Boeing will resume deliveries of its 777 and 787 to China after a lengthy suspension following concerns of quality and safety. Meanwhile, Cathay Pacific has unveiled plans to boost flying to Perth, with five additional weekly services commencing on 28 October 2024. Lastly, KLM has announced it'll begin offering year-round flights between Amsterdam Schiphol and Portland using its 787 Dreamliner.

You shouldn’t show China Airlines planes when referencing China (PRC) airline regulator’s actions against Boeing. China ROC (aka, Taiwan) is governed separately and its flag carrier (China Airlines) is not the same as Air China (flag carrier of the PRC).

And mainland China (PRC) have numerous state-owned and privately owned airlines. Air China is the main flag carrier with the larger China Southern and China Eastern airlines as secondary ones among the state-owned companies. Private ones include HNA Aviation Group which operates Hainan Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, XiamenAir, Juneyao Airlines, Okay Airways and some budget ones like Spring Airlines, Ruili Airlines and Loong Air

China never suspended 777 deliveries, shortage of GE90 engines the reason for delays.. Should be a rapid succession of deliveries with all the engineless airframes cluttering the tarmac, with Air China recently taking delivery of 2 777F's....

And during the Christmas holidays of 2023, Juneyao Airlines with 787-9. China Southern Airlines, one of the state-owned carriers, is another recipient of this with the 787. And there are more deliveries of 737 MAX, 777s and 787 planes. Smaller private airlines led by Okay Airways and Ruili Airlines are anticipating their 787s be delivered this year

I have no axe to grind between manufacturers but Boeing should probably cancel the China orders or at least put them way back and service other companies who want their planes quicker. There is more at play here than just Boeings manufacturing issues.

cause they don't own the lack of quality and can't cover it up. Boeing is foreign poor quality vs local chinese poor quality

Maybe they reverse engineered so many aircraft that they can really tell which aircraft possibly have quality issues?

Of course they are! Just look at the quality control of their rocket tests! It turns out it's way cooler to not tether it down properly during engine tests and watch it take off uncontrolled and nearly crash into a town in a giant fireball...makes fantastic youtube video.

KLM is actually replacing Delta on the PDX-AMS route and Delta had a daily frequency year round so it’s a pretty big reduction in service for the winter.

I disagree that China blocking deliveries doesn't help Boeing. If nobody forces them to improve quality they never will, this, in the long run, will benefit Boeing and its customers.

Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) is pretty new to the certification and airworthiness scene since the restart of Chinese civil aircraft building in 2007 through the regional ARJ-21. Understandably, the lack of experts in civil aviation hampered the certification processes of that time.

@@thisiskevin1000 I think you've missed the point. The plane is already certified but what is being delivered doesn't meet the certification standard. The Chinese authorities are doing a more thorough job of checking the incoming planes than Boeing are in checking the products being delivered. If nobody gives them a kick up the arse then they will continue to delver substandard product.

China has used the problems at Boeing as an opportunity to sell C919s, and Airbus has also taken advantage of it to grow market share in China. Ultimately though, China still needs widebody aircraft and they clearly don't want A330neos, and they can't wait for A350s ao they have to start taking delivery of their 787s. There are also a number of finished 737 aircraft earmarked for China, so getting those delivered will also help Boeing's bottom line.

Oops, you mean COMAC (Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China)? Its flagship C919 narrow body and regional aircraft ARJ21 planes are ramping up production and deliveries to their initial batch of customers. And there’s the upcoming C929 and C939 wide-bodies which will be competing against A330neos and B787s, plus A350 and B777/-X planes in a decade’s time
