Outstanding. Tight slip for sure. Thankfully it looked like wind and current were minimal. The Capt was calm too and took your direction well.

Yes. Best to practice for the first few times when the current and weather are optimal. Get some muscle memory first.

@@AskCaptainChris Loving life... the ONLY issue I have is that my cheeks are hurting every day ;) Docking now like a legit Jersey gurl in these tight slips. Still learning more and more each day. I have an amazing "boat coach" (like you) who is now like an older brother. You'd definitely appreciate his pushing the paper charts, NO use of the bow thruster, and using visual markers to navigate ;)

And I thought my berth was tight with a metre (imperial yard 🤓) clearance either end when I back out. There’s never a calm day in southern England or at least there wasn’t last summer. Your video just goes to show the huge benefits of twin engine installations. If you could ever do this video on single engine with bow and stern thrusters I’d be a very happy man 👍🏻👍🏻 And I have to add wonderful calm, concise instructions to the helm.

Phew… that’s a lot of videos watched. I’m pretty happy that I’m following standard practice and making he best of it after watching all of these. I back into my slip, but having to approach down the channel forwards and make a 90° left turn to align myself to my berth. Sadly I’m starboard side to with a prop walk that kicks to port and pulls my stern away towards my neighbour. And as ever the prevailing wind onto my starboard quarter works in conjunction with my prop walk pulling my stern off the berth. A few people have said back in all the way into the channel then use the prop walk to aid the turn of the stern to port, if you can visualise it. One problem, the Swift Trawler 34 doesn’t appear to go backwards in a straight line. You have to build up what appears to be too much speed to get rudder authority. We’ll get there in the end 👍🏻

Great job …. Now that captain needs to remember to put the VHF antenna up and also to put it back down prior to returning to his slip. A printed/Laminated checklist might serve them well. Same with closing the door to starboard. Both could be expensive to fix if they forget. Happy New Year!

Great job captain, you had a difficult circumstance with the helmsman wanting to go walking around at the exact wrong time to leave the helm, and the chatter from them ladies below, I wouldn't have tolerated that. Then after you told Woody 3 times to turn right he asked you if you wanted him to turn left. You're a very patient man Are you going to post the return to slip? I appreciate your videos
