In Biblios, you are an abbot of a medieval monastery competing with other abbots to amass the greatest library of sacred books. To do so, you need to have both the workers and resources to run a well-functioning scriptorium.

I used to agree with you, that the idea was better than the actual game. However after trying the game 5-10 times it really grew on me! It's now easily into my top 10 fillers. High recommendations from me at least :-)

No one noticed the blue and green dice are in the wrong places? (0:42) Lol! I soooo miss these two and their reviews. I prefer their reviews over DT reviews.

I really like Biblios. It's a filler, it's supposed to be a short game. The first phase is the setup and the second one is the conclusion in which you finally decide which colors you're going for and hope to be able to increase their value in the dice by purcashing the right cards in the auction. It's probably one of the best and deepest fillers I have ever played. We never had the sense that something else should be in the game apart from what it is already. I never understood phrases like "The game is not what I expected it to be". If you take a look at the game rules or other reviews online, the game does exactly what it promises. Just my two cents.

this game is fantastic and has plenty of depth and strategy...... the end is not disappointing at all, just a conclusion to a very carefully planned strategy. They have not clue what they are talking about. This isn' t just another filler game....this is THE filler game. Absolutely awesome game.

Good job ladies. I like the game. It took a few games to get the hang of it. Good filler game, good theme. Often I let the good card go thinking a better card would be next. But still I would manage to win a game. Press your luck. Luckily none of us in our game group is a card counter. :)

I really like Biblios but definitely see your points. I think the theme and unique mechanics make it worthy of a filler game to break the mold of other fantasy, sci-fi, etc. games every now and then.

Christopher Ramsey Some of my favourite filler games are Dragon's Hoard, Love Letter, and Mascarade... Also, Hanabi is really fun and interesting. There's also definitely a place for dice games as fillers at my table - Zombie Dice, for instance, is a great game for new gamers in casual situations.

You mention that you wouldn't pick this over the many other filler games out there. Could you give examples of games that you prefer to Biblios?

They dont want to reveal the bad taste? Biblios is really nice. I also want to recommed 'No Thanks!', if you not allready played it!

I like Biblios quite a bit, personally, but I have to acknowledge the reviewers' insight: I have had players respond with "That's it? All that to win a couple of dice?" after it's over. :) I just think of it as "quirky."

StarlitCitadel how would you compare Biblios to For Sale?

I agree with Kaja, it feels like the whole game is the set up and then it just ends. It's a very odd game.

I have a critique: when you're explaining how to play the game, it would help a LOT if you narrated over a video of doing the actions. With your videos I leave never understanding how to play the game. Otherwise, good. Thanks!

? Did you watch the video, or just listen? That is exactly what they did. And their role here is to review the game, giving a general overview of the game in order for the audience to understand what the game is about. They aren't intending to teach you the game. That said, they are some of the most thorough game play explanation reviewers out there.

Yeah you're right, they did do what I asked, although a good deal of it is speaking rules to the camera which is the part I must have latched onto. I understand they're trying to give an overview so they're not going to spend a lot of time teaching, but I have a hard time making my own judgment with this style. They're well done videos, but I guess the longer form ones like Rahdo's are more my style.

What is it that you say at the end of the video in foreign language? what is the language? What does it mean? It is torturing me... Something, something Latina, I guess... Is it Italian? Latin? Weird pronunciation?!?
@JoannaGaskell
@JoannaGaskell 9 жыл бұрын
nnbaixo Haha! It's Latin, and it says: "Everything sounds great in Latin." I figured with the fact that this game's theme is all medieval-literature-based, it made sense to drop some Latin in the video as an Easter Egg... I'm such a nerd.
