So, here's the deal: getting permanent residency in Canada as an international student isn't a cakewalk, and I don't want to give you false hope. But, if you're up for some strategic planning and the right moves, you can definitely up your chances of scoring that PR status. In this video, I'm gonna spill the beans on how most international students can go from being a student to a permanent resident in the Great White North. You'll get all the inside scoop to make savvy decisions. Let's dive in!

There are 900,000 total international students in Canada as of 2023-2024 school year. Most if not all apply for a post graduate work permit every year. There are 100,000 express entry and 100,000 provincial nominee spots every year. Getting PR as a International student after graduation is VERY difficult right now because of the numbers.
@studyliveexploreca
@studyliveexploreca 6 ай бұрын
While the number of international students is rising, there are not 900000 each year. There was a lot of pent up demand from the pandemic. Where did you find the quota of 100,000? I don't think there is a quota for Express Entry.
@keithpalmer4547
@keithpalmer4547 5 ай бұрын
@@studyliveexploreca Indeed I was incorrect the total number of 900,000 International students are the current students enrolled not graduating each year. I would venture most of these students are in 2 year programs with dreams of getting PR though. The odds of getting PR right now as an International student are not great to say the least. But this was always the gamble that governments could change immigration policies year to year and you could start school one year thinking you can get easy PR in a few years then have the rug pulled out from under you.

Well just let you know, the government imposing more rules and limited international student to come to Canada, do to crisis in housing, there are not enough place or house to live even for Canadian, very Shortage. And local people has been heavily criticize the immigration, so if you just plant to get a Diploma mill or not a proper school or University, Pls think twice as they will make it hard to apply for PR.

My family was an immigrant back in the 90s (Richmond, BC). Back then it was great, took only 3 years of stay to become a citizen. The biggest difference now VS the 90s is back then there was not a lot of immigrants. Mostly HKers trying to escape the China handover during 1997. The HKers are rich so they were quality immigrants a lot of them are doctors, lawyers, business people who paid a lot of taxes. Now there are a lot of immigrants from poorer countries like India, Pakistan, and yes the Philippines. Most are not super skilled workers like doctors or business people. That is why the free healthcare is not so great anymore. There is now way more people, but tax collections have not kept up. Now I live in the Philippines now but still kept my dual citizenship.

How effective is this as I used to be skeptical only principal applicants are the ones who can make such decisions.

Hi and thanks for subscribing. So in theory everybody can apply for PR at any time if they meet the application requirements. Sometimes The spouse of the student can gain enough work experience while their partner is still studying and go ahead and apply for PR. It really depends on the profile of the applicant what PR stream they might qualify for and if it makes sense to apply. It doesn't have to be the student that's applying.

How many international students obtain PR status within 10 years of getting a study permit? Statscan research says 30%. Anybody thinking of coming needs to know and understand this. Nothing the minister said suggests it's going to get easier. Consider this before uprooting your family and possibly going into debt to finance this pathway.

No commerce jobs are in the 82 prioritized occupations list announced by IRCC in 2023. You won't qualify for category-based Express Entry (EE) draws with lower CRS cutoffs. You belong to all program EE draws with very high CRS cutoffs (500 and above recently). You can calculate your own CRS score using CRS Tool. It is very difficult to get above 500. In some provinces, they have supply chain management in their PNPs. You need to choose your province of study carefully. Supply chain managers are not in the 82 prioritized occupations announced by IRCC in 2023 so you won't qualify for category-based Express Entry draws with lower CRS cutoffs.

In 2023, IRCC announced 35 prioritized health occupations. If you work in one of them, you qualify for health category Express Entry draws with lower CRS cutoffs for ITA (invitation to apply). Look for "Express Entry rounds of invitations: Category-based selection" and review the 35 health occupations. Choose your major accordingly.

No commerce jobs are in the 82 (35 health, 24 STEM, 10 trade, 10 transport, 3 agriculture/agri-food) prioritized occupations announced by IRCC in 2023. You won't qualify for category-based Express Entry (EE) draws with lower CRS cutoffs. You belong to all-program EE draws with very high CRS cutoffs (recently 500 and higher). hi coach! my daughter is taking up LPN or practical nurse this winter 2024 and she’s only 18yrs old. Do you think after graduation and taking PGWP she has a high chance for pr? thank you ! 😊
@smwk2017
@smwk2017 7 ай бұрын
LPN is in-demand and is one of 35 prioritized health occupations announced by IRCC in 2023. It qualifies for health category Express Entry draws with lower CRS cutoffs for ITA (invitation to apply). After graduation, study and pass NCLEX exam to obtain provincial nursing license. If failed, one can re-take it every 45 days (for a fee); up to 8x a year. With license, apply for LPN jobs in hospitals of that province. Work 1560 days. File Express Entry. She can also file PNP at the same time. PR prospect is excellent. Avoid Quebec because it requires a French language test for licensure.

I recommend 2-yr Practical Nursing college program. After graduation, study and pass NCLEX exam to receive LPN license from province. Then look for a LPN job in hospitals of that province. Work 1560 hours and apply Express Entry. You qualify for health Express Entry draws with lower CRS cutoffs for ITA. After getting PR, you can study a bridge program to become RN (Registered Nurse), but paying local resident tuition rate. There is pay differential between LPN and RN. RN requires 4-yr university degree.

@@forpz2789 Bridge program is for LPN to RN. Once you become PR, you pay local resident tuition rate for the bridge program. You need to investigate a bit because duration and cost of Bridge program is depending on the university. Health management is not a prioritized occupation. It is not good for Express Entry. You need to find a PNP that has health manager in it. Also, it is hard to find a job as health manager or administrator out of school (without experience).
