, etc.). So people are less willing to spend the 50 to 100 trying a new brand from a NDP or craft distillery they don't know about. With that, people seem to be watching less KZfaq videos on smaller or unknown distilleries. My Stagg or allocated bottle videos still seem to do well. The Burnout and prices are also a factor, but it seems it's not to many of the bigger WhiskeyTube channels like SLB, ADHD, or Mash & Drum as they are getting more views than ever. I need to improve to inject a little "humor" or "personality" now as I should be a little bit more comfortable in front a camera. They always say the cream will rise to the top so I need to get better to rise in views 😆

@@WhiskeyBankI definitely agree with people being more picky. I know that I am. Im down to about a handful of channels now. I try to watch the ones who seem honest and who’s palate’s match mine. I recommend that you be yourself. There are some people that do try to add humor to their videos but they aren’t funny and I just refuse to watch their videos. If its natural its different but most seem forced. The more natural a person is the more I want to watch and support their channels, but thats just me

Hey CrispyTaters! Four Roses is a Single Barrel so there could be some variance to your experience, maybe this one is the best single barrel ever!! 😉. I have had the Widow Jane Decadence. It is a good pour but for me, it is a tad too sweet with the maple so I have not yet got a bottle, but if sweet is your thing, you will absolutely love it!! For me, I haven't had too many of their offerings, but the Four Grain Barrel Strength (the regular is... ok) or any of their Toasted series (bourbon or rye) is a great bottles at reasonable prices. If you ever get one, let me know how you like it!

Hey Thomas! Even though Penelope and Hotten Young are from MGP (Old Carter is also from MGP), they could be completely different. Obviously different barrels from different rickhouses with a different profile and how they wanted to blend it. There is a big variance between even single barrels right next to each other 😆. Penelope 9 year barrel strength was one of my top bourbons of last year. And the Toasted and the 4 grain barrel strength will always have a place on my shelf. Every Penelope I've tried is good but the Architect is slightly disappointing imho. Anyway, to each their own 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hey Mike! I will have to respectfully disagree with your opinion on MGP and Penelope. MGP provides master blenders an avenue to get top quality whiskey without having to spend a fortune on building a distillery, hiring master distillers, and waiting years before they can even sell one bottle; basically the "barrier to entry" into the whiskey or bourbon business is so much lower due to companies like MGP, providing competition to the "big distilleries". Without MGP, companies like Sagamore, Bardstown, Penelope, Old Carter, etc. would not exist, creating competition for the big distilleries and essentially keeping the prices down to a certain degree. Of course there are some overpriced NDP that use MGP (i.e. Nulu) that sometimes gives it a bad name, but that's Nulu's fault, not Penelope or MGP's.
