My biggest problem with MvC2 sprites was the proportions- some sprites were wayyy bigger than others, even though both characters are supposed to be human. Looks janky.

Never used a Razer fightstick but I have used many mice back in the days and those things fucking suck, they last like a couple months and then fall apart. The internals must be made from cardboard.

@@IVeNoMII That's probably because Razer is one of those "all over the market" kind of companies. Like they're cheaper stuff is good for what you're paying, but you can have issues with them breaking down after X months. But their pricey stuff like the Kitsune seem to be very well built with great quality parts from everything I've heard. Could be cope though, so a grain of salt as always lol

as a league player I can confirm outside a few multiplayer games. League has already poisoned our minds so when not playing league we typically want to chill and play a single player game

it always sucks hearing the discourse around leverless just cause it seems im the only person who got into them because i tried one at a tourny and it was MAD comfortable. maybe cause i played on keyboard for so long but on arcade stick i needed breaks every 2hours or so cause of my wrist but on leverless i can play for 6+ hours no problem.

That's the razer kitsune. They just use a custom sticker, which you can do yourself, razer provides the templates as well.

What I'm most curious about is if this game is going to have good offline content, or if it is just going to be an arcade fighting game where all the focus is on the online. While both the FGC and LOL are very competitive online, if you want your fighting game to succeed with the casual audience, you will need a healthy amount of single player content.

If anything I see Max saying he wants to take inspiration for his mod, and I think for me, its that it has too any rim lights, just keep it to a top down 3/4 lightsource, its always appealing, even in animation that's why us artists do it all the time it, also the easiest to track in traditional animation, which we all are familiar with. But the mod has this blue rim, which isnt bad, its just too busy.

For some perspective on leverless from someone who picked up fighting games within the past decade, I was always a PC gamer, and for the first few years of playing fighting games, I used controller and eventually tried a stick and really preferred it for things like full circle motions, but just couldn't get my movement to be as precise as controller even after months of practicing (probably because I had even less muscle memory using a stick compared to a simple D-pad on a controller I used my whole life). Eventually I didn't have a controller around one weekend so I tried out keyboard and realized I was able to immediately hit combos I was struggling with and my movement was even cleaner than on controller. I think this is partially because leverless/keyboard layout is objectively better, but on the other hand it was already what I was most comfortable playing on. All to say I think a large population of people that have picked up fighting games in the last decade have come from games like League/Dota, counter strike, and other PC esports that were looking to try a new competitive game, and for those people the leverless layout translates the most muscle memory from other games they have played. I don't think the biggest reason we have seen the surge is because its stronger than other inputs.

I get the devs want people to play together on the same team in this game… but there is no way that is going to be the main way people play. Between character synergy, skill gaps, fuse choice, tag timing etc. There are too many opportunities to troll your teammate to make duo a more enjoyable way to play than solo.

exactly, I keep saying that there's this disconnect how the devs want the public to play (duo) vs how most scenes are actually gonna play the game (single). and that disconnect is gonna hurt the health of the game more. Every time I bring it up, most people immediately dismiss me. I wish Max would share his thoughts on it

Really neat to see where they prioritize certain points of development timeline wise. There's way more polish on the visuals than I would expect to see as of now. I'm guessing they are getting the bones in, and then they'll spend the remainder on adding content. Game dev is fascinating!

As a league player I can confirm that league got me interested into fighting games. Mobas are pretty close to fighting games in a sense where you pick a main or a couple learn about their lore n story then the combos n teamwork u can do too

Yea it’s like you either play league all the time or you’ve played enough to where you play on and off now and play other games like fighting games and mmos since they both fill the role of what makes league great which is the unique characters and the lore and story and the combat and unique abilities and role they provide. Then you have the big single player game releases

Tbh the way auto combos made you to use supers in KOF 15 is a huge part of why I never got into it, I felt like my ability to actually control the character was being ripped out of my hands, and as someone who isn’t very good at links it made the game feel awful for me.

See on the leverless comment. My friends learned guilty gear on PC with keyboard. Simply because they had no controller, so for them leverless is what is comfortable for them from the start. I do think if your switching for the sake of faster inputs sure but with this coming out on PC even more players are gonna learn with keyboard first

A note on leverless v. Stick: I'm an extremely casual fighting game player that recently started playing. I don't have a game pad in any form, but if I were to buy one, it would be leverless. It just makes sense for me since it mimics keyboard (my current input method) the best. And I think that could definitely be a contributing factor to the rising popularity of leverless.

yeah i gotta agree with max here. i don't know where the chat person got that idea from, league players going into fighting games or do play fighting games it's cause they had interest in fighting games before league or starting to go into fighting games after the whole Tekken 8 deal cause there was some peeps that did play league and went to try out tekken 8 during a twitch tournament thing. But yeah league players only play league.

Yeah they should have 100% made it standalone. Valorant is it’s own thing and the player base is mainly COMPLETELY split from those two but it worked out quite well. They could have done the same for this. I’m guessing their reasoning was cause they don’t have recognisable characters like stuff like sf, tekken, mk where they bring in past characters that gets people hyped..but..nobody is going get hyped when league characters show up in this game cause as you said, league players play only league

There’s actually 2 kind of league players n I been both but there’s the players that exclusively only play league then there’s the players that played enough where they play it on n off n it’s usually fighting games or mmos since the best thing about league is the lore, story and the unique characters and personalities and role they fit in the story along with how they fight in the game and how different they are from each other. Only fighting games n mmos really fill that niche well. Other than the big single player releases but league players like pvp so fighting games is the natural thing we’re drawn too. After I took a breaks from league I got into gg and sf6 the characters and combat just feels right ain’t gotta worrying bout getting yanked unless it’s a team game 💀

@@raekwonchambers2297I kinda disagree. Best thing about league that keeps players invested is the main gameplay loop and the emphasis on the micro gameplay in a MOBA. As well as the cast of characters. League's "story" or "lore" is dogwater on the ground.

I've been playing League for 12 years, but I am a big time variety gamer. Of all the League players I've met and befriended over the years (which is in the hundreds), I only knew a few that were League only gamers. And by a few, I mean like I could count them on one hand. From my anecdotal experience, League players are variety gamers. Maybe not as much as I am, but as a whole they seem to be. It would be easier for me to give the genres I don't play than it would be to name the genres I do.

I'm a league player and I really wait for this game. Hyped by Tekken 8 recently even tho I'll never play it (expensive and pc issues) but oh god. I really want to try to get into fighting games.

Actually as a former league player, and still a Heroes player, most people I play with play fighting games as well. Sure it’s a small sample size, but I know others that would say the same thing. Potentially still anecdotal evidence but…

I am of max's opinion . ive played league for over 7 years now, peaked diamond 1, and was top 10 maya in the world, got to face max and rico suave a couple of times in the KI ladder. did something similar on guilty gear but I always go back to league and stop whatever other games I played.

I'm glad they changed Ahri's ammo system. Team games are chaotic enough for also have to manage your ammo that you actively have to find time to reload.

I just want it to be a well-made game. Not just a fun game to play. I shouldn't have to say that, but in this year 2024 there is still a problem with Fighting Games struggling to implement (or even acknowledge) features that should be solved issues, to the point that I struggle to enjoy a game if it cant get its act together on QOL stuff.

Probably only 2 colours and I can imagine the rest being paid. This game can’t gain much profit since it’s f2p so customisation is going to cost 10x the amount than it usually does for regular fighting games for characters/stages, I can already imagine the 1000$ girl skin

Unless this estimate is not a reliable source I just looked it up: 2XKO is set to launch in 2025 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. The 2025 release date was confirmed on Riot Game’s blog by 2KXO’s senior director. We estimate that the 2XKO release date could land before the summer of 2025.

I'm a big fan of every fighting having modern controls and still having everything a hard-core fighting game player would like. modern is just there for people to learn and for causals to just press buttons and watch there Character do cool stuff it brings in so many people to try and play the game casually keeping the game alive for a long time like street fighter 6

Yep there is no real downside. You can get good with both. I prefer classic cause it just feels cooler and more satisfying to hit stuff but I have no issues in pressing more buttons compared to others as long as modern players have a slight disadvantage with their damage or health
