Nice thorough review and comparison David. I just got a backup bottle of Wild Turkey 12 Year 101 today. (I got a guy) The bottle I have is getting low from giving out samples of it. I really like them both, but prefer the taste profile of JD 12 a little more. 🥃

Wild Turkey is a mainstay bc it never disappoints. JD however put out a lot of amazing and new stuff recently so they have been getting more shelf space on my bar. Great review as always!

Hey David! I scored a Jack Daniels 10 & 12yr today at BevMo for 85.00 & 95.00 bucks and the 10 is really nice but the 12 is a bit better! I also picked up the ECBP A124 and the Larceny BP A 124 today from my store owner friend for 55.00 bucks each and the Larceny as usual is really nice and the ECBP has a sweet first sip with a spicy finish! It’s really nice regardless of the age and proof it’s awesome IMO! Cheers!

Great review David! I would definitely pick the WT for sure over the JD. Man its been yrs. when I had the WT and I would say maybe 07' was the last time when I was stationed in Japan. Haven't had either of these yet but I'd say Jack Daniel's and Wild Turkey are probably my two favorite brands. Jack Daniel's has been killing with with all of their special releases, and Wild Turkey is just Wild Turkey, always consistently great and don't have a single bad product

David, I love your notes & reviews. I wish I had a better nose & palate but I know what I like & don't like, just can't pull out all of those flavors. I had a sample of JD12 & it was as good of a pour of bourbon as I've ever had. Cheers Kevin

If both were attainable at retail in my area I would buy both just to try to do the comparison myself. If I just had to choose 1 it would be WT 101 12 year. The tasting notes described make me want to day drink now.

I can't speak about either JD 12 or WT 12 unfortunately. Since I last commented though I picked up WT 101 and it's become a staple. Good alone or as a mixer (but only certain mixed drinks because of the strong peanut note in Wild Turkey). So I can only imagine that a 12 year aged WT is going to be pretty tasty! A lot has developed for me as of lately. I've gotten to try some allocated bourbons. Weller Antique 107 I couldn't stand and wanted to pour it down the drain but it was $15 for a pour. 1792 Single Barrel, I must have gotten a bad barrel. Wanted to pour that down the drain too but it was $14 for a pour. I tried an Eagle Rare 10 Year Private Barrel pick, $20 a pour. Got it side by side with a pour of regular ER 10 also $20 a pour. They picked a good barrel for sure. Slightly darker, much more vanilla, some more pronounced tobacco notes (love that!) and finish and mouth-burn was comparable to regular ER. It was a hotel bar/restaurant if you were wondering why the prices were high. Then I was at a friends place for his birthday. He let me get a pour of Buffalo Trace, Blanton's Original and Peerless Double Oak Rye. The BT was okay, I got a bottle later to have around as a mixer or on ice at least. The Blanton's was totally underwhelming for how much hype and attention it gets. It was smooth, I got the honey and vanilla notes and the not harsh finish. But it was not what I was expecting for all the praise it gets. The Peerless Double Oak Rye. Uffda, what can I say? I hate using the catchphrase liquid gold but hot dang! Somehow smooth, sweet and spicy with a nice long tingly finish! Now that's a $100 bottle I would buy all day long! I also managed to find a bottle of Eagle Rare which I promptly opened, got about a third of the way through the bottle then had to stop drinking because I can't find a backup bottle ☹. But I've got Maker's Mark Cask Strength, Knob Creek 12 and WT 101 to supplement for now. I like the KC 12 so much I'm eyeing up a local store pick of KC Single Barrel Select 👍.

Hey David,you are right about JD12 availability. I think I just missed the February release. If you're not at the store at opening time day of release ,you're not getting it at msrp.I ll be hunting this weekend for batch 2,maybe I ll get lucky. Looking forward to the 15 and 18yr release. I’ve got two bottles of the check Daniel‘s 12 year old batch one. I definitely did not go wrong by purchasing them. Unfortunately I have yet to come across wild turkey 12-year-old so I can’t really compare. Cheers David.🥃

Wow ! These two are hitters. Here in So-Cal it is hard to find the JD. When you watch hunting videos you see it on the shelves all over the place. That would be nice... maybe some day. Until then, I'll stick to my JD single barrel - barrel proof. I can put that bottle on my bar with no problem. Thanks for another great video. D

Loved my JD12. Got two at MSRP and traded one for a Stagg SP. Immediately regretted the trade after I tried the JD12.

I tried JD12 in a speakeasy and they only charged $30 for a 2oz pour...very fair price. Been searching for a bottle ever since. Amazing juice.

Already had the Turkey and last years JD12, Just found this years JD 10 and 12. $100 for the 10 and $120 for the 12.

Personally I’m going with WT JD is not something I gravitate to. Is it good probably but I’m a fan of everything WT.

You got the Jack Daniel’s mash bill wrong. It’s 80% corn, 12% barley, 8% rye. You switched the barley and the rye.

Wild Turkey with the exception of the 81 proofs never lets me down then again I really don't care for any low proof , that Russell father and son team maybe the best in the business.

I think WT 101 is severely overhyped by whiskeytube. I have 12 years, 8 years and 13 years. None of them coming close to JD 12. Disclaimer: I do not like high rye whiskey. Just my opinion. I do not try to offend anyone.
