The only one of those characters I've met in person was Lew Yates, circa mid-'80s, I guess he was still in his sporting prime. He was still looking for prize fights, anyway. Lovely fellow, by the way. I'll never forget the mantra of one of my old trainers: "Fitness comes in all shapes and sizes." It's profoundly true. Notwithstanding Lew's fighting ability (I never saw him fight but we can reasonably assume he had ability), I reckon his shape might have caused some people a few problems. He's not that tall but he's about the widest man I've ever seen.

Hi Ray,hope your well?Sykes would had easily taken Lenny out and Brian Cockerall,look at what Sykes done to Roy Shaw,twice,as for someone's hitting bags snd pads thats easy to do as they dont hit back,lol,+watching that video its a light bag only not heavy 200kg bag,you know as well as i do with promoters,thats tbere job to protect there investment,as for Duffy vs Sykes,Sykes much older but had good boxing pedigree and Sykrs extremly strong and vicious man,so i feel Sykes tbh but depends on who gets first in and if they can take a shot,Sykes could,any news in book???

Hello Ray how ya getting on fella hope your good, you look a bit run down mate look knackered bud 🥱😞...yh I think your analysis on the fights there are prob what would off happened i was actually a bit surprised when I saw Paul sykes boxing I was surprised because I thought he was just a known face but I saw straight away he can box n move properly..bit off a shame in a way the bloke had his demons and the booze on top that's a lethal combo but maybe if he stuck with the boxing he might went a different road n done well as a pro even maybe but it wasn't too be I guess,cheers Ray all best

Paul sykes prime has to be up there with the best of best . Violence was his way forward no steroids like lenny etc just a natural fighting machine.. Unfortunately drink was his downfall big time.. U have to remember he swatted roy shaw twice very easily in hull prison .. Duffy famous up north 6.4 mean but never fought no one of class . U no what i mean ray . Not to say he waznt good just never happened..

Ray reckons it never happened! 🙄 All depends on who you listen to I suppose… Even Sykes son said he was a wrong un!!! Amongst many others in and out of jail. Sykes even said himself he had 13 & 14 yr old girls at same time, down the holiday chalet’s where he worked as life guard. 🤷🏻‍♂️ But of course Ray knows🙄😳👀🤷🏻‍♂️

Spot on D, he was a fkn fruit loop, too many certified people say so, he knew his level, remember ALL the HMPs of the day, dispersals, where lock down jails, the screws ran the jail, so he was bullying/beasting young/weak people behind the door, on 23 HR bang up, so that's why ray must of mist that bit. 😮@@donalddorman17

Did you know Paul Sykes? No I didn’t think so. Any good fighting man on their best day will beat another fighting man, a better bigger man, on their worst day. It’s all relevant mate. 🙄 Re Sykes… he was a drunk pest. A bully just past his prime when Duffy put it on him. No one disputes that but you!! Yet you never even knew Sykes or Duffy yet dismiss Duffy. Strange… 🤔

@@dal68x Quite a bit of could’ve, should’ve and would’ve here. Too many independent voices, screws and cons spoke of Duffy putting it on Sykes. I knew about Sykes and Duffy from my time involved with guys from Hartlepool early 90’s onwards. All serious players where trust was a major factor amongst us. They knew well, both of these mentioned.

You’re taking strength into it far too much! You’re saying Duffy couldn’t beat Lenny because Lenny was 4/5 stone heavier and then saying Sykes would beat Brian? Duffy was the boy, he died at 26 (not his prime) and ruined every man he met and was fearless! You’ve said multiple times that Lenny shat himself from other men from London, trust me that would never have happened to Lee! Lee would have smoked them all if he’d have calmed down a little
