In the comics, Werewolf by Night is linked to Moon Knight's origin story. Later, they COMPLETELY retconned Moon Knight. But originally, Moon Knight was a mercenary, and he did not have DID. He got his powers by being scratched by a Werewolf, and so his powers would wax and wain according to the phases of the Moon. His costume was woven from silver threads, and the throwing stars were made from silver because he specialized in hunting werewolves.

Sooo glad you watched the black & white version first vs the color one. I think it works soo much better. Yes you are right, Mobius did mention werewolves and vampires when first talking to Loki. The Marvel Special Feature category label is used for one offs and/or to help introduce characters that may get more exposure later. So definitely more to come of these.

ted aka manthing is a nexus being in the comics. incredibly strong dude. In the comics, a nexus being is any person or thing that has the power and capability to drastically affect probability and the timeline. These Marvel characters are rare, but a variant of them exists in every reality and serves as a temporal anchor point for that reality in the multiverse. He was a man at one time, but can't go back to a human. He was working on a super soldier serum type of thing, and when the bad guys came for it, he injected it into himself to hide it, and he wrecked his car in the swamps of the Florida everglades and some bad juju happened and he transformed into man thing. He is one of my favorite comic characters.

This is one of the few MCU projects where I literally knew nothing about it before I watched it. I had no clue what characters were in it or anything. Even by the end of it, there was only one character I recognized at all (Man Thing aka Ted), and it was a character I knew basically nothing about from the comics other than what he looked like and his name, because I'd never read any Man Thing comics, I'd just seen them in the shop. I had zero expectations going into this, and I ended up absolutely loving everything about it. They did such a fantastic job of making this an homage to classic monster flicks, and I was surprised at how invested I got in the main characters, and in finding out more about this whole side of the MCU. I was really impressed!

In the comics, Ted is typically shown as being basically mindless. He's empathic and is drawn towards strong emotions. Fear enrages him and causes his body to secrete a caustic substance, thus, whoever knows fear burns at the touch of...the Man-Thing. Jack in the comics could turn into a werewolf at will and retain his intelligence, but had no control whatsoever during a full moon. That's probably changed over the years, as it's been decades since I've read anything with him in it.

Here are some interesting facts about werewolf by night. Werewolf by night first introduction was through Moon Knight. Jack Russell was family was cursed by the dark hold and the reason he looks like a old school werewolf is because later in life he's able to remain in wolf form while still maintaining his personality with the ability to speak normally. Elsa bloodstone differ from the comic books because in the comic she was a vampire but the MCU Elsa seems to be just human with the bloodstone giving her super strength speed a healing factor with eternal life. Man thing real name is Ted and he was a failed super soldier attempt that sparked the protector of the Nexus between the regular world and supernatural. Like the away station in Doctor strange multiverse of madness that fought in between the universes man thing is a guardian of one of those stations. Ted also has been a champion on the planet sakaar where Hulk got stranded on.

I'm not an expert on Elsa Bloodstone, but nothing I have seen has ever portrayed her as a vampire in the comics. She fights a lot of vampires and she was bit by Nosferatu but the Bloodstone choker she wears not only protects her from the effects of vampirism, it also cured Nosferatu. I don't think it's possible for her to become a vampire.
@nvp8191

Elsa is a vampire in the comic books and the only reason they didn't go with that for the MCU is because that would take the spotlight off of blade.

@@nvp8191 Can you point me to an issue where she is revealed as a vampire? Or something online that lists being a vampire in her origin story? Every comic I have read with Elsa Bloodstone in it does not have her as a vampire, and I can find nothing online that backs that up. I'm honestly curious as this would appear to be a big part of her story that I have missed.

Ted Sallis, the monster in this video, in Marvel comics is called "Man-Thing" and is a creature of the Florida Everglades, not a sea creature. His origins started as a biochemist trying to replicate the super soldier formula. After a series of events he was forced to use it on himself to survive a dangerous situation; but being in the particular swampland environment at the time, he mutated into something different than he expected. His touch secretes burning acid on anyone that has negative feelings. Man-Thing is Marvel's version of DC comics' Swamp-Thing, who is also a creature of the swamp.

Jack Russel's book Werewolf By Night is most famous for introducing Marvel's Moon Knight. Also a series starting Oscar Isaacs. Werewolf By Night vol. 1 #32. August 1975 writer Doug Moench and artist Don Perlin (who also drew Ghost Rider along with Mike Ploog). 😮 What the hell is that? That's Ted! Ted Sallis a.k.a. The Man-Thing. "Whoever knows fear burns at the touch of The Man-Thing!". A former scientist turned swamp creature. He resides in the Nexus of Realities which happens to reside in the swamp. 😂 DC has a swamp creature also called Swamp Thing. Man-Thing came out in May of 1971, Swamp Thing in July 1971. 😅. Swamp Thing is a plant elemental. Man-Thing is more of a horror monster. 😮

They're watching in release order. Did they skip it?

They have watched the entirety of She-Hulk - and really enjoyed it - over on Patreon. However, they did watch this first. But also, since it would probably unfortunately most likely not get a lot of attention, apart from negative one, it is still a big question if it is worth all the time and effort to edit it for KZfaq.

@@HIPsteHeero well that would be unprecedented for this channel. Is this something they said or an assumption you're making?

"Not where wolf? There wolf!!!". Igor So Werewolf By Night was influenced by the Universal Monsters franchise. Marvel also has their own version of Dracula and Frankenstein's Monster. All of these were used primarily in the 70's when supernatural books like Ghost Rider were all the rage. 😂

Guys, this is the only MCU movie or show I skipped. I have not figured out how it fits into the Multiverse Saga. Dane, Sersei's boyfriend? Blade maybe? Nevertheless, I am very glad I watched it with you. Good job, guys 👍

When this came out, I thought MCU was going to go full supernatural for phase 5. We got this, Blade was coming up, Moon Knight, etc. Midnight Suns would be the logical conclusion to the phase in my eyes. The current MCU has gone off the rails and become too bloated. Too many dangling threads. Tighten it up with a big threat like Lilith and introduce a new team that is uniquely qualified to deal with it. By the way, Ted's wife, Ellen Brandt appeared in Iron Man 3 as one of the extemis infected agents. Totally changed the character, but they used her name for some reason.
