Just to clarify. There is a fabric dust cover on the1990 pro headphone divers. There is also similar fabric on the ear pads. Installing the Dakoni Elite Velor will yeild two layers of fabric over the drivers. This is ok correct? There is no need to cut out the fabric on the Dakoni pads.

There is no need to cut the fabric! You may either remove the cover on the headphone or leave it on. It is up to your personal preference.

Got some choice leather for my DT 990 (edition) and decided to boost the upper frequencies a bit (2k-8k), but liking what I hear now. Treble is just about perfect, nice bass, great comfort.

Loving the comfort of the Dekoni pads on my 1990 but really wish Dekoni would fit them with better (stronger, more rigid) lips so they are easier to put on like the original Beyer Dynamic pads. That is far from being the case currently, expect a good 10mn of fumbling to install the Dekoni pads currently, the reason for this video probably.

God, the 770s are easy to remove, but they do not like what seems to be a simple swap. lol (Edit:They don't have the cutout to rotate on, so brute force it lol) (Edit Edit because too much free time and yard work to put off: The velour elite with the stock foam insert removed sound amazing. The slightly abrasive high frequencies are smoothed out (distance increase from driver?) while most other frequency characteristics seem the same. Not to mention the comfort level went from okay-for-under-an-hour to let's-get-nerdy-at-the-desk-for-a-couple-hours.

What about that foam circle over the driver? The Dekoni pads have a layer of foam as well, so there is now two layers between the driver and the ear. Won't that affect sound negatively? Or do you remove that ring with the foam circle on the headphone itself before putting on the Dekoni pads?

I went on here because Im pretty sure that stiching line should alligned with the other. I didnt do that and one driver was louder than the other

wow that looks easily stretchable, compared to beyerdynamic's official earpads.. ive ripped my latest replacement struggling to get them on.

Does the foam circle over the earphone driver need to be removed? Does having two layers between the driver and the ear impact sound negatively? There's other comments referring to this subject but the response seems to have been removed. Any information would be much appreciated.

You do not need to remove the foam circle over the driver. The sound changes ever so slightly with our pads and our dust filter.

@@DekoniDylan CAN you remove them if youd want to? Isnt the foam part of keeping the driver in place, would the driver start to rattle since its now held on with only the plastic ring? I ordered some elite hybrids for my mmx300 yesterday and i might wanna try them without the original foam cover, but i dont wanna have the drivers loose in the cups which might damage them. Thank you.

@@handlmycck The dust cover is stitched into the ear pad. You may remove it but it will void the two year warranty. It will not negatively effect the design of the ear pad if you choose to do this.

I just bought a DT 770 Pro and the pads seem to pull my hair out. Whenever I take them off there is hair on them. The pads on my Sony 7506 are shiny and do not pull out hair. Weird. How many ear pads do you make that will work for the DT 770 Pro?

DT990 with Fenestrated Sheepskin - you need to use EQ and bring down frq. around 100Hz little bit without it it would totally break some songs for me (for example Poppa Joe by Sweet is just a mess without eq.)

ii fucking hated the replacement pads(not the ones in this video) tried so hard to get them on and not rip them... they fuckin rip... so stupid that they made it so hard to get these shits on lol... wound up throwing the headphones at the wall XD

you obstruct the cristal sound mate. Remove the custom pad's foam and you'll hear the difference.

I wouldn't use anything other than the stock earpads because of the fabric o in the middle of the pad will destroy the sound and beyerdynamic headphones don't work well with the fabric o in the middle of the so hopefully you make a elite line of pads with out the fabric o in the pads then they will be Acceptable and usable on beyerdynamic headphones please remove the fabric o in the middle of the pads please on the your beyerdynamic earpads Or give an option to not be there So they're like stock earpads but with more comfort

That's by far the dumbest comment I have read in a while.... Anyway: The Dekoni Elite Velours Pads, SKU: EPZ-DT78990-ELVL are the best measuring Earpads on the DT 1990 Pro ... sooo

I had my doubts, but Elite Velour Pads are a worthwhile investment that actually improves already great sounding DT 1990 Pro, and at the same time taming some of those harsh highs. The fabric in the midle trick to tame the highs is something that I've seen recommended for stock pads by a reviewer Joshua Valour. These pads come with it, so they are definitely not destroying the sound. UPDATE #1: You can actually remove the stock fabric from DT 1990 Pro, by removing the plastic ring that you slot the pads into. This is the part I am talking about: north-america.beyerdynamic.com/catalog/product/view/id/2990/ Two things to be careful then removing and reinstalling the rings: 1) use credit card and not a flat screwdriver so that you don't damage the cups or the rings 2) be careful when reinstalling the rings back into place, they have to go back the very same way they came out (there is a small notch on the opposite side of the grove used to install pads as seen in the video here) By removing the stock fabric that protects the drivers you now again have only one fabric - from the Dekoni pads, which is a more thin and lets through more air (it doesn't need to be as thick as stock ones, since the ears don't touch the drivers with Dekoni Elite Velour pads). Highly recommended, as this whole process transformed an excellent sounding headphones into an outstanding ones!

UPDATE #2: testing again with the stock pads back in the cups, it seems the Dekoni fabric does indeed tame some of the highs as measured on the diyaudioheaven site linked in my previous. So, if you are bothered by Beyer peeks and wish to tame those highs - definitely go with Dekoni. :)
