Like a lot of Spectrum games, I loved Skool Daze, but if you got stuck, you were screwed ! These were days before the internet, so working out how to finish it was ruddy impossible !

It wasn't a game designed to finish, noone in the world finished it or got anywhere - 99% had no idea what the goal was. It was fun to be in the world and see how long you could last.

I will always think a GB Skool Daze would have been a major worldwide hit. A GBC followup with added quests and more to do would have been huge and we would likely have Skool Daze as a long series. Im stunned that no publisher bought the rights to Skool Daze for a GB release. It would have been massive, a game boy classic that every kid remembers alongside Mario Land & Tetris.

😢 could be really tough for some. My experience was a mix. Early secondary school was not great.

Yeah Grange Hill, a big pile lol. Loved Mikie, but also Skool Daze and Back to Skool 👍 All 3 classic speccy games of our youth. Nice one Seb, enjoyed 😊

Tubaruba feels so much better on a CPC. I'm not sure it is legitimately a better game, but it's a proper mode 0 (high colour) title with fast paced action, which was rare at the time.

Wracked my brains but I couldn't think of any school games you hadn't already mentioned. I recall being so disappointed with grangehill, utter pants. I agree, mikie is a classic.

Great intro mate, clever use of editing and thought is something i love. Mikie was great, loved it at the arcades and the C64, the spectrum though gives a fantastic rendition of the tunes and it's a great conversion too. Was never a fan of Skool Daze or Back to Skool though, always thought they were way overhyped though i can understand why folks loved them. Surprised there were so little school games out of the whole catalogue.

Cheers Denny, I will say that Skool Daze and Back to Skool do feel a bit sluggish now but are still great. I think as a kid, it was the closest to the school experience you could get, so doing naughty stuff was heaps of fun. Mikie still plays great, what a game! 😍

Maybe quest/adventure games about school should be taken into consideration as well? Like "Escape from School" or smth more advanced and tricky😊

Yeah I kind of feel bad for text adventures as I did play them a bit, but I also remember most of the time they were a pain in the arse. Not sure 50 year old me has it in him....

My wood work teachers were called Mr. Woodwood and Mr. Woodhead. I guess it's the reverse of naming yourself after the job, just go to the one you're already named for.
