What happened to his propeller? Did he run into one of those Russian airplanes? Did this actually happen in real life?

I was hit by flying debris. This was quite common and a major cause of pilot deaths/emergency ditching....

@@WW2AviationGeek I believe it happened to Erich Hartmann 10 or more times if I recall. The others were mechanical and fuel issues.
