This infuriates me to my core. My grandmother was orphaned as a toddler due to the Holocaust. And during the very little time she did speak about it, she'd say. "No child, no matter where they come from, deserves to see nor experience such violence as I have." I would like to think she wouldn't want zionists to use the genocide of her people to be used as a pedestal to justify the killing of others.

@Bepis-Boii Sorry, my choice of wording was poor. I am sure you honor her life and memory. I imagine understanding the truth and speaking it are part of that. Never again really has to mean never again for all. I know a Jewish couple in their late 70s still defending Israel. And it makes me sad to see them not living by their own values and beliefs, but defending a nation that directly harms those beliefs as well. And when I reached out they shut me down and said we will never discuss the Middle East again or they won't spend time with me, after 38 years of support and friendship. Nostalgia isn't the right word, but some of the older Jewish generation (not all, thank you Norman Finklestein!), did not survive the Holocaust but have this ideological view of it, almost like Nostalgia or romanticizing it into their strong belief in an all Jewish state. Idk a better way to describe it. But it is extremely difficult to get those dreamers to wake up and live in reality. If they actually survived the Holocaust, they would be opposed to the ongoing harm being done for 75 years. The truth is too much for some I fear.

the anti-Semitism rhetoric when in the context of the war in Gaza is messed up. i walked past a pro palestine protest today at Newcastle University UK. they had literally 2 campus security there. there were no anti protestors, the tents were on the grass and werent blocking anyone so were causing no obstructions, and half the tents had signs saying ''jews for palestine'' in support of ending the genocide in palestine. it was a nice day, people were handing out free snacks, and talking about what was going on. meanwhile in america, people start screaming at protestors, and riot police turn up and then it just turns into an all out war, its crazy. The difference between protests for Palestine over here in the UK (at least here in Newcastle) compared to the US is just so striking. like i said, there were literally only 2 campus security guards for the whole protest, that was eat, and they were just just sitting on a wall chilling.

There is no split between us. 95% of us support Israel's right to exist. Anti-Zst Jews are the minority of us and are often tokenized by antisemites in the same way as "I have a blc friend" is used by some people to deflect criticism. People who proudly call themselves anti-Zst tend to be very antisemitic. Zsm is the support for a state for the Jewish people in the historic Jewish homeland. It's not their home. Palestine started this conflict when rejecting Camp David 2. Or you could say, the middle eastern countries were starting this war when preparing before the 6 Day War. But it doesn't matter. Palestine should surrender, free the hostages, accept Israel as state and eventually get their own state. They should ally with Israel and become a proper, democratic country. And as long as they reject this, Israel has to fight them sadly. Obviously, a truce is not an option, as the Palestinians have shown on October 7th. You can't revard them for their brutality by giving them a state, but maybe in a decade or two... if they behave themselves.

A lot of people don't know in the Polish resistance (depending on Western or Lublin aligned to a degree), anti-semitism was a problem. Is it as a big of a problem as fighting an evil genocidal state and no longer justify the resistance? NO. If we can recognise the bravery of resistance fighters in World War 2 without damming them when they committed acts of terror, the same can be done for Palestine.

We have to claw back control of the Supreme Court from white nationalists. If Trump wins several old justices will retire and be replaced with people young enough to ensure you will never see any progressive reform in your lifetime. Plus a national ban on abortion after 6 weeks is their goal. And when it comes to Palestine he will be considerably worse. I just do not see wisdom in not voting for Biden as if you won't be crying on election night if Trump wins. I thought Biden was gonna use the term "ancient desire" in reference to the Romans. The area of Palestine was heavily Romanized after the 1st century AD and was later Arabized when the Ummyad Caliphate conquered it. But by then, the Jewish population was miniscule at best. For nearly 2000 years the Jewish inhabitants that lived there have been long driven out or killed. That doesn't give their nominal decendants the right to take land that has since then been occupied by the modern Palestinian population for centuries now.

One of the forgotten tragedies of the Holocaust is how easy it is for every country that fought in that war to forget the lessons and to misunderstand how we arrived there. The racism and viciousness were fueled by something and enabled by countries that still exist like we think we're so above that. But honestly, even though we pretend everyone's just one bad day away from real darkness.

Honestly horrifies me that not a single politician with actual power has a shred of integrity. It's not like I want to hate Joseph Biden but he makes it impossible to like, respect, or even understand the rationale behind his actions. He seems to forget that sometimes people will just decide not to vote if they don't like either candidate.
