Funny how you can fly in one of these without a license, but you need a license and now remote ID to fly a toy plastic drone around your own back yard.

@@k1ortia Yes I did, I try to follow the law, but they keep making it harder and harder to do so. All I want to do is fly it around my yard and the neighbor's field outback, that I have permission to fly around. The drone only flies for about 15 minutes, then the battery runs down, and I have to land, not like I am flying it cross country.

@@bb1040 Registration is nothing but a cash cow, invasion of privacy and a joke.. im a responsible flyer and iv no doubt you are too?.. registering your rc product, which by the way is a hobby, is basically giving up your rights to fly freely.. 🖕🏾to the Coperations.. Fly where you want, when you want, responsibly of course. Happy flying..😉
@bb1040
@bb1040 3 жыл бұрын
@@k1ortia The first time I registered I git it for free, this time they charged $5 . This all started with an RC helicopter, I had this bright idea of using it to check my rain gutters to see if they needed cleaning, ( Never really got the hang of the RC helicopter, that is funny because I had a Helicopter license to fly a real helicopter, a lot easier when you are sitting inside LOL ) But then the quadcopters came along and they worked great for that and they are actually fun to fly around, then they started coming out with all these stupid regulations that didn't exist before the quadcopters showed up. There are always some idiot fliers that spoil it for all the rest of us good fliers. What gets me is that they want to regulate me even when I am flying on my own property. I keep saying the air space from the top of my trees to the ground is MY AIR SPACE, but the government claims all air space from space to the ground, everywhere in the country.

Great information here - and imagine my surprise to see my orange Aerolite 103 featured toward the end of this video! That's from my hangar in DeLand, Florida - KDED, sitting on the felt tire mats, has the coiled com cable running up the yoke and the Bontrager bike bag I use for storage and headrest. By the way - the Aerolite 103 is a pretty cool plane to fly. Good aerodynamic stability and very forgiving in a powered and unpowered stall. You do have to "fly it to the ground", but does flare nicely and you can easily hold off the nose wheel for grass field landings. GAF

I worked and trained pilots for Eipper Aircraft, manufacturer of Quicksilver ultralights, including the MX and MX2. It was great fun to build and fly. I assembled and test flew aircrafts for Art Scholl, Mario Andretti, Johnny Rutherford, Ponch and Jon (of CHIPS tv show) and trained the stunt men who actually flew them for the show. I built 10 red planes for the Chinese government. There was also Bruce Jenner's Quicksliver, with floats for Lake Tahoe, and I painted it to match his Pitts Special. Unfortunately there were some flying enthusiasts who didn't know what they were doing in building their own design and some crashed with serious injuries or died. The ultralight industry took a really bad hit in publicity never to recover completely.

Back in the early 80's training was some simple verbal instruction, a little taxiing around an open field, then some "crow hops" where the new pilot just accelerated enough to get a few feet off the ground and then chop the power. For the real solo flight we communicated with "hand signals" for like "go faster" or "slow down". No radios yet or parachutes. Well, one weekend at Lake Elsinore, CA, I was training a young couple that wanted to fly from San Pedro? harbor to commute to Santa Catalina island. The young woman was first. After getting airborne she was supposed to come over me for signals, then land. Well, she kept climbing higher and higher, with only about an hour's fuel on board. She was up several thousand feet, 45 minutes, when the motor slowed down, gliding, then eventually landed. When queried what happened, she said she "forgot to let go of the throttle lever (like a bicycle brake lever), Duh! Well, all's well that ends well.

Nice video 👍🏼 .... but here in Germany you have absolutely no chance to fly any of these gyrocopters & planes. Sad but true. =/ PS: a little side-information: to become a 🚁-Pilot here, you need minimum 250.000,-€ with absolute no guarantee to get a job in this business and so, ... my childhood-dream was killed a long time ago. In the states or in Canada for example it’s way more realistic to follow & reach such a dream/goal. Sad but true!. Gyros can fall straight out of the sky if you don't know what you are doing. Even advanced flyers have paid the price in one of those. You are better off with a low stall fixed wing. Yes they can auto rotate but that landing can fracture a lot of bones.

From Jan. 2024 to March 2024 there have been 52 private airplane accidents as per the NTSB No gyrocopter accidents reported. Yes much more private planes in operation. NOTE: A gyrocopter can do the "Impossible Turn" but any pilot instructor will tell you not to do it in a emergency in a airplane. Many more advantages in a gyro.@@hillbilly4christ638

I have 61 hours in a Firefly. Fantastic aircraft easily the best preforming ultralight I have flew and I have flew 9 different ultralight craft including the aerolite. Preformance is great but not nearly as responsive as the firefly but can fly slower for sure and its a neat experience to fly a few feet off the ground in a 10mph head wind at walking speeds, the firefly is capable low and slow but the aerolite excels at that along with being the easiest to land plane I have ever flown period. Ihabe 41 hours in aerolite that my father owns. He owns a long EZ as well but its unfinished. About 10 years ago he started it and has since never finished it, its around 80% complete as of now and we have recently started the build again. We plan on having it complete around March 2021.

The FAA forbade me from proceeding with any flight training at all when I disclosed my Narcolepsy on my Flight Physical. No I do not have Cataplexy. I do not suddenly fall asleep when driving, but drowsiness will hit me hard if I attempt to drive more than two hours without a napping rest stop. Their decision letter never said anything about me getting or constructing my own ultralight aircraft and flying in that manner. I already have one hour in a Cessna 172. Between that and realistic flight sim equipment, how hard could it be to solo on an ultralight, then hopping VFR from one small airfield to another?

Either though you can still fly these without a license doesn't mean you can't die just the same as an licensed pilot. The ground doesn't care if you hit it at 45 mph if you have a license or not. You still need to know something about the common rules of flight before acting silly and getting in one of these and taking off. My Uncle though he could build a kit plane and take off flying on the first day too. He flew his first flight and died on his first flight all in about 50 seconds.

I find it extremely odd that for a video entitled 'No Licence to FLY!' you have selected an image of the CH-7 Kompress Helicopter, an aircraft that requires that the Pilot be trained and licensed to Private Pilots Licence - Helicopters (PPL-H) or Commercial Pilots Licence - Helicopters (CPL-H) standards in every market that this aircraft is sold in! It seems unlikely that you were unaware of these facts when you decided on the image to use under the title, and it raises the question why? That apart, the long discontinued model Mosquito Air Helicopter is a very ingenious little machine, but my interest waned at the realization of the UK cost and that it wasn't on the list of approved kit built aircraft and would be subject to the 28 day rule if registered outside of the UK. I still think its a very cleverly designed machine, but as a former motorcycle mechanic and workshop owner I have absolutely no interest in having a high revving two stroke powerplant. Obviously, this was chosen to meet the US regulatory standards, but it could have been such a better machine. The CH-7 is a truly outstanding design from a master helicopter designer,, manufacturer and Pilot and remains my all time favorite kit built helicopter, but they too originally came fitted with an awful two stroke motor, thankfully later superceded by Rotax four stroke engines. In Europe there is a category for ultralight self build Helicopters and an interesting variety of models, whereas the UK remains several lightyears behind!

Actually look at UK CAA regulations CAP750 (VLH regs) and CAP733 (PtF) - both cover the requirements for Very Light Helicopters in the Permit to Fly. Technically it seems you can fly them over here but I’ve yet to get the info needed to apply for the permit to fly from CAA and start the liaison with the CAS to start. They’re not UK experimental aircraft and not would they be in a microlight class. I’m looking into this and think it can be done! Read the regulations mate- CAP750 was approved in 2004! Problem is navigating any regulatory structure is by design almost impossible.

Please learn the correct terminology. Gyrocopter and Autogyro (Autogiro) are both BRAND NAMES and the class of vehicle is actually called Gyroplane, which is the term used by aviation authorities around the world.

A cool collection of different types for the recreational flyer. " You Can Fly WITHOUT a License " is click-worthy but irresponsible. Pilots licence is not mandatory but common sense dictate that training to solo standard is important.

I know this was not your intended target group, but there are lots of formerly licensed pilots that cannot fly for reasons as simple as their medication is not on the approved list, or perhaps they have a condition that the certification authority deems disqualifying while still being fully capable of safely operating an aircraft (yes, they can sometimes get a special waiver but it can take years)
@JohnSmith-wd9rc
@JohnSmith-wd9rc 3 жыл бұрын
@@jeanchapman1301 Yeah the third class medical has thousands of capable pilots grounded. I know a guy that flies a 182, but will have to sell it due to the medical. What really sucks is that his doctor said he is capable to fly, but not the FAA Nazis.

obviously, but while I'm not an expert on the matter while still plenty expensive getting trained to properly handle an aircraft must be cheaper than obtaining and mantaining a pilot's license, so maybe for a recreational flier machines like these could be better if they're not making money back from their license

They have fuel tank size restrictions and jet engines give you like 20mph more speed but nearly double fuel consumption rate so you end up losing some flight time/range so unless your wanting purely performance then its something you can do yourself

$25,000 for aircraft/ $2,500 for proper flight lessons/ $800 yr. liability insurance $200 mo. hanger fee...Not an inexpensive hobby by any means. * the above figures are according to personal research in Lake Havasu, Arizona.

You can skip the “hanger fees” and probably the “liability insurance “ I would imagine for PPG. But being able to fly PPG early in the morning or, predusk, in calm air only is hardly worth the expense and trouble.
